Sir as you have said initially that we can have same substructure but different sulerstructure separated by expansion joint..then how can torsion be accommodated in irregular building during earthquake.. I mean is there any link bw the torsion in substructure and the expansion joint?
Yes if the reason for joint is expansion then there is no need to separate the footings. Accomodating torsion - Design for the forces ignoring that it is in torsional mode. Thats what is meant by accomodating it.
@@proudcivilengineerspceacad1514 If your question is if 2 parts of an irregular structure can have common foundation then ans is yes. its ok. The inertial mass comes from the superstructure
one of the best in coaching on Structural engineering. ..., commendable work by Premjit ..
Thanks Sunil for your kind words :-)

@@CIVILERABangalore yes sir..got the point.
Thank you!!
Where to give expansion joint in regular shape plan of building like square, circle or something like central vista in delhi.....?
Its project specific. Need to decide based on the scheme requirement
@@CIVILERABangalore okay, Thankyou....
How we can we know the value of deflection of two different unit i.e value of delta1 and delta2 ?
You need to find that out from ETABS.🙂
Sir,
Do you know any manufacturer who can work with us in our projects for expansion joints
Pass me your requirement
Hello, we do provide services for expansion joint provision in buildings.
