maiden songs? Fear of the dark, number of the beast, run to the hills, Powerslave, The evil that men do, 2 minutes to midnight, Afraid to shoot strangers and Aces high jumps to mind immediately. So many years, so many albums... hard to pick a favorite

Helloo , I will recommend "Fear of the Dark" some live version probably from Santiago de Chile is the best. Just for a little info I am so proud that i saw them life in 1995 and this year both concerts in Bucharest.

As other's have said, Fear of the Dark is a great one, as are Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Number of the Beast. Great music all around. If you want more of a deep cut, check out Run to the Hills.

    • @Noksivs

Run to the hills a deep cut?... It's the most commercially played maiden song.

    • @carthuscrass2343
      @carthuscrass2343 2 года назад

@@Noksivs Weird. I have never heard it any time that I didn't play it myself. Regional thing maybe?

    • @Noksivs
      @Noksivs 2 года назад

@@carthuscrass2343 Perhaps. Here in Sweden you either hear run to the hills, or the number of the beast on radio when they rarely play maiden at all... Occasionally you could hear 2 minutes to midnight and the trooper too, but not that often.

This is probably the most popular Iron Maiden song. The next is probably Fear of the Dark, needs to be played live (Do live at Rio) Maiden didn't get much radio play, they got popular from their great music and their extensive touring. I've been listening to Iron Maiden since 1982, at the age of 15. To give you a complete list of Iron Maiden recommendations, see my list below.
    Iron Maiden currently is:
Bruce Dickinson - Vocals Born: August 7, 1958 (age 64 years) Started with Iron Maiden in 1981, left in 1993 and rejoined in 1999 and present singer
Steve Harris - Bassist and Founder Born: March 12, 1956 (age 66 years), Started the band in 1975 and has never left
    Dave Murray - Guitarist Born: December 23, 1956 (age 65 years), 1976-1977, 1978- present
    Adrian Smith - Guitarist Born: February 27, 1957 (age 65 years), 1980-1990, 1999-present
    Janick Gers - Guiarist Born: January 27, 1957 (age 65 years), 1990 - present
    Nicko McBrain - Drums Born: June 5, 1952 (age 69 years), 1982 - present
Highlight of songs I'd recommend are:
    From Iron Maiden album------
Phantom of the Opera - A must for live version
Strange World (this one will be totally different Iron Maiden)
    From Killers album ------
Murders in the Rue Morgue (Very loosely influenced by Edgar Allen Poe's short story, a story of a fugitive being sought for murder)
Genghis Khan (an instrumental - perfect for air drumming)
Innocent Exile (continues the theme of Murders in the Rue Morgue of an unjustly accused fugitive)
Killers (A journey into the twisted mind of a deranged killer)
Prodigal Son(about a repentant man reminiscent of the prodigal son parable found in Luke 15 of the bible)
Purgatory(lyrics of song read like a poem)
Drifter (focuses on the possibility of new beginnings)
From The Number of the Beast album------
Invaders (It graphically depicts the violence and horror of a defense against a Viking invasion)
The Prisoner (based on the UK television series that ran briefly in the late 1960’s)
22 Acacia Avenue (The continuation of Charlotte the Harlot)
The Number of the Beast (Inspired by a dream Bassist Steve Harris had after watching the movie the Omen2)
Run to the Hills (about the European arrival in America told from the perspective of both the oppressed Cree and the invading Anglo-Saxon soldiers)
Hallowed be Thy Name (about a man who is about to be put to death and what he goes through) ***You just did this one.
    From Piece of Mind------
Where Eagles Dare (based on an Alistair Maclean novel, (1967), and film (1968) about a WWII rescue of an American general from a Nazi stronghold in the Bavarian Alps
Revelations (Starts with the Hymnal from Oh God of Earth and Alter, the next two verses on the Hindu philosophy, the third verse in Yoga a snake called Kundalini that lives at the base of your spinal cord, during meditation a spiritual entity is created symbolizing the transcendental union with God)
Flight of Icarus (loosely based on the ancient Greek myth of Icarus)
The Trooper (based on the Charge of the Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaclava 1854,which took place during the Crimean War)
To Tame a Land (the song relays the story of Paul Atreides, Paul Muad'Dib, from the book Dune by Frank Herbert)
    From Powerslave album------
Aces High (about aircraft dog fighting between the British and German fighter pilots of WWII)
2 Minutes to Midnight - About the Doomsday clock for the End of the World
Back in The Village (The continuation of the song The Prisoner)
Powerslave (about an arrogant pharaoh in his dying hours, he can't understand why he's about to die and fights it in vain)
Rime of the Ancient Mariner - (From the poem of the same name by Samuel Taylor Coleridge (story about about an ocean voyage)
    From Somewhere in Time album-------
Wasted Years (A song about the admonition to appreciate the present and not to take things for granted)
The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner (based on a short story of Alan Sillitoe which was made into a 1962 film
Alexander the Great (About the story of Alexander the Great
From 7th Son of a 7th Son (a concept album)------
Infinite Dreams (Detailing someone who is tormented by paranormal dreams and nightmares)
The Evil That Men Do (Title taken from a quote in Shakespeare Julius Caesar but the song is unrelated)
The Clairvoyant (relates the reflections of the 7th Son of the 7th Son on his life and his powers)
From Fear of the Dark album------
Wasting Love (About the emptiness of relationships without love. Another Maiden ballad)
Fear of the Dark (About being afraid of the dark and the things in the dark that might be there - absolute do a live performance for this one)
    From Brave New World album------
The Wicker Man (about the apathy of our modern society and our egotistic disinterest of what is happening until something happens to us)
Ghost of the Navigator (The lyrics are a metaphor of life, with the ship sailing west towards the setting sun representing death)
Brave New World (Loosely based on the 1932 novel by Aldous Huxley)
Dream of Mirrors (Yet another song about reoccurring and maybe premonitory dreams)
Out of the Silent Planet (Supposedly inspired by the 1956 science -fiction film Forbidden Planet)
    From Dance of Death album------
No More Lies (The lyrics deal with someone knows his time has come with the possibility of reincarnation)
Dance of Death (Orinally inspired by Ingmar Bergman's 1957 film The Seventh Seal - Another one to do as a live performance)
Paschendale (about the Battle of Passchendaele during WWI)
From A Matter of Life and Death album------
Brighter than a Thousand Suns (About the dawn of the nuclear bomb age)
The Longest Day (about the WWII Normandy Invasion)
Out of the Shadows (Questioning the meaning of life)
Up the Irons as us Maiden fans say.

    Greeting for Iowa, USA.
Like Sabaton, Iron Maiden have done numerous songs that cover historical events. I would recommend these:
Alexander the Great - Title pretty much says it all.
The Trooper - Charge of the light brigade in the 1854 Crimea War
Aces High - 1940 Battle of Britain
The Clansman - William Wallace versus the British
The Longest Day - 1944 invasion of Normandy
Invaders - 10th century Viking invasion (warning, lots of gore)
I would also recommend Fear of the Dark.
    Stay safe and well.

And another rabbit hole is found :) So many great songs to delve into. You may have heard them on the radio in Europe, here heavy metal at that time very rarely maid mainstream daytime radio and there were no dedicated rock stations. If you've heard them at all then it would probably be something like The Trooper, Flight Of Icarus or Aces High. I'd highly recommend Rime Of The Ancient Mariner, based on the poem of the same name by Coleridge.

I´m 52yrs now and I remember like yesterday the first time when I heard Iron Maiden. It was winter 1981 and their second album Killers. Amazing band! Great stuff. Great reaction, thanks a lot!

Great choice there guys! Iron Maiden always make good people happy! I saw them live a month ago and they were as spectacular as ever! Please react to some more of them. And always live versions.
And to answer the question, yes it is the same music day after day in their concerts and songs that they know how to play in their sleep BUT it is never exactly the same. There are so many variables to a live concert. The band can be at its best or it can be tired or in foul mood, the crowd can be amazing or kind of meh....so many variables. So it is never the exact same thing. That's why some performances are better than others. It is live music. It is so unpredictable as it is to wake up everyday and go on with your life. We repeat certain things but it is never the same. I hope my huge answer helped a little. 😛

Metal minds are like classical music minds, in terms of criativity using complex instrumental that nobody else does,,, metal use a lot of classic music inspiration, a lot of metal singers have classical training two, thats why bands like Nightwish, Iron Maiden, Kamelot, Rhapsody of Fire, Avantasia etc...exist .. And also rock and metal combine very welll with classical instruments... Metallica, Scorpions, Alter Bridge... and many other use orchestras in the back and its just epic---

Maiden has been and IMO will Always be on top of Metal Mountain. Songs on the radio were Flight of Icarus, Two Minutes to Midnight, The Trooper, Can I Play with Madness we're probably played the most.

Try "THE TROOPER" it is about the Crimean War between England and Russia. One of their BEST ! I saw them in 81, 92, 2012, God Bless.

Well, this was a song from 1982 from a gig in 1982. I recommend you as next the song "Fear of the dark" from 1991 in one of the live versions which are on youtube and then a newer song called "When the wild wind blows" in a fantastic live version from Chile. There are so many extraodinary songs in the long career of Iron Maiden, but these from me highly recomended ones will show the genius of Iron Maidens metal style perfectly.

It is not a silly question it actually is a very good intelligent question. Not every night is the same. Obviously the more you practice and get your routine down the better your odds are of pulling it off. Some performances won't be quite as good as others, we're all human after all. This is a big part of the reason most of today's music is shit. It's overproduction, autotunes and lacking in the human element which is not perfect. A group or musician that plays music for real and sounds good or great consistently night after night is the apitomy true hard work and talent. This is certainly lacking in this time and age. Great reaction guys.

Children of the damned, fear of the dark, afraid to shoot strangers, and (the evil that man do)/list goes on an and on . Loving your channel, people discovering metal is such a moving thing for me, since most people I encounter in work or life in general has that view that it's just noise (granted, some of it is noise). Seeing people discover the beauty that for me has been obvious since childhood (thanks to my friends older brothers). It's captivating, and beautiful.
There's so much to discover, and it feelslike you're both going to keep on that journey even without the react part of it, and thats also beautiful. But thanks for letting us tag along for the ride.

there is a lot of styles in metal, your followers just shows you the "light" side of metal. Nightwish, Sabaton, Iron Maiden
but there is also a lot of other metal, that is made for other moods and feelings
"Shadow of Intent" , a band which called themselves a "darkened symphonical Deathcore" band when they recorded "Malediction" - and they made a music video too which is what i ask you to react to :) link: ruclips.net/video/A3fBD9xjqac/видео.html
i know this is not an usual request, this kind of music is a lot harder in any meaning, but that symphonical elements together with Deathcore opened a whole new universe for me to dive in and enjoy ... maybe this happens to you or some followers

for what the woman said in the begining there is many type of metal heavy have a hight basis of classical music so sure it will have melody, there is MANY band that have that what you must be speaking of in the "metal" style might be more "new trasj metal" ( like pantera), death metal or grindcore metal! Like i said you might think all metal style are the same but that something completely false for exemple you could try gothic metal like "type o negative" ("love you to death" for exemple) or wagnerian rock like "meat load" ( for exemple "i would do anything for love") and if you like melody you will like it ( after for type o negative peter steele the singer/bassist had a very deep voice so try if you like deep voices)!

Iron Maiden it's not only very influential, they are the MOST influential and biggest (in terms of quality) heavy metal band of all time. Of course, theres the older and equally important and influential bands like Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, but Iron Maiden is the band that defined the genre for good. Some can say Metallica is bigger, but only in sales and those sales are just because they sold themselves to the mainstream and become the heavy metal band for non metal people, reaching a public that are not exactly metal supporters.

Dominika, you were wondering how many youngsters actually know Iron Maiden. I would say: a lot. Iron Maiden concerts tend to be family events for some. By that I mean that you can find parents with kids as young as 10 years old on the concerts. Three weeks ago I was on the concert in Warsaw and beside me there was a father with, I would say, 12 yo son. The young one rocked hard!

Not where heavy metal started. Black Sabbath can take credit for that, but Judas Priest is the band that defined heavy metal. Iron Maiden came later.

I tell you guys, more so than most bands that have been around for so long...IM has not lost much of their abilities. The vocalist sounds virtually the same now. Listen to a recent live performance.
