    Good video, keep them coming.
The Cross is a Celtic style cross and when King Edwin was King it was under the influence of the Irish Church. The Monks who taught Edwin about Christianity had arrived from the outpost of the Island of Iona, in the Irish Sea.
For Lord of the Rings fans, Edwin's would be assassin, was called Eomer, and J. R. R. Tolkien was Professor of Anglo Saxon at Leeds University before going to Oxford University. He knew his History and you can be sure he knew Eomer, although in the LOTR, Eomer is a goody Rider of Rohan, not a baddie assassin of Sauron.
The Assassin was sent from Wessex, and so was Saxon, but all the others including the Cross are Angles. Deira was absorbed into Northumbria.
I have a series of videos about the Dark Ages😍 for those who wish to know more.

@@victorpearson1418 hi Victor, yes the Lyke Wake Walk goes right past the cross and on towards the sea. I ran it once about 20yrs ago - not sure I could do it again!

If it's in the North it won't be 'Saxon'.
Anglo-Saxon ok, Angle more accurate, but not Saxon.
