    Great video. I grew up in Vallejo in the 60"s. Beautiful town. Too bad Mare Island closed down in 1986 which caused increased unemployment in this area as well.

      Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! Vallejo has a lot to offer ... just the bad aspects make people's radar most of the time!

      More like 1994 Mare Island Shipyard was decommissioned. It's taken awhile though there is a a lot of redevelopment on the island today.

    I've called Vallejo home since December of '93. Had friends who resided in Bencia. Both are great places to live. I believe in Vallejo enough that I've purchased investment properties as well. It's literally a hub & within striking distance of many Bay Area counties including even Santa Clara County which is an hour away off of 680. All the freeways be it 80, 780, 29, or 37 all connect to surrounding counties. I would recommend Vallejo despite it's reputation. You get a good bang for your buck here.

    Those houses are nice but looks waaay waaay to close to each other. It looks extremely crowded. Are there any neighborhoods where you actually have some space and the houses are spaced farther apart?

    • @RichFlemingRealtor
      @RichFlemingRealtor  2 года назад +1

      The spacing of the homes is pretty typical in new areas of the Bay Area. If you're open to an older home, the lots tend to be larger. But they are still small by the standards of many of the other parts of the country. If you have additional questions, contact me directly. I don't get a chance to check all of the comments for all of the videos. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

      San Francisco sadly no different! Depends on the district which Vallejo also has depending on where you plan on moving to. Likewise Benicia.

      All of the footage was shot on location, so there must be some good aspects of the area. Certain areas get nothing but negative coverage in the media.

    • @LanieinIowa

      @@RichFlemingRealtor Most of the locations seen in your video were shots from Benicia or prime real estate locations probably within the city. I know areas that were once considered very desirable are very different now. And 'm being very polite. Do you personally spend any time driiving through the city?

    • @RichFlemingRealtor
      @RichFlemingRealtor  2 года назад +7

      @@LanieinIowa ... yes, I spend a fair amount of time in Vallejo of time in Vallejo. I owned a business off of Tennessee St and I have numerous friends that live in various parts of Vallejo. Vallejo, like many cities has its challenges ... if you're looking for videos that just focus on those challenges, feel free to view another channel.

    • @LanieinIowa
      @LanieinIowa 2 года назад +7

      @@RichFlemingRealtor I don't need to follow a channel you can drive through the city and see for yourself. It's very sad, beautiful city now riddled with problems. Just represent it fairly and honestly. The most honest thing that wasn't polished up was the comment about the school district. I don't let my elderly parents out shopping alone at night . Moved my kids out of Vallejo schools. There are now security doors on our homes, cameras. That's reality.

      Sounds like someone only wants to focus on negatives, but this day in age it’s not too hard to look around any area with great exceptions and see negative actives going on around you. Vallejo is a lovely city that has had to deal with a lot over the years but I have chosen to spend my 25+ yr career so far in Vallejo instead of the town I was born and still live in, napa. Napa being a highly desired area has for sure gotten it’s fair amount of helping over the years when Vallejo may have been passed over. As to why work in Vallejo over napa where there is work for me, I like the diversity that is in Vallejo and I could be wrong but I believe it’s the most or in the very top of diversified city’s probably the whole county and the fishing is pretty good around here to boot!!! Thanks guys and good luck!

    Average home prices are over $700k. We humans have very short lives, averaging 60-70 years, and I think we will spend our whole lives paying mortgages and bills. Is it worth living in California anymore?

    • @RichFlemingRealtor
      @RichFlemingRealtor  Месяц назад

      That is true ... there are ways of dramatically reducing the length of time it takes to pay off your mortgage.

    Nice areas missed: Glen Cove, mare island, the point/ golf course. That said the nicest parts of vallejo are on the OUTSKIRTS of town. Benecia is a small town that is very very NIMBY. tale of two cities. Appreciate showing of the finer sides, but generally everything in the middle of town is down right dangerous. Stay safe.

    Hey Bro...Benicia and Vallejo are in the NORTH Bay Not the EAST Bay..!!
    And Please don't group Benicia and Vallejo together...They are NOT even close to being similar.

    • @RichFlemingRealtor
      @RichFlemingRealtor  2 года назад +6

      I agree ... they are in the North Bay. But, it's not uncommon to hear people from the area refer to it as the East Bay. I grouped Vallejo and Benicia together because they are geographically close to each other and have shared history. You're free to do your own videos if you don't appreciate my groupings.

    Vallejo and Benicia have NOTHING in common. Well one thing, if you live in (the much smaller) Benicia and need any non-common services you'll have to choose between Vallejo which is close or make a long trip to Fairfield or pay to cross the bridge to cities south. Vallejo is to be avoided. High crime, bad streets, you name it. Benicia is a nice and quiet little city but when all you have for major services is Vallejo or a long trek somewhere else, it's not very convenient.

      Vallejo definitely has its crime challenges in certain areas and the results for the school district, as a whole, need improvement, but casting whole city as dangerous and all the school are like sh*t is blatantly false.
