Nina you are the best at these backgrounds. Thanks for the lessons.
Awww, thanks so much Cynthia! :):) x
These look so fun to make! Can't wait to see what you make with them 🥰
I love this idea. I really like them stripped together as you have them displayed at the end of the video. No end to great ideas with paint and paper. Thanks -Marsha from Texas
Thanks Marsha. I think they look lovely stipped together too :)
There is beauty in color! Love them.
Thanks so much Terri. Aren't they fun!
Just revisited this video after 5 years and feel like it's all new again. I'll have to visit the kids' store for a variety of acrylic paints.
So much accomplished on a short time. Thanks again Nina.
Great technique!!! And a paint saver too. Great "painty" papers. THANKS!
Austin,TX USA
Thanks Barbara, glad you like them 💕
Good idea, and I love those fine rectangle lines the blocks leave behind. Great background, thanks Nina!
Thanks Mieke. Glad you enjoyed it :)
Great way to make those backgrounds. Thanks, Nina!!!!
Thanks Tori. Glad you enjoyed it! :)
This was an excellent tutorial! I often struggle with creating mud and this definitely solved the issue as well as provided a guideline as to how to have a beautiful finished background. Thank you for sharing this technique.
I adore this technique!! My favorite page is the one where you used the side of the block and ended up with a plaid sort of background. Thank so much for sharing!
Isn't it fun! I've made some lovely things with these pages which I will share in a day or two :) xox
Great way to break a blank page and end up with a fabulous background!
Thanks Lainey. This is so quick and easy. Distress Inks work really well too!
I love making up a big batch of background papers - even the ones that turn out a bit muddy have interesting areas that are great for ATCs or die cuts x
+Teresa Morgan I agree, if a background goes wrong, I cut it up and use it for ATC’s. Things can often look more beautiful in smaller pieces ❤️ x
This is a fun idea, especially for those times when I feel like doing something with paint and paper, but not really up to creating a full journal page.
Thanks Victoria. This is so easy and so much fun. I've been busy making things with these pages and I'll share what I've been up to in a day or two!
What a fantastic idea! And you get two backgrounds out of it. This is certainly a good way to chase away my fear of a white page. :)
Thank you. You can create a lot of colourful pages in a very short space of time. I've been busy making things with these pages and I'll share another video in a day or two!
Splodging and plonking . . . these are official art terms! At least, they are now! :) Wonderful Nina!
I love this idea! I had so much fun creating a couple background pieces just from cleaning off my brush while doing paint samples recently and I've been wanting to play with a brayer... Will look forward to video showing ideas for using the background pieces once they're made. TFS have a great day!
You will love playing with a brayer, so much fun! Enjoy :)
Looks simple and easy enough. Love the technique. Thanks.
Thanks Penny. This is so much fun to do!
All of your backgrounds are stunning. You looked like you were really having fun. I can't wait to give it a try. You are always inspirational.
Thank you! This technique is so easy and so much fun! I love playing like this :) x

Easy backgrounds and so lovely! TFS, Nina!
Thanks Gail. So much fun!
Thank you so much Nina, those page’s are really really Awesome and Stunning Too.... I really really love ❤️ all of them too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Thanks so much Mags. I must try this technique again. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas 💕 xxxx
Love how all your papers have worked out . I will definitely try this for background .. love the plaid effect ... thank you Nina . x
Absolutely fabulous... every time I make an acrylic painting, I end up with some leftover paints... this is perfect to use those paints , I mostly brushed them on a scrap of paper but this will make an addition to my pattern paper stash...thank you thank you thank you for sharing this... lots of love
What a great idea! So many possibilities for backgrounds. Thank you Nina.
So quick and easy to make too!
Oh I love the effects it's made especially the grid lines from the back of the blocks... I don't have a brayer or many blocks but I might try it with a sponge roller see how that goes!! Thanks for all your fabulous ideas.... can't wait to see what you do with the finished papers xx
The grid creates some fabulous texture doesn't it. A sponge will work just as well as a brayer. When I did this last year with Distress Inks, I am pretty sure I only used one acrylic block. I've been playing with these all afternoon, so another video to follow shortly! xx
Nina Ribena Oh yes I used my Brushos for the first time last week had so much fun..... I love it. I love your videos Nina.... especially when I know I can try and get things in UK.
What a lovely way to use up some of my cheap acrylic paints. I always thought you needed a jelly plate to do this. Another project to do once my craft room is cleaned. TYFS ☺♥
It’s such a fun way to make backgrounds. Enjoy 💕
Hi Nina, I've started to make these beautiful papers and I've reviewed this so I know I'm going in the right direction..... I will show you when I've finished them. I've see the next. +Mags Nash Lovely to hear you're diving in with this one Mags. Can't wait to see your photo's ❤️
WOWZA that is totally fab!!! I do remember you making these going to "search" for my blocks and do it myself. Thanks for showing this again
Isn't it fun! You will love doing this! :)
I just love what you use and come up with the most simple of tools. I can't wait to use this method for my next masterboards. Thank you!
Thank you and Happy Creating 💕
Very inspiring…thank you!
I always love the colors you choose.
Thanks Karenlynn :)
Just gorgeous painty papers!
Lovely! I've done something similar using various size and shape gel plates (and stencils along with them) and made long pieces to use as wrapping paper. The technique is similar but the results are so different, each wonderful. Thank you for sharing!
Wow! Great idea. I've never seen this technique before. Love the bright colors. I'm going to try this soon.
You will love this technique. Very easy and highly addictive!
I love the look of those backgrounds! 😍
Fun and easy! Great idea Nina! Adore the one you used the sides of you stamp blocks on. Tfs! ♡♡
Thanks Susan. I think that's my favourite one too!
These are fabulous , I love them all.
Thanks Ann. So much fun!
These turned out really effective.Really love the paler ones you did using kids paint!.Now look forward to seeing how you use them 😄X
Aren't they fun! There's another video to follow soon! :) xx
Fun process and lovely result. I have been trying to make my own backgrounds for cards and your video has been perfect for me. Thank you for showing the ones you completed and giving a general idea of the paint thickness and card weight. Hints like that make it so much easier to get successful results. I had tried something similar with poor results but l realise now that the acrylic paint was thick, heavy and sticky. I was also applying it to heavily to my block. I am ready to try again!
+Linda Giles Thanks so much for taking the time to comment Linda. Its good to hear this was helpful to you. I have been making some things with these pages that may be of interest and I'll be uploading another video in a day or two.
Thanks Nina, I like the backgrounds you created, especially when you used the side of the block as well. I'm going to experiment with this technique, looks like fun. tfs.😊
Thanks Helen. This is so easy and fun. Happy creating! :)
As I've said before you are truely the Queen of backgrounds. I learn so much, just wish I could retire to experiment, sooooooon. I have so many ideas in my head to make my own scrapbook background pages. Hugs Joy

Thanks for sharing....I love these backgrounds and so easy to do.
Thanks Gail.
I really like this technique and plan to try it. Thank you for sharing.
Have fun!
I like the idea for sure, but do not have acrylic blocks.(I know that's strange, but there has not been a need for that purchase.) However, I believe there are other options for me to have a go with. Little left over pieces of wood from house projects, acrylic frame used for dendritic patterns, and scraps of fabric. The fabric may be a little challenging, but perhaps taping it to wood would work so there will be more texture. It will be worth having fun playing around with the possibilities. Thank you for sharing your technique.
As you say, there are so many possibilities for printing like this. You could also use a credit card on the flat!
You can make stamps with stencils, too!

This is an awesome idea, I have been doing the same thing with my smaller Gelli Plates, tfs Nina gorgeous prints.
Thanks Maggie. That was what gave me the idea. I tried it with Distress Inks last year and it worked really well. I thought it would be an alternative for anyone who hasn't got a Gelli Plate.
I have the same Longines watch. Love it.
I just love this. Seems so easy, which I like. You pick such pretty colors that go together so well. TFS
