And everything the defendant said was hear-say she had no proof of anything she said about the emails, her son, nor about the other person he apparently wanted to move in, so SHE was in breach of the contract and should have had to return all his deposit, as it is her fault he had to move out so quickly and was not given the time to return the key. And why do landlords make such a big fuss about a key any way, it's not like the tenant can't make a copy. I would change the locks for every new tenant anyway...

Giving back the key is a moot point since the tenant can make a copy of the key. Seems like a landlord needs to rekey a house or an apt. every time someone leaves. $350 bucks is VERY high! I wonder why the roommate didn't talk to him before he tattled on him to that ridiculous landlord and her abusive manager son?

I feel like the landlord/current tenant//son we’re in on a hustle to get him out. The way she bragged about the current tenant proved it. Also, her son managing her place is a liability for her the way he spoke to that dude, who actually LEFT when asked w/o being a jerk about it. Someone else in the comments said it best, he dodged a whole freight train not living there for long.
