The original Flir One was a "sled" specifically designed to work with the iPhone 5/5s, and I bought one to use in helping fellow amputees pinpoint fit issues with prostheses. Not as intuitive as it might seem, and the results were promising. It wasn't needed for a couple of years, but then it was. I was still using the 5s, so hooked it up and it worked great - for 60 seconds before going dark. Power-cycled, it again worked for 60 seconds, then failed. In what was absolutely the worst, most rude customer service experience I've ever encountered in many years of buying stuff, I learned that Flir decided to stop supporting the software for the original model, even though the 5s was still being supported in iOS at the time, and the SE still is today, so the original would continue to be in use. Flir then offered a discount on a new purchase, but only on the most expensive model, with capabilities that I didn't need. Flir makes great equipment, but understand that they apparently feel no loyalty to, or appreciation for, their customers, and may seemingly drop support for the model you buy today, even though it would otherwise still work.
8.7fps is not what gives you the stutter. What gives you the stutter is automatic recalibration, which when it happens, the aperture is blocked by a small motorized shield that presumably has the same temperature as the sensor chip, so the sensor will read its own IR emission. The value is then subtracted during normal operation, so that you are reading the true temperature of the target, not the sensor. Otherwise you won't be able to reliably read temperatures lower than the sensor. Recalibration is triggered by rapid temperature change, extreme temperatures or timer expiration, so it may seem a bit random, but that's exactly what it's designed to do.
Great answer, thanks for the detail =) We have an older IR camera at work and it stutters so much. About 2 second every 30 seconds. Really annoying. This seems to be really fast with calibration.
No way, the only ghosts are demons and other dead angel spirits and you cannot see with your own eye unless the spirit, or demon shows itself on purpose
Ghost don’t radiate heat, and orbs are out of focus back lit dust in the air. You might be able lost pets and people from drones, that would be worth while.
@@RynaxAlien Its probably because similar advanced infrared cameras are used in military technology, and the government doesn't want companies possibly exporting that advanced tech to other countries.
@@Ry_TSG the interesting things that might prove this theory is if there are commercial IR cameras that are only possible to get in other countries or in other regions like in Europe. If it’s possible to get a camera with a faster refresh rate in let’s say the UK then that could prove that it might be the government technically that is to blame for less advanced Commercial IR cameras. If it’s possible to buy a faster camera from Europe or something and it gets blocked at the border when you import it then it could prove the theory true.
Highlighted reply What does body temperature have to do with taking ecstasy? I guess because molly makes you overheat, you wouldn’t want to take it on a fever. Good man.
wauue the app is free !! mindblowing 1:27 , lol are you making an commercial or what?? if you dont have the app you cant use the freaking product. stop bending your lack of backbone in the chase for coins. but yeah a commercial disguised since you doint even point out the other alternative wich got massive 4 times the resolution. i regards to the seek pro IOS with 320x240 thermal sensor (77k) vs this 120x160 (19k). biggest advantage with this, is less grain (could be the lower res) and the MSX outline tech. but also a huge cons this inbuild batt imo. weird they can feed it on the power line, the seek pro with way higher res consumes something 0.250ma at nominel usb
You conveniently forgot to mention that the Seek Pro, while a worthy competitor, is still *more* expensive, at $499. If money is no objection, this Fluke is a lot better still, with 1024x768 resolution *and* a 30 Hz framerate. www.fluke.com/en-us/product/thermal-imaging/infrared-cameras/expert-series/fluke-tix1000

Let’s be honest , I’m gonna use it to find ghosts
No way, the only ghosts are demons and other dead angel spirits and you cannot see with your own eye unless the spirit, or demon shows itself on purpose
Alex Did you try? Does it really work for ghosts hunting? I want to buy one cause our house is haunted!
@@mrred9789 yes it does work and once you use it for that purpose, you’ll not want to use it as often 😂

@@nathanb.8114 wtf are you taking about you make no sense 🥴🤦🏻♂️
So does the cold and warm images mean moisture when your looking for water leaks?
Can I use it to find hidden cameras
Does it work for the newer iPhones?
The low refresh rate is because the legal limit in the US is 9Hz without a specialized permit.
Can you explain this ridiculous permit requirement?
Yes please explain!

What happens when you upgrade to the next iPhone?
Can it detect the temperature as well like some thermal camera do?
Yes
Had attempted robbery at my yard and police were notified and thief took off in woods. Would this work if this happens again to see 200 ft away ?
iPhone should put this technology in its phones then I’d pay for the extra 3 /5 hundred dollars
Using to check the wife if she's ready to roll 😮
Highlighted reply What does body temperature have to do with taking ecstasy? I guess because molly makes you overheat, you wouldn’t want to take it on a fever. Good man.
LMAO!!
Lol!
Do I need to download a flir application to use the camera
Can I connect it to VR headset?
Just for iPhone?
Would this work in finding a lost dog in the woods?
You lost your dog?
What is the resolution
whats the distance for these i want one but not if i can only see 6 feet
Great video and I love the product! Very useful Thank you!
J'ouvert/Iridescence sent me here from the future
It's a bit pricy at $370. Not sure it brings enough value to justify it.
There's also the non-pro version for $200
The Cat S61 should've had this Flir.
Just get a stand-alone thermal imager. These don't last and the older models aren't supported when the app is updated.
Can I ask what's the brand of your iPhone case please??? looks cool too! thanks
the adjustable connector is not long enough to engage my iPhone 8 thru otterbox case. very very dissapointing
Why not make it comparable with multiple phones? Should be able to have 1 device and switch out the connector.
Should have ben an posible to take pictures of the ir scale in the picture🙁
Does it work for android?
change the lightning to the micro-usb
is that work only with iPhone 😢😢
There is an Android USB-C version.
And if i buy the Apple versione and After use a convert jack for android?
I want one
1:12 magic
Which case is that?
tell them how the battery has a 3v Drain, and in a few months it will be bricked, since you cannot change the internal battery.....
I can't get my dam vidya or pic to work other than using screenshot and screen recorder app
For what I’d use it for 1hour isn’t enough
Cool concept
gonna be able to see a warm body exiting the back door when you come home to the wife.
Lol!
But it’s so expensive :(
I don't have it
You could go squatching! 😂
Todd Hensley yup
amazing
You go to show grandma and she’s not orange….
Heyy..hallo ...You can scan someone who is exposed to the corona virus, through his body heat using that tool..😁😁
Cool , hang on let me just take out my wallet and oooh what do you knowwww . I'm broke
Was gonna get it but $400 hmm nah... I was expecting to b me $150-200. Way too much to spend $400 for something that won’t b used everyday
There is a consumer version that sells for $199.
Or you can just get a CAT S60
I’m really annoyed that Karen’s want to disable the thermal camera. It can be so useful in the dark
Yeah that’s why I’m gonna is a tough time to do this
Junk. HT-301 is much better
Gross! It turns everyone to Gingers!
You wanna talk any lower? Skipped
$400 for laggy video? lol
Flir sucks. Won't work on my phone.
