The FAA safety guidelines. Fly below 400 feet and remain clear of surrounding obstacles Keep the aircraft within visual line of sight at all times Remain well clear of and do not interfere with manned aircraft operations Don't fly within 5 miles of an airport unless you contact the airport and control tower before flying Don't fly near people or stadiums Don't fly an aircraft that weighs more than 55 lbs Don't be careless or reckless with your unmanned aircraft - you could be fined for endangering people or other aircraft
+Franco Barrios As an American I can personally tell you Americans don't care if you think its ok or not. If the FAA thinks planes are in jeopardy (any commercial airline worldwide) because of drones, they will attack drone users with the force of the American Gov't and find a way to ban everybody from using drones. Most countries have laws requiring drone users to fly below 400ft, 120 meters, lets keep that way before they start regulating drones like they regulate drivers...
TechBreak What are you classing as the max altitude here? Rules by DJI and CAA or FAA say 120m (400ft) max. But the phantom 3 can go up to 500m above the home location. So which was it? Great footage btw!
Nice! I've been at the castle and slept several times at the Adare Manor Hotel, And Dunraven Arms, whenever I visted Limerick. Good times. Just gotta love Ireland.
TechBreak pretty sure you can go higher since the phantom 2 use to go higher and hardware is mostly the same. The question is should you try to go to the edge of the signal and let your 1500$ at the mercy of wet clouds and other things, ... must be a tough choice...(example in this video DJI Phantom High Altitude Run 2350 ft. - RUclips)
Great video. I have phantom 3 standard and enjoy flying , responsibly of course. I never fly above 400 ft. Limit. Would like to go higher but the signal strength is limited. I see on here where owners of more expensive drones fly so high that you need a telescope to see it. I'm not able to do that but I enjoy mine all the same. Ireland looks lush and green in this video, nice one!
I love when others test the equipment I also own so that I don't have too :) Must have been a very calm day. I've seen videos where the winds at that altitude would keep the drone up in the air.
that's sweet I'm def going to have to get my hands on one i can't wait :) just curious i know it all depends on your flying and all but what the avg flight time you have been getting with it ?
Awesome video!!What's the maximum height you reached? (Although I believe I can't do that here in Japan. The max is 250 m away from airports and flight routes or 150 m 9 km away from airports) Also, what's the frame rate? I've flown a phantom 3 standard and taken 1080p video at 30 fps but when you pan, the video sucks to watch unless you pan reaalllly slowly! The Standard's highest fps rate is 48 fps at 1080 and 30 fps at 2.7K.
Hi Tech Just can't till mine turns up on my door within the next three days, Well keep it in gsight for now but hope one day to have it up there Thanks for posting
Chris Williams youre correct, the phantom 3 pro and 4k have the 4k cameras, but if im not mistaken both the 4k and 2.7k have the edge distortion reducing lens
Hello, I like quacopter videos because they give aerial view of cities. I hope you are not against your video added on Wikimapia. I'm an English teacher, and I contribute some English translation there. Also, we seem to share the same passion of filming places. +1
You lucky, me unlucky. Took my Discovery (Naza M Lite) JUST into cloud, that was the last I saw or heard from it again. Just come home Disco, there won't be any trouble - honestly. Sniff.....
What if there were an aircraft at 1500' (500m), or in the cloud you passed through? Either way there is no chance he would see your drone & you could have taken down the aircraft & killed its occupants. I know there are fewer small planes in Ireland than the USA, but it only takes one incident. The 400' (120m) max altitude AGL is one all drone pilots must know and observe. Please consider how you would feel if you caused such an accident, not to mention the effect on the surviving families and the future of drone flying & regulation worldwide.
+Sandy Trevor Hey Sandy, there's a tool that I use called FlightTrader24 which lets me know exactly what airports are nearby, and also lets me know the flight path of every plane that's currently in the sky in my area. It's a very handy tool my friend. I can assure that not all drone pilots are out here flying blind buddy. Fly Safe and God Bless. - Jon
+Jon Gall flight radar is no way of telling if there is going to be an imminent collision as there are deliberate delays imposed in the aircraft positioning for security reasons.
+Jon Gall That app does not let you know of EVERY flight that is nearby. If a company has chosen to block tracking on their aircraft, they are allowed to do so. If an aircraft is flying VFR and is not ADS-B capable, that flight will not show up either. Please be safe and also don't give out advice to others if you don't know what you are taking about.
HI - i did 500m in Leeds yesterday - check the vid Does anyone know how do you get it to go beyond 500m, please? It may not be a good idea - imagine taking down a 747...
You can see why these would so useful to police or military. The camera is hi res, and from height, the image is super stable. A bad guy would have trouble hiding methinks, and when you add the sort of stuff an unlimited budget would buy like heat sensitive cameras, it's game over. On the down side I Googled this hoping to find that drones couldn't fly this high, and that news report of a near miss near Christchurch airport was bull shit, but looks like it could easily have been a drone (it happened at 6,000 feet). Oh well. Enjoy it while you are still allowed to fly it. :-(
Sorry! I recorded in 4K and have the settings saved on my iMac to export in 4K, but I edited this video through my MacBook and didn't realize the settings till it was too late.
Beautiful scenery, but altitude tests like these give the FAA ammunition to restrict this hobby/industry more than it already does. Mandatory registration is already on the horizon, the next steps will be way more severe. Fly safe people. Your actions affect the entire industry. If/when a drone does hit an airplane you can say goodbye to the hobby. If you don't think a drone can damage an airplane you need to brush up on your physics.
+Brian Schmitt The FAA doesn't have jurisdiction in Ireland where this video was shot. :) Just here in the US. You're thinking of the CAA/IAA. But anyway, mere altitude tests aren't what I worry about. The people I worry about most are the idiots who think they're master pilots just because they went to Best Buy and dropped a thousand dollars on a quadcopter toy that "flies itself". All it will take is one moron to stupidly crash one of these into a crowd of people, or fly directly over an airport or a government building, setting the ball rolling to ruin it for the rest of us who follow common sense.
+Felamine not trying to hate, honestly not trying to haha, but wasn't everyone like that when they started, kept losing control of them and crashing them ?
Vidio ini hanya untuk membuktikan DJI Phantom punya kemampuan yang cukup baik.Tapi operator drone yang belum profesional sebaiknya jangan melakukan hal ini.Ini dapat berakibat fatal.
All these people that quote the FAA rules on these are obviously stupid these videos are done where the FAA had no authority. Although I do not approve of flights like these it is awesome but foolish you are putting people at needless risk air traffic although light in that area still exists and not to mention control loss at these altitudes are more likley causing uncontrolled landing/crash risking people on the ground. It will happen eventually if all you keep doing this.
This video made me realise that some trees really looks like broccolis from above... Great video by the way! :)

Thanks Jeremy, you too.
Dont fly
+tlfunk51 I couldnt find a clear answer to this, but doesnt the FAA only apply in the United States?
Franco Barrios Yes, but generally the guidelines are shared through out ICAO, which has a large portion of the world included.
+Franco Barrios As an American I can personally tell you Americans don't care if you think its ok or not. which golf course is that? Looks lovely, and tough with all that water.

Thanks for posting this video
Did you update the drone. How did get that altitude with the faa setting.
Great footage you got there! Curious, what was the max altitude you got to?
Thank you! The max is set at 500 meters, but I don't know if you could go higher if you hack it some how.
Elliot Clowes Me too

yes very true
are you happy with the machine so far? have you done anything to it or is it all stock out of the box ?
I love it so far! It's all stock, but I plan on customizes it at some point in the future.
that's sweet I'm def going to have to get my hands on one i can't wait :) just curious i know it all depends on your flying and all but what the avg flight time you have been getting with it ?
Its like 24mins max flight time afaik
Really happy with the it! It's couple months later and it's still all stock.
You kept hidden well! Some great locations around there to film, looked great.
Ace tune. Great vid!
How did you get such vivid colours?
what was the max height you reached?
Michael Mayhew DJI limit your height to 500 meters so I assume he reaches this altitude.
Must have been awesome flying this thing dude ahhaah, one question though... what video editing program did you use?
Awesome video!!What's the maximum height you reached? (Although I believe I can't do that here in Japan. The max is 250 m away from airports and flight routes or 150 m 9 km away from airports)

is this in Ireland is this drone really worth it like the dji in general I've been so close to buying one now
Where in Ireland are you? Am getting a Phantom 3 tomorrow or Friday. We are up in Belfast
sammni Glad to see that im not the only one flying drones in Belfast :)
Gaming isnotacrime
Haha update, My dad flew his drone into trees and broke it already. Of to Germany we go!
Are you going to Germany to fix it?? lol add me on FB so we can keep in touch!! facebook.com/lolloUK
this is friggin awesome
this is phantom 3 4k or phantom 3 profissional?
4k test at 1080p?
Hi Tech
Just can't till mine turns up on my door within the next three days, Well keep it in gsight for now but hope one day to have it up there Thanks for posting
this is phantom 3 standard?
this is very cool man
so green, I live in California so you know why. Would love to live in a beautiful place like that though
You should have more subscribers
Thanks! Have to start some where thou :D
how many meters have you reach ??
How did you tilt the camera?
There is a little wheel on the controller
Love that music.
Thanks!
did you attach a hero4 ?
phantom 3s come with a dedicated 4k camera that has less distortion around the edges of a gopro
DAMON STAHL - 2.7k Camera to Correct you
Chris Williams youre correct, the phantom 3 pro and 4k have the 4k cameras, but if im not mistaken both the 4k and 2.7k have the edge distortion reducing lens
How high was that? I just got my phantom 3.
500m (illegal in ireland, you should only be 120m)
There is a video saying reached 1500 meters of altitude with DJI Phantom 2, so isn't it possible with PH 3?
+Hayrii „Hayri“ Kaya with the right antenna modding im sure its possible

What's the name of the song
omg cool video!
You lucky, me unlucky. Took my Discovery (Naza M Lite) JUST into cloud, that was the last I saw or heard from it again. Just come home Disco, there won't be any trouble - honestly. Sniff.....
Just disable max altitude and you can go about aprox. 2.5 km and longer, though it all depends on where your antennas are facing. And the weather
NPK Alex| Fox25 How do you disable max altitude???
Go into settings of it.
NPK Alex| Fox25 are you sure max alititude can be disabled.. i thought DJI hard coded it so it cant be changed.. ??
Nope, it can be changed. It is in the DJI pilot's settings where you can adjust.
NPK Alex| Fox25
No , it cant be changed in app from DJI
What height were you
It went up to 500 meters
+TechBreak how did you take of the flight restrictions? I thought they automatically stopped at 120 meters or 400 ft??
Very nice video
At one stage we all have to try, only once doe good capture. ..peace
Anyone know the name of the tune please?
umm where is the 4k???? i only see 1080p
Specs say the mavic ceiling is 5000m and mines on order
500m , not 5000m
Max Service Ceiling Above Sea Level 16404 feet (5000 m)
Above Sea Level... Not Distance from controller
7k range ceiling 5k4
I'd fly it all over the god damn place
it is very very great and niiiice
Why doesn't this guy share the max altitude in numbers in his description? That is why I clicked on his vid. I'm looking for numbers...
This is clearly not in the US. It only takes a few moments to notice they are driving on the left side of the road!
What if there were an aircraft at 1500' (500m), or in the cloud you passed through? What was the actual height buddy?? Was it the restricted 120m?
This is easily more than 120m lol
Excelente! Parabéns!!
Turn off beginner mode then set max altitude and then write 500 m
U can find it in dji phantom app for ios or android
ss ss Don't be that guy that takes down a passenger jet. Stay under 400 feet.
I already go to max altitude 500 m
+bradbbs all the bs about taking down a satellite. Nothing got hit or taken down in 4 years
+John Law yet...
HI - i did 500m in Leeds yesterday - check the vid
Does anyone know how do you get it to go beyond 500m, please? It may not be a good idea - imagine taking down a 747...
Leeds Phantom "imagine taking down a 747...... with a P3???, don't worry about B747, even smash into JETturbin, not noticeably.
If that's a P3 it'll fly way higher than that. 18,000 feet in theory. 400 feet is FAA. not sure what the rules are in Ireland.
You can see why these would so useful to police or military. The camera is hi res, and from height, the image is super stable. It's 4K, Just condensed down to 1080p. That's what you should do anyways. Good work TechBreak
@@techbreak could you reccomend some decent video editing software for a beginner?
A height test is not that! Rather a threat to air traffic!
