On the gm 2.4 water pump… the reset of the tensioner, do you leave the pin in, install it then remove the pin? It seems like it would just go all the way back out and still be to tight? I would greatly appreciate it if you could send me in the right direction. I’ve pulled that tensioner and did as you said but it won’t stay down on its own when I pull the pin. I just don’t want to put it all back together just to have the same issue. Thank you for sharing!

When you pull the pin it will tension itself automatically.
