This video has helped me achieve my dreams of being a IKEA dinning table. I wouldn't have done it without this inspirational video, I truly thank the Creator for this. I'm now going to school to study the arts of being a dinning table, and also I'm teaching children about how I saw this video and how it changed my life, my table skills are amazing now thanks to this.
While I’m not sure if labeling Aya as an anti hero is correct, at the end of the day she is no different from her father and her mother. Aya is cruel and not a good person by any stretch of the word. She’s a eugenicist who disguises herself as being a safe haven for those wanting to become better. And instead she takes their lives away. Even when confronted by her latest victim (the girl with green eyes; who aya noticeably compliments that feature), she doesn’t care. She has deluded herself into thinking she’s doing good, when I reality she’s become a monster just like her parents. I like mad father a lot and part of why is because we see Aya become the very thing she defeated, and it’s foreshadowed throughout the story.
I dont even think aya was going to put a stop the curse/ stop alfred if he wasnt planning on killing her. Shes very much a product of her environment and despite knowing the suffering alfred caused she continues to perpetuate. Shes flew past morally grey aaaaaaagges ago
> Killing people who are coming to seek medical aid and not death > "To some, an evil act." SOME??? SOME??? I'M PRETTY SURE MURDERING PEOPLE WHO DON'T WANT TO DIE IS PRETTY UNIVERALLY CONSIDERED AN EVIL ACT. Edit: Great video though, 10/10
Creepcast be shaking in their boots with this one. And yeah gothic horror needs to be taken away from just mere aesthetic understandings. As a world literature teacher, the core of horror is not actually the jumpscare, but rather the unknown beyond the veil and how humans react to it. Sometimes, it seems like a subset of dark fantasy more than anything.
Gothic horror is great, I think it just suffers from being a bit to slow for most people since it requires a lot of commitment to really set itself up. Also old literature can be a slog to get through due to just how archaic some of the writing and scructuring can be.
i remember watching old youtube going mad over all the cool rpgmaker games back then and it was so cool back then. love that you're doing a video on it.
I love the fact that they're really easy to play and the fact that you only have to think about how you play when it comes to separate endings and such. It highlights the story and the visuals more and ends up being as accessible as the amount of languages is translated to.
'm happy that this game is being talked about years later. However, your analysis is complete and interesting. I loved the part dedicated to Alfred but I would have preferred it to talk more about Maria and her relationship with him, for example beyond loyalty, the fear she had of him, which even she only realized at the end
rpg maker games are really my favorite genre i still love, as someone who could only play free games when i was a minor, they were super accessible too and could work on almost any pc! Mad Father and Ib had been replayed maaany times haha
one fun fact is that Mad Father, and The Crooked man are actually built in Wolf RPG Editor. Unlike RPG maker, wolf RPG editor is completely free. In fact you could download it today to make your own game without spending a cent. The catch is that all the documentation and tutorials for the wolf RPG editor are in Japanese.
I hit the like, now I must remind GrayMads about the crying kid in a basement game. When will "the Binding of Isaac: Repentance" be recognized by you? 😱

The liminal space of a dining table.

@@graymads Agreed. If it wasn't for me explaining certain things, there's no way my students would make it through those books.
Interesting video, but crooked man and shadow the hedgehog slander shall not be tolerated 😤
I did slander the crooked man, but dont get it twisted, that wasn't slander for shadow lmao

I love RPG Maker games. They get flack for being really basic, but that's part of the charm.
I love the fact that they're really easy to play and the fact that you only have to think about how you play when it comes to separate endings and such. It highlights the story and the visuals more and ends up being as accessible as the amount of languages is translated to.
You spoiled DORIAN GRAY ON ME, I SWEAR MAN I SWEAR
Babe, wake up, new Graymads video!!
Just motivated me to give Mad Father a try, thanks Mads!
Your videos almost have a retro vibe, makes me miss 120 minutes and my teen years in the 90s

This game is so beautiful, one of the most well made of the RPG Maker horror games of that era. Alongside with Ib, it's one of my favorites for sure
Cant wait to play this one
new graymads just dropped
The Portrait of Dorian Gray has been on my read list for a while
House of Leaves is one of the best modern gothic horror novels that could oddly work as a game.
Halfway through the video and already bought the game on Steam. For anyone seeing this, at the time of me posting this it's 50% off on Steam btw.
why he so mad tho
a man of culture, I must say 👌🏻🖤
Sorta disappointing how this video isn’t as prolific as some of your other work… RPG horror back in the day was an awesome era. 😂

the story plot twist made me almost cry, i loved the symbolism and how david hoover changes as a person in the end.
I hit the like, now I must remind GrayMads about the crying kid in a basement game.
When will "the Binding of Isaac: Repentance" be recognized by you?
