In defense of the guy at 4:40 patchworkpupper, he replied to the scammer nearly a month before replying to guy warning him it was a scam so he was aware in the end

DC is good at spotting scammers and art thieves. But damn. He can't read properly.
My joke was that he was illiterate, not blind. Tomatoes, Tomátoes really. It was meant as a comedic exaggeration of his oversight. Like... Jokes. You know? How do I explain this... Ok. We Humans sometimes exaggerate somethings to elicit an emotional (you could call it bio-chemical) response. It's an interesting (even if illogical) part of our culture.

They are. Mostly. There is still lowbrow humor, but still. The important thing here is how the quality of the humor is VERY VERY VERY subjective. Like, one of the MOST subjective things in human nature.

paint patter All you have to do is look up a picture of a horse or literally google "horse anatomy." What do you mean you're not old enough?
Well for me personally, I started with bases and slowly learned how to draw without them, it made it easier for me to understand the size of things like head and hooves and the shapes and all that, if I tried doing it just by looking at the reference it would take me way longer tbh, but since I started with bases and then tracing over said bases over and over again I learned pretty fast and now I no longer need them :) Not everyone can really work with references only, every artist is different :)

I say "you do you", as well as a lot of other people I've met. It doesn't mean what you think it means. To us it just basically translates to "do what you like". For example:
Me: Hey, I think you should stop spending so much money on corn chips.
Person: No.
Me: Ok, you do you then.
It feels like I'm making an Urban Dictionary translation.

During 4:40 , they aren’t acting dumb, if you look at the dates, you’d see they bought the adopt waaay earlier than when the scamming was pointed out to them.
I hate when people try to resell adopts... I mean, using bases for adopts as long as they're F2U and you credit them, isn't the bad thing seeing as you are selling the OC design, not the art. But these designs, even the few she seemed to come up with on her own, are so lazy seriously.

I hate the fact adopts exist, I mean, really why? It’s not a character their using, and your paying to draw them when you could just draw them for free, in your style.

Edgy Toucan well, you're also paying to own the character design and use them in any work you want including stories, art, comics and whatever else you choose to use them for. When you buy an adopt, you own the entire character to do whatever you please with them and give them all the backstory, personality, and whatever else you give characters. It's not just about drawing it.

Related to the recoloring thing, I remember the days of just stealing Koopaling drawings and tracing the original drawings to make cringe ass ocs out of them. This was 2014 (and a bit in 2015). I was 12 at the time, ok?!
-I mean some of the traced drawings are in my scraps on dA. Done all on a 2DS too before it broke. Gotta love the crispyness-

I used to trace a lot and I mean a lot when I was around 12-14, it actually made me learn how the things need to be positioned when I was drawing any animals or pokemon or anything like that, I no longer trace but I learned so much back then (I never posted any of it or claimed that it was mine I just used it for the learning purposes) :)

i don't know how people can use *bases* for adopts. you can't get much variety with it, just fucking draw it yourself. so much more original
Actually, using bases saves alot of time and they are just more convenient to use than drawing something, for example, a dog in the same position like 50 times. Besides, people arent buying the art when they buy adoptables, they're buying the design. and as much as i dont want this to be true, art quality does matter in adoptables. you might have amazing designs, but your art skill can be shit.
and i literally dont get what you mean by "more original". Your designs wont change if you draw something yourself. the main purpose of adoptables is to sell their design, not the art.
As long as people have permission to use the bases and they credit where the bases came from, I don’t see a problem.
NegativeAnswer most of the time, base adopts i've seen have no diversity. that's what i'm referring to. and there's this thing called copy and paste, which you can do after drawing the initial pose. as for the poor art skills, you can't improve if you aren't going to make an attempt at drawing the entire picture.
gay kinq base adoptions are good for getting the design on a figure. What the buyers do after getting the design is up to them as far as the proportions go
Idk why people use bases at all. I mean sure it’s easy but there’s always something ‘off’ about them. In my opinion it looks ten times better if you just draw everything yourself so at least the style matches lol.

I was once sold a stolen adoptable for around 30 points. That's not a lot but I was still pissed that someone would do that. Plus I really loved the character but I couldn't actually have them because the original artist had already sold them to someone else. So yeah, waste of points right there, never got refunded by DA. I am more mad that people actually steal and sell other peoples art though, I men, how low can you get.

Why is it that a large majority of these art thief's, scammers, and tracers all use Warriors for their favorite book series?
Seriously, I like the series, but I wouldn't say they are my favorite.
Side note: This is just a question that has been in my head, and I know that this isn't important, I just really want to know why.
I know it's old video and stuff, but I want to point one thing out - I met one really crazy scammer about a year or two ago going through profiles of watchers and friends, faved every freaking picture and then start harrassing you with paying for faves (this person almost destroyed my profile) - the more faves, the higher amount of points :( it was pretty scary

just so you know, it says #3 ( on the first one you point out ) is still open, so they likely re-uploaded it to the sheet to get it noticed again because it didn't sell the first time. i mean if its stolen yeah, but like, alot of people do that so dont point that out like its a bad thing when it never sold the first time it was posted xD
also check the dates of those comments because you're reading it as if the person was told it was stolen THEN thanked them for the adopt. the " thank you! " comment was from June and the others were from July/August lol
I never got the whole concept of adopts. If you need help coming up with an OC just use other ones for inspiration! It's way more fun trying and tweaking your own design than buying one you kinda like.
at 4:25ish you give the buy flak look at the dates the one responding to the adopt being stolen took place a month after the thank you one. Just pointing that out to kind of protect the individuals image.
By the way, the bottom comments on 4:26 are the oldest comments. Idk why but sometimes Deviantart moves them down to the very bottom, making them look newer.

I admit I scammed people on DA when I was like 11 years old, but now that I'm 18 (and going to a professional animation/art college) I have long apologized for my evil ways as a child. All my art is original and I'm glad I stopped. Being an art THIEF will NOT improve you, vigorous practice everyday with different medias WILL
Why not just draw your own version of it. It would be so much easier. When I first started out I just traced the outline to help me with the pose and body positions so I could get used to it. And then I would add my own details.
