00:00 What do you think of this building just walking in for the first time?
00:03 BRANDIN PODZIEMSKI: Pretty cool. Technology is off the chain. All the player amenities are super nice, locker room, stuff like that. Got to take a trip up the wall. It's pretty nice. But I think they did a good job. They've seen kind of what's new in the world, and kind of tried to put it all into one.
00:18 You walk all the way up? Is that like getting a workout in, or - ?
00:22 Yeah, I tried to run as much as I could, and I probably got like three quarters of the way. It tired me out, but yeah, it's nice. It's a crazy view from up there, if you get to go up there. Most arenas don't have like hot tub, cold tub for players. I know ours does, Philly's does, Utah's and now here. So I think that's pretty cool that they have that for the visiting players.
00:53 Have you seen any videos of the fans at the Wall and do you think that will be a factor for you guys?
00:56 I mean, just the fact that the visiting team gets to choose which side we start on, I think every team is gonna start this way. So I think it's just more for an atmosphere purpose, encourage them to stand the whole time. So I think it's more so for the atmosphere than more so like distracting for free throws, stuff like that.
01:13 How do you practice free throws middle of the season, because obviously you guys team-wide, your guys’ numbers are a little down right now, free throw percentage-wise? Like, how do you think that that needs to improve? And what do you personally do, as far as that goes?
01:24 I mean, obviously it needs to improve just from a numbers perspective, but I also don't think - a lot of us don't really get to the line like that and so for our personal percentages, I'm 8-for-12 this year, I've only shot 12 free throws in 12 games. And so even Steph, he doesn't shoot a lot, but he shoots a high percentage. So I think it's about, especially in the middle of the season, when you're doing your individual work, fit them in where you fit them in and when you're fatigued, I think that's the most common place you get them in the game.
01:52 I don't think we've talked to you since you got the mask off. How has that been? How much of a relief has it been to not have to wear the mask?
01:59 Shooting 40 percent from three and 100 from the line, so I'll take it. But yeah, it's been good. Felt like I played well with it off, but I'm just happy I don't gotta wear it.
02:09 How does your game feel just overall right now?
02:12 Feels good. I mean, the last two games I've been a minus in the plus-minus category, which is unlike myself. But I think last game compared to the previous two, just felt like myself out there playing with energy. The numbers, I think, will always shake out to whatever they're gonna be. And I think I'll get to where I want to be. Obviously, we're only 12 games in, in the season, so I'm not really concerned about that, but it's just bringing effort and energy, is what I hang my hat on.
02:37 Steve mentioned the two games prior that you were talking about, an indecisiveness that he hadn't seen from you in a while and then an aggressiveness in the last game. I mean, what's that balance?
02:46 Yeah, I think those two games, OKC and Dallas, I think kind of were carryovers of the fatigue I was feeling from the road trip and I had to sit out. So I think there was a little carryover from that, but I think we just, we talked, me and Steve (Kerr), me and Mike (Dunleavy), we talked and just coming out and being myself is the best version of me and not trying to play for everybody else, but understand what I bring to the table and how positive that impacts our team.
03:13 I mean, did you kind of figure out what happened on the road trip, like what - ?
03:18 No, we didn't, we didn't figure it out. We're still actually trying to figure it out right now. But I mean, I played well when we just played Friday, and I felt like my energy was good. So as long as that continues, that's all I really care about.
03:34 Hey, Steph's obviously Steph, but how has he been as a leader compared to last year, just amid all the different moving pieces with the roster?
03:41 Yeah. I mean, Steph's always gonna be Steph. He's probably the number one star in the league that everybody wants to play for. He brings guys with him. He doesn't see himself as superior to everybody else, even though he has every basketball accolade you can imagine. So he does a good job of, obviously, inspiring the guys who've been here, but the new guys, Anthony, Buddy, Kyle, Lindy, all four of those guys, he's brought up and just told them to be themselves and you've seen it in their play. And so he never wants to take anything away from anybody else and what they bring to the table. So I think that's the best part about him, that he brings everybody with him and doesn't try to show superiority over anybody.
04:20 What did you guys learn in the games you had to play without him?
04:23 That we can win, that we're good enough, we're deep enough. And so, obviously, we want to have Steph out there, but if there's a time where maybe he rests on the back-to-back or he sits out because he has an injury of some sorts, we have that confidence that we can beat anybody. And so I think last year we didn't win a game without him and now this year we're 3-0 without him already. So I think it just gives us the confidence and Steve knows that we have 12 to 14 guys on a given night that can play. So right now De'Anthony's out, how do we fix that? We've won without him now, too. And so just whoever's out, when I was out in Boston, everybody stepped up and we won. So I think it's just pretty good. Our numbers are holding true and it's gonna work.
05:05 These guys are one of your only two losses. What are the adjustments against Ty Lue's defense?
05:09 Yeah, I think this loss and the Cleveland loss, we turned the ball over 20-plus times. And I think that's the common denominator. When we don't turn the ball over, we win a lot of games because of our offense, it hurts our defense and then vice-versa. When you're taking the ball out of the net, it's hard to get into - play against half court defense every time. And so, yeah, I think it just plays off one another. If we don't turn the ball over, we know we're gonna get stops because we're a really good defensive team. And that allows us to play in transition where we flourish.
05:36 Wiggs, you were one of the primary defenders on Harden and you guys kept him in check to 4-for-15. How do you feel like you guys did on him defensively?
05:49 ANDREW WIGGINS: I feel like we did all right. I mean, he wasn't scoring a bunch, but he was making plays. He was getting his teammates involved, kind of just controlling their their offensive flow. But I feel like we did an okay job.
06:05 You've played James Harden teams a lot throughout your career. What are some of the challenges that go into defending that kind of system where he has the ball a lot and they run a ton of pick-and-rolls?
06:14 I mean, it's tough. He's a very smart player and has a lot of good assets. He's a great shooter, playmaker, can pass his ass off. And he can - someone that can take over a game a lot of different ways. So every time going up against them, it's tough. You gotta make it hard on them and you gotta bring your A-game.
06:41 And you guys struggled tonight at the free throw line. Obviously, it's been kind of a season-long thing as a team. What are your thoughts on that? And what has helped you maybe getting a rhythm in the past from the free throw line?
06:50 I mean, repetition. That's the best thing for - just getting in the gym and getting the shots up feeling good about yourself, so you feel good in the game.
07:02 What kind of challenges do the Clippers - have they presented you guys, defensively, with the way they've been guarding?
07:08 They're aggressive defenders. They try to take you out of your first and your second option. They're just, they're physical. Hey Andrew, what stands out to you the most about this arena that shocked you or surprised you?
07:28 I mean, it's an amazing arena. It's an amazing arena from all the - the locker room is amazing, especially for a visitor's locker room and, but I think the best thing, the people are very nice. People are very nice. The way they talk, the way they greet you, before or after the game, the people were very nice, very nice people.
07:55 This was one of your best offensive matches of the year so far. Where would you say your game is, on that end of the floor right now?
08:02 It's coming along. It's not where I want it to be, but keep working towards it. Keep getting the repetition, keep getting the reps up and I know it'll come.
