I have a 2TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus mounted on it, and I keep it cool with a Corsair Hydro X Series XM2 M.2 SSD water block. Mike, I have a question, I've got Asrock Z87 Extreme4, 3 pcie slots, 1st is used for GPU pcie x16, if I put adapter to 2nd slot GPU slot will be reduced to x8? If yes what happen if I would put adapter to 3rd slot?
    I guess in SLI with 3 graphic card there is x8 x8 x4, with two x8 x8 but if I put to third slot adapter there will be x12 for GPU and x4 for M.2? Or it even would not affect first slot GPU speed?

    Very good video, congratulations !!!
    Is it posible to use, utilize or take advantage of all the 16 trails of a PCIe X 16 port ?
    I ask because most adapter like the one of your video are only X 4 so that use only 4 of the 16 trails which are available in a PCIe X 16. I think that that is a considerable waste of resources which brings not desiderable consecuences !!!
    If your mobo has PCIe 3 or 4, well ... maybe that´s not an important isue.
    But if you have an old model which only has PCIe 1 or at most PCIe 2 then there is a big difference in using only 4 trails and to be able to use 16 trails !!!
    Can you give me any hint on that ?
    Thank you in advance for your answer !!!
    Blessings !!!

With it being Gen 4 might be worth leaving it in your mobo and use it as a boot drive should it need it. At this price Id rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. I don't use any RAID features but Ive tried two of these style cards and they are not working properly. The SSD drive is not visible anywhere. Not via Disk Mgmt, Device Mgr, or Windows Explorer. However, BIOS is seeing the SSD card details which is in the card. I am thinking that the BIOS needs to be changed to AHCI. I think the RAID settings are not letting the card pass the info properly. I just purchased this adapter for my 2TB Firecuda 530 and the adapter itself has excellent built, but the heat sink is beyond very poorly design in both aspects, aesthetically and how it performs I very much dislike the rubber bands and clips, they are hideous.
    Running CrystalDiskMark test in very well ventilated case my Firecuda without the heat sink have reached 59CC, with the heat sink 57C-58C, very poor. I have tried another adapter with slightly larger and better mounted heat sink and MAX temp was 46C which is a big difference, but I didn't like that there was no bracket, it wasn't very sturdy so I returned both.
    If they made a slightly larger heat sink with better mounting e.g. maybe 4 small screws at the back and also If they made the bright red light to go on only when drive is in operation, this adapter would be top notch.

      yes that will definitely be a problem. Maybe an external USB enclosure might be a better choice if space is limited

    I have and old mobo (scocket1366) and am i trying to install windows 10 in expansion card with NVME M2 2TB.
    I received message that "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure That the disk controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu"
    Can i bypass this using WinNTsetup 5.2 ?

      some boards won't support add in cards as a bootable drive, maybe look at updating the motherboard bios if possible

      no the exact opposite, you are able to produce great stuff, but sadly the politics gets in the way, China's economic boom era was funded and fueled by the US and has ever since been a source of anger and a reason to be suspicious of China and their capabilities, despite the fact "we" created the so called bogey man

    Will doing this throttle a high end gpu if it takes up pcie lanes?

    • @mikesunboxing
      @mikesunboxing  2 года назад

      it will depend on the board you are using, a lot of boards share lanes in different ways and also your CPU will also come into play depending on what amount and type of lanes it has available

    • @madb132
      @madb132 Год назад

      Depends on the CPU. Most Desktops CPU's have 16 pcie lanes, Higher end CPU's have 28 to 40 pcie lanes (Intel X99,X299), Amd threadripper have a lot more. As mentioned, The PCH will mess with the allocation On some motherboards.
