Ne visiem diriģentiem bija drosme dziedāt līdzi "Gaismas pili", kur nu vēl to diriģēt. Iespējams, ka Haraldam Mednim nebija ko zaudēt. Ar šo dziesmu 1985. gadā tauta sāka uzdrošināties mosties no padomju jūga.
Es lepojos,ka man bijis gods dzīvot blakus Haraldam Mednim .Pa vasarām Inčupē.Mans tēvs - Jānis Edmunds Mālmanis ļoti ilgus gadus dziedāja vīru korī TĒVZEME.Cik skaista ir šī vieta Inčupē ❤️❤️❤️!
Dzejas autors auseklis (mikelis) gan nepaspeja aiziet uz nevieniem dziesmu svetkiem but vitola kungs (komponists) bija virsdirigents sis dziesmas pirmatskanojuma 1910 gada dziesmu svetkos
Great song. Very moving. Here is my translation of the lyrics. Courland, land of gods, Nurturer of the free! Where are those grey haired gods, The sons of the free nation, Sons of the free nation? Long ago, they dwelt, At the top of the hill of light, All around was spruce forest, In the middle the lighted castle of the folk. Bloody days came To the valleys of our land; Bound the folk to slavery, The heros fell, to death. Quickly sunk, and quickly lost Was the lofty castle of the hill of light. There sleep the gods of our fathers, The treasure of the nation’s spirit! To the ancient oak tree, We give our last offering; For it hides the sacred castle name, Scarred deep into its heart, Scarred into its heart. If someone can find that name, The old castle will rise again. The fame of the nation will spread far and wide, And the beams of light will glisten. The sons of the nation found the long forgotten holy name. Light is called, the light dawns, Up rises the castle of light!

What do they sing after Gaismas Pils, and is there any significance in the way the conductors come forwards one by one to lead. It looks like some amazing gesture of collective solidarity, but I could be reading too much into this.
Might seem weird that I’m answering to this comment after 9yrs, but anyways. “Pūt, vējiņi!”, as I know, is the traditional song that marks the end of the song festival. It is, as you said, collective solidarity, the conductors still do this..
Agnese Liety Paldies! I knew I'd heard it on other videos, thank you for identifying it. I shall have to study the words now, but I don't doubt there are many layers of meaning here.
The three main factors that can unite people in a common, large scale, enthusiasm, be it legitimate or not, are religion, nationalism and...football. Like it or not, I personally put them on the same level... And you can actually be pride of something you have done, not something that was given to you by birth... Have a good day brother!

Amazing and historic performance! Beautiful and courageous! Brilliant choir! Brave Haralds Mednis! Happy 115 th Birthday Anniversary!

Courland, land of gods,

Where are those grey haired gods,
The sons of the free nation,
Sons of the free nation?

In the middle the lighted castle of the folk.

To the valleys of our land;

The heros fell, to death.
Quickly sunk, and quickly lost
Was the lofty castle of the hill of light.
There sleep the gods of our fathers,
The treasure of the nation’s spirit!

Legendary singing.
Gaismas pils... Ģeniāls darbs!
Gaismas pils!

Nopietni, tas kaut kad ir bijis? Tā tiešām notika?
Notika.
ah tik labi klausities so dziesmu
Kāds bija otra dziesma?
marconatrix Second song is "Pūt Vējiņi", a traditional, very significant Latvian folk song.

Paldies. Es meklēju Latviešos vārdus, lūdzu :-)
@@marconatrix lv.wikipedia.org/wiki/P%C5%ABt,_v%C4%93ji%C5%86i_(dziesma) There you have both - in Livonian and Latvian.
Basi tad bija mana stihija...
