At 76 years old when one of my 338s starts to render me a little recoil sensitive I run 4 or 5 rounds through my 458 WM for perspective. Heavy recoil and hangovers have something in common; I feel so bad when I wake up EVERY morning that a bad hangover is not that much different. LOL

Excellent shooting. Have owned various .338 Winchester Magnum caliber rifles in my time, all were accurate but since I had a .375 H&H (several) always used them instead. Today the 9.3x62 takes the place of a .338 and if I want more rifle the .375. However for a one rifle North American rifle for Elk as an example, all bear species, all the moose including the giant Alaskan variety, the .338 Winchester Magnum is an outstanding pick, plus with lighter bullets mule deer and even whitetail. For the heavy exotic game like Asian Buffalo and Nilgai Antelope both TOUGH animals the .338 Winchester Magnum is an outstanding selection.

WTW before I watch this, I had a friend who owned one of these 338 WM. I never got a chance to shoot it but he said it would simply trash your shoulder in a short time of shooting.
He also said 300 W.M. wasn't no were near as tough on you.
    Ok, after watching .................
Daaaaannng brother now that's what I'm talking about! Nice shooting!🎯🎯🎯👍👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥💯💯
Get that chronograph average and load it. Get the dope on that thing. Sure you know this but don't forget about the changes in the new area's from your zero area. Of course I'm sure you do a zero check before hunting in the area. Brother that sure was some nice shooting. Ending on that was the best decision. All that from this set up just proves putting money in glass and practice can compete with mega dollar equipment.

I used to use the same gadgets that you're using, like the lead sled and adjustable tripod's and I couldn't get anything to lineup. I was constantly adjusting elevation and windage and the best thing I found was a $35 sand bag for my buttstock to rest on and the heel of my rifle and I can group at least 2 inch MOA @100 yards. BTW, I'm shooting a model 70 super grade with the exact same ammo you're using, 338 WinMag by Norma,230 grain.

I just watched three videos of that weapon. The scope seemed to make a difference, like it did not hold true between shots. Or it could be the shooter was having an off day. Or the rifle being brand new. Or the ammo. Whatever was causing it to shoot such big groups it appears there is no problem now. Excellent rifle for the price in my opinion, since you asked.

After Texas you're ready for a big brown bear hunt in Alaska now! It's amazing at the insane groupings a man can get with a $234 dollar long gun these days. Thompson Centers don't get mentioned as much as they deserve but have been building superb rifles for many years.👍🇺🇲

I have a Weatherby 338 with a muzzle brake, it doesn’t kick that bad. I love the gun. I dropped a 400 pound black bear at 80 yards like a sac of potatoes, it never knew what hit it.

That rifle made a nice single whole at 100 yards. What distance do you usually harvest an animal where it is that you hunt? I have to zero my rifles at 200 or 225 yards to have a good point blank sight in here in southern Colorado.

You should try the push pull.
    Hold. Push on the front
Of the stock. Then pull the but stock . I your shoulder.
    Reduce feel recoil.
    What kind of scope.n
    Price.
    Happy shooting

  • @brsmith2801

Love the video. Hey, you should try a muzzle break for sighting in and then switch it back when you go hunting. I use breaks on all my heavy recoil stuff when developing loads. I had shoulder surgery and can't do long range sessions with heavy stuff so I went the muzzle break route and never looked back. I think you would appreciate it. Keep up the good work.
