While I think it's nice she grew up in a loving family, she also grew up with a pastor for a father. A pastor in a religion that extolls women accepting not even the bare minimum and sticking through abuse because "the sanctity of marriage" and that even though the Bible says adultery is enough for you to leave, you should be a "good Christian woman" and stay and forgive and love him onto being a better person. The religion he preaches every Sunday is inherently misogynistic and tilted towards her being the woman she became, and he wants to act shocked that she wound up in a marriage like that.

You didn’t mention it, but for Eva parents to be an hour and a half away but she’s driving back and forth 2, 3 times in one day was truly unrealistic and really shows how sloppy Tyler Perry is when it comes to writing things that makes sense.
1. this is soooo refreshing because there are so many of us that defend Tyler Perry’s films but i honestly haven’t liked them since i was little. i remember watching the plays and wondering “didn’t we just watch this?” & it’s a whole different play but that’s because of what you acknowledged- they follow the same plots. someone’s cheating, someone’s being abused, the black women are heavily christian and use it to justify toxicity, and the woman scorned always has to be saved by another man in order to get thru it all.. but in reality it looks more like when a woman leaves an abusive relationship she’s single for years upon years bc the trauma makes it hard to trust again so easily. while that’s in our community that’s not all i want to see. when we’re shown in happy marriages in films, it’s with someone of a different race. we can be happy, loving, there are healthy black families and we NEED to see that. 2. this movie pissed me off so bad bc after the years of abuse, him breaking in and fighting mfs DURING the plot, she was in this delusional “he’s not gonna do anything” energy like what? we literally have to be situationally aware to exist so that just didn’t even seem realistic to me. 3. this movie pissed me offffffffff her daddy should’ve pulled the trigger from the truck seat & pulled off bc ain’t no way he was winning a 5 v 1 with a shotgun that pumps out 2 shells before you have to reload. 4. him killing his daddy could’ve been a whole cut scene fr but nooo 5. the whole funeral scene was a hot. ass. mess and i’m so ashamed that that was even put out, ashamed of the actors for agreeing to do it, like that’s just awful. my jaw was in hell that whole scene. ok thank you for posting this 😊 ok thanks for posting 😊

My gf and I saw this movie weeks ago (we dabble in terrible movies, and Tyler Perry always hits that mark). I still forgot about everything in it besides the opening scene, the white grocery store worker who stands by while a man harasses a lil old lady, and Benji’s biceps, which I think are comparable to the circumference of the Moon.
This was the typical Tyler Perry movie. Dallas is a prime example of allowing your family or surroundings to hold you back. Megan Good, Cory Hardrict & Richard Lawson are all divorced. Tyler Perry writes movies like their plays, the dialogue, the cinematography, the direction of the acting, all of it is better fits stage plays. When stage plays are adapted to screen, they often have a screenwriter do it & the play write assists to make sure the intended themes are hit so the essence of the story is still there (best case scenario). Tyler DESPERATELY needs a screenwriter to help him with his vision. I won't even blame the editor because Tyler doesn't like multiple takes and that doesn't leave the editor much to work with.

A billionaire calling anyone HiGh BrOw...I have to laugh 😂 Second, it's weird that he sees himself as this champion of poor and working class folk when literally villainizes them in nearly every one of his films. They are there to be one dimensional strereotypes for comic relief or their evil abusive ppl while the protagonists are affluent or at the very least comfortably middle class. If the main character is poor, the movie basically trauma porn till she's saved by a rich or at least financially better off lightskin man wash, rinse, repeat I think that's why he's starting to lose favor among even his most loyal supporters. Poor folks aren't stupid like he thinks they are and no one appreciates being talked down to. The one credit I'll give this film is that at least it's encouraging women to divorce abusive men, hate the messaging that poor men are inherently absuive but it's Tyler Perry 🤷🏿♀️. It's good that the black church in this film is endorsing divorce because in the real world (and Perry's earlier works) the church has done so much damage telling women and girls it's better be abused than divorced.
This movie turned out to be an unintentional comedy to me. First of all teleportation devices are real in the Tyler Perry universe! The way they could quickly get from the city to the small town defies physics. Like when did the animals get killed if ex-hubby could be to the house in the morning, fight, get knocked out, and be at her job before Paul Bunyun got back to his farm? And the daddy went from being at her house to set up security stuff, drive back home, hear about the grocery store stuff and get to the trailer all before 2:30am? Teleportation devices or high speed rail...I'm not sure

While I think it's nice she grew up in a loving family, she also grew up with a pastor for a father. A pastor in a religion that extolls women accepting not even the bare minimum and sticking through abuse because "the sanctity of marriage" and that even though the Bible says adultery is enough for you to leave, you should be a "good Christian woman" and stay and forgive and love him onto being a better person. The religion he preaches every Sunday is inherently misogynistic and tilted towards her being the woman she became, and he wants to act shocked that she wound up in a marriage like that.
I went on a rant to my grandma when I heard that scene 😤 like struggle love isn't heavily projected on women "for better or worse, in sickness or in health"

1. this is soooo refreshing because there are so many of us that defend Tyler Perry’s films but i honestly haven’t liked them since i was little. i remember watching the plays and wondering “didn’t we just watch this?” & it’s a whole different play but that’s because of what you acknowledged- they follow the same plots. someone’s cheating, someone’s being abused, the black women are heavily christian and use it to justify toxicity, and the woman scorned always has to be saved by another man in order to get thru it all.. but in reality it looks more like when a woman leaves an abusive relationship she’s single for years upon years bc the trauma makes it hard to trust again so easily. while that’s in our community that’s not all i want to see. when we’re shown in happy marriages in films, it’s with someone of a different race. we can be happy, loving, there are healthy black families and we NEED to see that.
2. this movie pissed me off so bad bc after the years of abuse, him breaking in and fighting mfs DURING the plot, she was in this delusional “he’s not gonna do anything” energy like what? we literally have to be situationally aware to exist so that just didn’t even seem realistic to me.
3. this movie pissed me offffffffff her daddy should’ve pulled the trigger from the truck seat & pulled off bc ain’t no way he was winning a 5 v 1 with a shotgun that pumps out 2 shells before you have to reload.
4. him killing his daddy could’ve been a whole cut scene fr but nooo
5. the whole funeral scene was a hot. ass. mess and i’m so ashamed that that was even put out, ashamed of the actors for agreeing to do it, like that’s just awful. my jaw was in hell that whole scene.

My gf and I saw this movie weeks ago (we dabble in terrible movies, and Tyler Perry always hits that mark). I still forgot about everything in it besides the opening scene, the white grocery store worker who stands by while a man harasses a lil old lady, and Benji’s biceps, which I think are comparable to the circumference of the Moon.
This was the typical Tyler Perry movie. Dallas is a prime example of allowing your family or surroundings to hold you back. Megan Good, Cory Hardrict & Richard Lawson are all divorced. Tyler Perry writes movies like their plays, the dialogue, the cinematography, the direction of the acting, all of it is better fits stage plays. When stage plays are adapted to screen, they often have a screenwriter do it & the play write assists to make sure the intended themes are hit so the essence of the story is still there (best case scenario). Tyler DESPERATELY needs a screenwriter to help him with his vision. I won't even blame the editor because Tyler doesn't like multiple takes and that doesn't leave the editor much to work with.

Second, it's weird that he sees himself as this champion of poor and working class folk when literally villainizes them in nearly every one of his films. They are there to be one dimensional strereotypes for comic relief or their evil abusive ppl while the protagonists are affluent or at the very least comfortably middle class. If the main character is poor, the movie basically trauma porn till she's saved by a rich or at least financially better off lightskin man wash, rinse, repeat
I think that's why he's starting to lose favor among even his most loyal supporters. Poor folks aren't stupid like he thinks they are and no one appreciates being talked down to.
The one credit I'll give this film is that at least it's encouraging women to divorce abusive men, hate the messaging that poor men are inherently absuive but it's Tyler Perry 🤷🏿♀️. It's good that the black church in this film is endorsing divorce because in the real world (and Perry's earlier works) the church has done so much damage telling women and girls it's better be abused than divorced.
Whoever helped with The Family that Preys needs to come back. They had a decent budget

This movie turned out to be an unintentional comedy to me. First of all teleportation devices are real in the Tyler Perry universe! The way they could quickly get from the city to the small town defies physics. Like when did the animals get killed if ex-hubby could be to the house in the morning, fight, get knocked out, and be at her job before Paul Bunyun got back to his farm? And the daddy went from being at her house to set up security stuff, drive back home, hear about the grocery store stuff and get to the trailer all before 2:30am? Teleportation devices or high speed rail...I'm not sure
