He was always one of my favorites in Poffo's ICW in the early 80's. Saw him in several matches and got his autograph. Actually, a really nice guy!

Cowboy Bob Orton was one of the best workers around. Had some great matches with Santana, Backlund, Snuka, and Hogan. His role as Pipers Ace was huge in the old WWF. Glad he is doing well.

I noticed how he said "Slater was tough". All the wrestlers say it; I read he beat on Raider John Matuszak in a bar one night , and the Tooz was a beast. Slater must have been a real bad ass.

As great as Randy is, I don't think he is as good as Bob jr was. I wasn't utilized as well as he should've been in WWF. Both he and Randy are naturally gifted pro wrestlers

Bob Orton Jr from most wrestlers is a tough guy. He got into many bar fights and handled his business.

Master technician...his best work was in the AWA; WWE just used him as a buffoon..
His pile-driver finisher was LIGHT'S OUT.. you could count to 20, his opponent ain't getting up.

I was born in 89 and grew up in Salem Oregon that was a bad time in Oregon for wreslting when I was growing up so I never got to see anything live or knew the inter workings from having no shows here even house shows. It was huge seeing roddy piper on tv calling him out from portland or hillsboro oregon! My back to this day is fucked from the stiener recliner being applied too many times growing up. Thank you for the history lessons H Boss

Your Pacific Northwest territory was one of the greatest ever, lot a guys got their start there, passed thru there, and became stars there. Roddy Piper, Gino Hernandez, Jesse Ventura, Rick Martel, Jimmy Snuka just to name a few.

I know! I hear about its glory days on local nostalgia facebook groups that arent even geared towards wrestling. It really seems wwf killed it. The closest event I remember growing up was wresltmania 19 or 20 when it was in seattle that is it, besides portland wreslting came back for a small stint in the 2000s. Raw was here last october and smackdown will be here in october also, they been coming around here now more recently.

in the only match I saw in person I saw these 2 wrestle in Rochester NY around 1985, I believe the went on just before Andre and Steele were scheduled to wrestled Sheik and Volkoff. Andre was a no show so Bruno and Steele wrestled them... Bruno was as hairy as Steele and it was all grey hair on the body. The best match of the night was clearly Orton and Orndorff because the final match was a clown act. Not complaining about the clown act, as a 10 year old it was fun to watch.

When they began talking about tough crowds, I expected to hear one word: "Houma." Sure enough, Ace echoed what Jim Cornette and pretty much every one says about bayou crowds. Be interesting to see a card there.

Bob Ortan was fired from the WWF in 2006 because he has Hep-C and bled in the match with Randy and Unnertaker. He had a test and it said he was HepC positive but Johnny Ace didn't tell anyone and Bob Ortan said he 'forgot'....after the match the Doctor was friends with the Unnertaker and told him the fact that Bob had Hep C....Under Taker was furious and Bob was fired N Randy was buried for the time being. Pretty reckless stuff from Orton.
