Nice video Phil. The sounds during recovery when the camera is on the upper hull are greats. But the winch can not be used when the bergepanther is running. In reality, you need to disconnect the drive shaft between engine and transmission. It is the rpm of the engine who can runnning the winch by intermediate of a sort of little gearbox especially for the winch. For a good crew, the time to prepare the winch was 45 minutes, for a recovery. More faster if the crew made a recovery with cables and C hooks, without use of winch. I like your video and I hope an another will be do during next weeks (maybe with colors???).
Excellent video but honestly I doubt that the Bergepanther, realistically alone, could recover a turretless Tiger on such a steep hill. It had a winch with a capacity of 40 tons together with a heavy support spade fixed to the back. For me I would add another Bergepanther or a Sd.Kfz. 9 with a towing capacity of 28 tonnes. Nevertheless you did a great job 👍👍
Capacity is 40 tons, it is true, but this capacity has been doubled by the use of pulley. A bergepanther could winched all heavy panzers except the Maus...
You did a very good convincing job there because I had to look twice to see it wasn't real 😉👍 I was already surprised because to my knowledge there's (almost) no picture/movie of such a thing happening (which doesn't say it didn't happen because that's what they were actually made for). Just add some Aliens, Nessy and the Yeti and we will have the definite proof of their existance, during WW2😉😁
Awesome video, well done... Here's a fun fact, German Crews became very proficient at such recovery, even in the dark of night, because unlike the M4 Sherman that was replaced on the very spot it was killed within 36 hours there was NO REPLACEMENT for the Tiger's. Hell there was hardly spare parts. I admire the ingenuity of the German People to literally make SOMETHING out of NOTHING... I am glad Hitler LOST, don't get me wrong here, I am just saying I admire German ingenuity... Cheers...
Brilliant piece of scale reproduction 👍
That was an early spring day and all went well with the video!
