Pretty wild that I played L4D2 in Blockland before I actually played L4D2. I remember seeing Minecraft servers without having any idea what Minecraft actually was. GSF San Andreas was genuinely a mind-blowing map for me back in the day. I even made a random RUclips channel with a tutorial for getting into Blue Hell on that map which I then promptly abandoned. So many random gaming core memories are rooted in Blockland for me, I'll forever miss the prime days of Blockland.
Blockland in its prime was truly incredible. Maybe one day the player base will be larger but yeah I think the days of hundreds of full servers are behind us. So many different games and maps remade in Blockland was and still is wild to see lol
Blockland changed my view on games to be honest. The fact that you can play these small little mini games in this game really inspired me a lot about sandbox games and even.. as a creator! If it weren't for me to bug my dad to buy me this game back in 2008-2009, I don't think I would've been able to actually think and put one and one together. So glad I'm not alone on this really, I play Gmod and Minecraft modding them turning them into whatever I make.. It's not as fun as Blockland imo. Blockland made it feel raw, barebones, prototype like.. That's what made it so unique. It was a draft for what could be bigger.
Got into Blockland around 2013, think I was like 7 or 8. Immediately banned off the forums and had a whole thread created for me, lol. I love this game so much man, it's great that people still care about it. I'm in college now and 18, and it's just so crazy to see how quick time passed. I literally remember like it was yesterday that I was playing in my uncle's house and he yelled at me for swearing in chat. Badspot please come back we freaking love you despite all of the weird comics you do nowadays
I had no clue about the comics lol, hey whatever makes him happy. Yeah getting banned off the forums hurt as a kid but I totally understand why they wanted my annoying ass gone. Such a cool game with a lot of history and I hope I preserved it at least a little bit with this vid. Thanks for the comment!
I hosted a total drama island server back in the day, I had a full server of people helping build the island without the help of mods. If you remember, not having mods was a reason for some people not to give your server the time of day so it was surprising to have a full server. Shout out to anyone who might remember that game.
@@michael9r9r Those were the greatest times, it hurts to see the game in its current state. I'm hoping Blockland rebuilt will bring new players and old players back like myself.
God I loved this game so much.. used to run a server literally just called “mini nuke & ion cannon enabled” and would frequently get 20+ players just fuckin around blowing shit up
i was way too young to experience this game on its peak but i still have some kind of nostalgia for it. it was the first steam game i purchased back in 2014 and i remember playing it with my brother and messing around with whatever game had to offer. really nice to remember.
god, this game was so much fun. lots of great memories, especially from the soundtrack and kinda eeire maps. lots of memories of city rp or creep or dm.
The creativity from the community (Blockland) was astonishing. I just wish we weren’t so mean and toxic to each others. Yet all the fun and support I got there are truly appreciated
I personally think the games Biggest mistake was just killing the dedicated maps without finding a work around for their issues with the shaders engine
Blockland is so simplistic but still has its charm. i really really love brick by brick building that takes a more lego form than minecraft. i like minecraft but you don’t get tiles or different sized bricks that aren’t meters large. it’s a shame that we haven’t got many games that allow you to build with tiles and bricks and plates. good video man
The only exceptions are stairs and fences and the like, but they still occupy a meter space as far as building is concerned. I definitely wish more games had blocky building with greater detail. Thanks for the feedback and comment!
This game completely defined my childhood. Some of my best memories were playing zombies on a GTA San Andreas map (anyone remember Blue Hell?), prison escapes, City RPGs, deathruns, capture the flag, grapple knife TDMs, trench wars, and those infinite mining gamemodes. The block event system was what first got me into programming too. I remember if any CityRPG had a teleport block event/action I would abuse the hell out of it. I'd make a sort of combination lock in my house to activate it, something like: click on the lamp, then the bottom right leg of the sofa, then the fridge, and it would teleport you into my basement. Avoided so many cops breaking into my house like that. It really was *SUCH* a powerful system. I first played the game when I was 7 or 8, back in 2007/8. I convinced my mom to buy it for me after seeing a banner ad for it on an old flash game site. I know I annoyed the HELL out of people. I know I made some friends on there, but I've honestly completely forgotten most of their names. My name was pilot_killer247 (what a great name...). Blockland was my window to the 2000s internet. I got introduced to the internet culture from that time by this game, it was great. It was the first and only multiplayer game I played for years. I also played every single game that had a version on Blockland, instead of playing the actual game itself. GTA, L4D, TF2, Portal, etc... played Blockland versions of those games wayyy before I ever played the real ones. Loved the video btw, I just kind of let the thoughts and memories flow out as they came back to me, leading to that long rant lol
Thanks for sharing! Letting memories flow back is great so I'm cool with the long ass rant lol. Early 2000-2010s internet was a fascinating place and yeah BL was my first real experience with that aside from Newgrounds and other flash sites (foreshadowing for another vid?) I'm very glad this video is allowing a bunch of people to remember their Blockland experiences from back in the day, I hope the game gets a revival in some capacity. It deserves it
holy shit, man you just sent me back to like 2013 when i had a shitty laptop and i used to browse for HOURS on the forums searching for the perfect add-ons to add to my renderman server lol, i never really interacted much with the community, but i really wish i did, thank you for making this video, i really hope it gets a resurrection, even if its small
Man getting so much nostalgia about Blockland. When I was a kid I'd play RP servers, mini civilization (? I think they were called that) servers, and I remember even being >>>loosely
Thanks for sharing, I'm glad this vid has helped people remember a lot of the good times they had with Blockland back in the day. I remember the boss fight Gamemode too very loosely, I probably only played it a couple times back in the day. The fate of every 10 year old on a forum is a perma ban lol
Ah man, I remember chilling in the RTB IRC with friends while we waited for slots to open in one of the Dogfight servers. Or just hopping into some random server with a few other dudes and just shooting each other with mini-nukes for a couple of hours. Good times
thanks for showing off some footage from my deatchmatch server (the neon one), im glad that even with blockland being dead as shit i can still make something on it and have it stick with someone its also very cool that you used your own music for the video, keep it up its great
Your maps aesthetics are fantastic dude, keep it up. And thanks! Blockland doesn't really have a soundtrack so I figured it was time to plug my stuff. Hope to play with you again sometime!
Ah Blockland, I too have many memories with playing it back in the day alongside Roblox and the like. Playing other sandbox games that have building included in them, I always think about how easier it'd be to build in those if I was able to use Blockland's simple, but powerful build engine! I have so many vague and cherished memories of various servers that I played on before they died, some highlights in particular being prison escape maps (Tenzui's in particular), boss battle's (The boss with the halo energy sword sticks out in my mind), zombie related servers (whether that'd be L4D like maps or wave-based progression maps where you'd kill zombies, buy more gear to kill them better), and all of the RP servers lost to time. Even if I wasn't able to get into the programming aspect at the time, I'd still say Blockland shaped me into the person I am today, what with it's stylings and such. I also remember Blockland machinma in particular for how no one else does it nowadays, and considering blocklands scripting and addons, they could get very creative in what they could make just in-game compared to similar machinma. Good times, but alas, another game that fills the same role as Blockland may not come around for a while unless someone has the time and resources to make it the best it can be. (And to wrap this whole remi-rant, at 9:59 in the video to the left, you can see a sign that says "Shoppes Soup & Sin" along with some furniture inside. I made that a few months back when I first loaded up Blockland rebuilt! If only there were people active on there..)
Oh nice! Really cool that I found something you built a whole ago. I agree with everything you've said, especially regarding machinimas. I never attempted to make any but especially back in the day compared to other games like Halo 3 on the 360, Blockland machinimas had a lot of potential.
@@michael9r9r Thanks for that! I just actually remembered two specific machinima that I don't remember the names of: One that takes place in a museum in which a guy goes into the staff rooms and things get weird, and another were a blockhead experiences everything that blockland has to offer by going to various places. Ahh the memories.
My childhood will always live n have love for this game, renderman servers , zombie apoc servers butterfly knife you name it anything I wish I can go back in time n replay those days when it was 2012…
I remember murder mystery, jailbreak, speedkarts, those servers where you throw people, grapple knife, boss battles, etc. I grew up playing both Roblox and Blockland and they will always be in a special place in my heart.
Same I miss old Blockland for the terrain we can still play on them with projects like B4v21 and Rebuilt but regular v21 is way more active and has so much more stuff and features it’s kinda hard going back just for terrain
Even if Brickadia doesn't get as robust mod support; the building features it provides alone, even in the current alpha release, easily make it better for raw building. I got pretty decent with the Blockland building system back in the day, but I have only ever done any actual large scale building in Brickadia, it's just that much easier.
You can get Blockland building to be on par with Brickadia but it would require a bunch of different addons. Brickadia having more building tools right out of the gate is pretty good for people who don’t want addons which makes building far more accessible in Brickadia
Nice video! I played BL 2008-16 and were in the thick of it all. Great times and memories. Also was a huge sucker for CityRP as that was my first server experience on Wentworth’s. Also played on Diggy’s and admined a bit on Yorktown’s and Suburb’s. I booted the game up just a week back because an old friend of mine asked about a build from fucking 2011 I had not finished. Haha. I play Brickadia now, as the building mechanics are real slick and building is what I’ve always enjoyed.
lol almost all my online friends stem from blockland and i still socialize with them to this day, awesome people i met on BL, really impacted my life. friends i meet on other platforms are just not the same, they seem very fake,
Every now-and-again I get back into Blockland, the last binge I did was when there was this farming server. Really popular and a lot of people had great hopes that it could some way bring more people back to Blockland. Then like all things, drama happened. A heated arguement happened one day when I was on between and Admin and their top donator. The top donator's main farming crop were mangos. Each crop had a set grow time. However, it turns out that someway some how, about half of his trees had a glitch to them were the grow time wasn't going as long as it was supposed to. When the Admin found out, they started accusing top donator for knowingly exploiting. He however agrued back that he didn't know that some of the mango trees weren't following the correct growth time. The reason he didn't know was because he actually had bot spawns set up and programmed to do all of the labor for him. So he never actually checked the crops himself. Once a crop was ready for harvest, a bot would go around with a wheelbarrow, collect the crops, then put it into a silo. He ONLY had interactions with his crops when the Special Merchant would show up to give an extra boost of sells on a specific crop. Well that Admin had then rallied a few others against the top donator for the exploitation. Well after a different Admin looked into the issue, it was found out the glitch was caused by something completely outside of the player's control. The original Admin refused to apologize and so right then and there the donator said he quit, he was cancelling any future donations and was leaving. And BOI he couldn't have left at a worst time for them. There was a really hyped update coming that would had seasons/seasonal weather. But a line of code or something had an issue with a code in their already existing game. Whatever the problem was, it was way outside any of their skill levels. So they had to hire someone else to do it. That person informed them that they would not only have to redo the entire code for their existing server, but for the seasons update. Which was going to cost them a lot of money. Money they no longer had access to. But they apparently agreed to it, hoping they would have a way to get money back somehow. Welp. It didn't happen. The person found out they didn't actually have the money, so he left the code partially done. But that partially done messed up the existing server, and they ended up having to shut it down. This was about 3 years ago, I'd say. I miss my cabbage farm ;~;
Intense drama around a blockland farming server isn't something I expected to read about in my lifetime lol. Thanks for sharing, damn shame it didnt stick around and help blockland's player count out.
@@michael9r9r Yeah. Him leaving the server also killed the morale for it. A lot of people did not like how that first admin acted. Nor trusted that the same thing wouldn't happen to them. So a lot of regulars started not coming back on leading up to the server shutting down.
I remember playing Zix's Randomizer DM, Prison Break, Slopes DM, Pecon7's Boss Battles, Cat123's Grapple Knife DM, various deathruns, freebuilds, and base wars. Good times.
Hah of course dude. There are so many flash and really old wildtangent games I wish I could find the names of. I'm glad I helped you out with this one at least!
This comment screams pure ecstasy. the feeling of finding something niche from your childhood / just finding something really old is all too familiar. this made me really happy
As someone whose been around the community for awhile without taking prolonged breaks, its fun to see people pop in and out of our niche little circle.
used to host a small server called "renderman town", was basically a server where you had a set time to build, and a set time to survive renderman in a city-styled build. good times
@@michael9r9r i remember getting scared by the v3 version of the addon (the most popular version), and the guy who made that addon for some reason all of his addons had this issue where you had to disable them with RTB admin or blockland glass otherwise they would still work in some capacity. so the renderman v3 addon gets "disabled" but not entirely so renderman spawns when he shouldnt even be enable and it scares the living hell out of young me making me think my copy of blockland is "haunted" like a cliche creepypasta story if you ever touch the renderman addon again you should check out the renderman addon made by "Lake", as it's basically the most recent and up-to-date/advanced version of the renderman addon
I first got the game in 2015 via the official website, so a decent while after the last update was announced, but not so much that the playerbase was gone. I think it was an abundance of classic Blockland machinimas that convinced me to get the game; the likes of 8bitcube, Filipe1020 etc. To this day my 'shining moment' was when someone who was part of a decently large short-film ended up on a server I hosted. That didn't last very long though. Everyone built massive penises which was a shock to 13 year old me, and I shut the server down
Yeah I remember the machinimas well, really fun times. And there's no shock there whatsoever lol, people building dicks is just an eventuality of any building sandbox game
This showed up in my feed... Got pretty sad watching this. I hosted a bunch of deathmatch, building, and CityRP servers. I was even working on a full fledged DayZ rip-off at one point with custom weapons, code, zombies, etc. It's a shame Badspot axed the maps because it kept noobs around by playing on large scale maps.
If the DayZ rip-off is what I think it is it was awesome. Although there was multiple people hosting different zombie survival DayZ like rip-off created with ModTer Terrain bricks at one point as well. I used to host Zombie Survival on GSF Ghost San Andreas Terrain map long ago before DayZ even existed when we had terrain lol
I joined the community in 05 for 0002. I played a lot of old RTB TBM and AiO (back then Lanhoj promised everyone that worked on AiO a retail key but that never happened lmao).
Love the video, can’t believe it’s been so many years, seeing this feels like yesterday. I used to run a ski resort RP server on the game in 2011. If anyone remembers blockman007’s Block Peak Ski Resort, feel free to share below!
It was a great time and yeah it's wild how fast time flies. 2010-2012 were the golden years of the game and so much fun. Not sure if I played on your server but it sounds familiar, probably spotted it on a server list back in the day
I remember playing Pecon7's Boss Battles a lot along with war server where you can dig trench. I also played a city RP server, and a fantasy RPG server too.
There were so many great servers back in the day, the only way to really revisit them is digging through the forums unfortunately. Thanks for the comment!
Many people i used to play with everyday on here I realise I haven't spoke to in over a decade. I also got the game in 2010 after playing a demo copy since 2008.
Despite me having only played the Demo version of the game, that demo version was all I need to just start messing around and doing whatever my mind sets out to do. While it wasn’t the game to fully crank my imagination gears (LittleBigPlanet 2 was the game to help that out) it was a game I had fond memories for, especially when it came to the videos I’d watch during those years.
there was another banned addon that disappeared for similar reasons as the mini nuke and ion cannon, the RYNO V. also, re; RTB, i was under the impression (and still am) that with the steam release, there was some script kiddy named numb_digger who came in and started DDOSing RTB's master server, and that was apparently something the company that actually held the master server didn't like, so they pulled the plug. granted this is very hazy memories from like 11 years ago, but that's more or less how i remember it. wouldn't be surprised if the real reason was that badspot and ephialtes had a dispute though, badspot was always a huge shitter and encouraged the worst aspects of the forum also, worth noting; cityRPG was made by josh moon/null. very weird how multiple internet famous people can trace their roots back to this dumb little block game nobody even really thinks about anymore
It's really cool how so many "insignificant" games and online spaces can be the starting point for significant people. I had to look it up, but I actually remember the RYNO V and that shit was crazy lol. Thanks for sharing everything

Im pretty sure a prototype of roblox was actually before the prototype of blockland which was im pretty sure 1989 or around that time. Though roblox is way different when it was originally supposed to be. Either one didn't really copy each other since their prototypes were ancient. Their demos were released around the same time also, although blockland is a hidden gem.
Did some searching and it looks like the roblox prototype is a creepypasta? Either way some work was done on the game in the late 90s so you're right about that. Blockland definitely is both hidden and a gem, hopefully someday it gets the recognition it deserves.
@@absoIuteIynot I suppose but I wouldn't call it Roblox at that point, maybe a common ancestor if you want to think about it that way. 89 was 3 years before even Wolfenstein 3d which is crazy to think about. physics engines were just barely being developed at that point in history.

One dev who was immediately disgraced by the community and removed from the dev team.. spreading lies like this is so toxic. For the record this was literally years ago and has not been an ongoing issue at all.
I'm assuming you're talking about the Full House achievement? I somehow have it too lol. Maybe if the discords get together it could get obtained again
I was friends with some of the more popular add-on devs and got to join their private servers to watch their development process and even participate in helping them either test their code or build maps. I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything else.
Right? Those two add-ons were so iconic I specifically remembered them all these years later. The discords get players together every so often if you want to play again with a bunch of people
@@michael9r9r actually took some of the functionality from a game mode to make it. Zapk's original riding lava mod, I took it out plumbed it up to work properly and made it it's own thing. Ironically I'm also a software dev these days for the NHS in England!

These two addons are the most popular build rotating addons people use depending wether they want players to vote which map they like or rotate to the next map like you saw it being used in chat in the video for Zapt.

I played this game endlessly and well past its steam release. I remember the shadows and shaders update which basically sewed the seed for its downpart. I still to this day remember my BL_ID. 26966. If anyone still wants to scratch that itch. A game called Brickadia is in the works. Being made by many of the biggest mod devs in blockland.
That's pretty close to my BL_ID, around 275XX if I remember correctly and yeah the shader update definitely was the beginning of the end. Dunno if you watched till the end but I talked about Brickadia near the end of the vid. Not sure how successful Brickadia will be without true mod support
@@michael9r9r I typed out my fcomment before I finished watching lol. Good video. Was nice to get that warm fuzzy BL feelings and has inspired me to reinstall.

Blockland was goated. I remember being so proud about my BL_ID as a kid because of the resurgence of players coming in lol, I was like 3230 or something close to that. This was MY game. It had just about everything a gamer could need and I wish it was looked after more.
Oh my god man I remember getting kicked cause I was an asshole to people with higher BL_IDs than me my ID was 9770, I remember making fun of "10kers" and the steam BL_IDs lool
Blockland made me the developer i am today, the mod support it had is unheard of in today's landscape of games. I owe a lot of my life to it really I started playing it in Blockland version 8, 2007
I played it back in the day, but not enough to fall in love with it (probably cause i can only play the demo version.) it baffles me that blockland doesn't have workshop support when it launched or even since then, it seems like a no brainer. but it unfortunatly doesn't so its gonna be a little inconvenient to mod the game
For those with little to no computer knowledge absolutely, but I was able to figure it out at 10 years old pretty easily. I was raised on computers though so that would explain it. Definitely would have been a good move when it migrated to steam for the majority of new players though I definitely agree.
Ahh, the memories are flooding in..I remember TrenchTDM, grapple knife, freebuild, navywar, etc etc etc. sooo many memories. no other game EVER that I have played itched this part of my brain like this game did. the memories will always be there, but the game being basically dead is kinda sad, even though brickadia is OK. wishing my old BL homies the best in life, not knowing I would log off for basically the last time after RTB got banned following the Steam release...
RTB didn't get banned Ephi just decided to shut down RTB website in 2014 since he figured it wasn't worth the effort to keep running. When website shut down all addons uploaded on RTB was archived and people made Blockland Glass to replace it.
On another note, I have high hopes for brickadia, Although it wont have modding support. I do believe they are trying their best to essentially recreate a modable experience in-game. Having alot of features that werent in blockland itself. Ive seen people make all sorts of avatars out of a wild amount of different models. But I sure hope that you'll have the ability to make weapons and wearables aswell as NPC's too. We can only hope!
You can still do far more stuff by modding Blockland with addons, Brickadia has been disappointing people for years now if they don’t do anything I have more hope of Badspot coming back with a Blockland sequel then Brickadia releasing at this point.
so about the brickadia addons thing, they do plan to add modding functionality eventually, they're just hoping to initially lean on their own mini-game/event systems. whether they'll hang on to a stable player base long enough for this to occur, is for us to see and hope for i guess.
City RP and Mini Empires were by far my favorite. If a City RP was up I'd be there. I think I stopped playing around 2017 as well, and it's sad that there's like a peak of 50 players now with an average of like.. 10. Badspot really just let the game rot. Though he probably just wants to be done with it after all this time, (And I'm amazed he's still hosting servers for it.)

I feel ya, blockland was a one of a kind experience. I'm just glad it still has a small but dedicated playerbase these days.
Didn't experience that one but doing that vanilla is wild, good shit dude.
@@michael9r9r Those were the greatest times, it hurts to see the game in its current state. I'm hoping Blockland rebuilt will bring new players and old players back like myself.
Building addon mods can greatly improve the building experience, yeah a lot of people stay away from default unmodded freebuilds.
God I loved this game so much.. used to run a server literally just called “mini nuke & ion cannon enabled” and would frequently get 20+ players just fuckin around blowing shit up
Hah holy shit that sounds fun, and horrific for the GPU

i was way too young to experience this game on its peak but i still have some kind of nostalgia for it. it was the first steam game i purchased back in 2014 and i remember playing it with my brother and messing around with whatever game had to offer. really nice to remember.
Nice, in 2014 it was still somewhat populated so you still got to experience it. Thanks for the comment!
@@michael9r9r Thank YOU for your video sir. it was just what ive needed.
god, this game was so much fun. lots of great memories, especially from the soundtrack and kinda eeire maps. lots of memories of city rp or creep or dm.
It has a one of a kind aesthetic and vibe that I haven't seen anything else come close to. Such a good time.
Man I do miss this game, despite getting into it pretty late (2015), still fun to play occasionally though.
Definitely, I'm very glad there's still a playerbase
Hope to see you playing the game sometime atm people are addicted to farming crops in Conan's Blockland farming the past couple weeks.
The creativity from the community (Blockland) was astonishing. I just wish we weren’t so mean and toxic to each others. Yet all the fun and support I got there are truly appreciated
Yeah, a lot of communities fall into toxicity but I made some good friends during blockland as well.
I just ban people from my server if they are being obnoxious im glad it is far less toxic then it used to be nowadays.
I personally think the games Biggest mistake was just killing the dedicated maps without finding a work around for their issues with the shaders engine
That was definitely a big factor. Removing such a big feature like that pissed a lot of people off lol
Early 2000-2010s internet was a fascinating place and yeah BL was my first real experience with that aside from Newgrounds and other flash sites (foreshadowing for another vid?)
I'm very glad this video is allowing a bunch of people to remember their Blockland experiences from back in the day, I hope the game gets a revival in some capacity. It deserves it
great video, this brought back a lot of nostalgia, thank you for making this video
Thank you for watching and the kind words!
holy shit, man you just sent me back to like 2013 when i had a shitty laptop and i used to browse for HOURS on the forums searching for the perfect add-ons to add to my renderman server lol, i never really interacted much with the community, but i really wish i did, thank you for making this video, i really hope it gets a resurrection, even if its small
Thanks for the comment! It was a great community back in the day, and though small the modern one is pretty close
Good times
The good ol days. Thanks for sharing!
thanks for showing off some footage from my deatchmatch server (the neon one), im glad that even with blockland being dead as shit i can still make something on it and have it stick with someone
its also very cool that you used your own music for the video, keep it up its great
Your maps aesthetics are fantastic dude, keep it up.

I miss old Blockland so much. What a stupid game that lucked into a great community.
Real shit, thems were the days
Haha.
I play Brickadia now, as the building mechanics are real slick and building is what I’ve always enjoyed.
lol almost all my online friends stem from blockland and i still socialize with them to this day, awesome people i met on BL, really impacted my life. friends i meet on other platforms are just not the same, they seem very fake,
BL was just one of those games where a lot of good people congregated. Some shitheads of course but overall a great community.
Every now-and-again I get back into Blockland, the last binge I did was when there was this farming server. Really popular and a lot of people had great hopes that it could some way bring more people back to Blockland. Then like all things, drama happened. A heated arguement happened one day when I was on between and Admin and their top donator. The top donator's main farming crop were mangos. Each crop had a set grow time. However, it turns out that someway some how, about half of his trees had a glitch to them were the grow time wasn't going as long as it was supposed to. When the Admin found out, they started accusing top donator for knowingly exploiting.
He however agrued back that he didn't know that some of the mango trees weren't following the correct growth time. The reason he didn't know was because he actually had bot spawns set up and programmed to do all of the labor for him. So he never actually checked the crops himself. Once a crop was ready for harvest, a bot would go around with a wheelbarrow, collect the crops, then put it into a silo. He ONLY had interactions with his crops when the Special Merchant would show up to give an extra boost of sells on a specific crop.
Well that Admin had then rallied a few others against the top donator for the exploitation. Well after a different Admin looked into the issue, it was found out the glitch was caused by something completely outside of the player's control. The original Admin refused to apologize and so right then and there the donator said he quit, he was cancelling any future donations and was leaving.
And BOI he couldn't have left at a worst time for them. There was a really hyped update coming that would had seasons/seasonal weather. But a line of code or something had an issue with a code in their already existing game. Whatever the problem was, it was way outside any of their skill levels. So they had to hire someone else to do it. That person informed them that they would not only have to redo the entire code for their existing server, but for the seasons update. Which was going to cost them a lot of money. Money they no longer had access to. But they apparently agreed to it, hoping they would have a way to get money back somehow.
Welp. It didn't happen. The person found out they didn't actually have the money, so he left the code partially done. But that partially done messed up the existing server, and they ended up having to shut it down.
This was about 3 years ago, I'd say. I miss my cabbage farm ;~;
So a lot of regulars started not coming back on leading up to the server shutting down.

so the renderman v3 addon gets "disabled" but not entirely so renderman spawns when he shouldnt even be enable and it scares the living hell out of young me making me think my copy of blockland is "haunted" like a cliche creepypasta story

I'm pretty sure the demo version made it so you couldn't save builds? Still lots of fun to be had without saves. Thanks for the comment!
there was another banned addon that disappeared for similar reasons as the mini nuke and ion cannon, the RYNO V. also, re; RTB, i was under the impression (and still am) that with the steam release, there was some script kiddy named numb_digger who came in and started DDOSing RTB's master server, and that was apparently something the company that actually held the master server didn't like, so they pulled the plug. granted this is very hazy memories from like 11 years ago, but that's more or less how i remember it. wouldn't be surprised if the real reason was that badspot and ephialtes had a dispute though, badspot was always a huge shitter and encouraged the worst aspects of the forum

Their demos were released around the same time also, although blockland is a hidden gem.
Did some searching and it looks like the roblox prototype is a creepypasta? Either way some work was done on the game in the late 90s so you're right about that.

Something about the visual style of the game, as well as the time period where it was in its prime really makes it one of a kind.
RTB didn't get banned Ephi just decided to shut down RTB website in 2014 since he figured it wasn't worth the effort to keep running. When website shut down all addons uploaded on RTB was archived and people made Blockland Glass to replace it.
made really good friends in this game, don't talk to them anymore but at the very least they were good friends while it lasted. :(
Hey people drift apart, remember the good times you shared! Maybe you can reach out?
It has been a while since I saw you online on Blockland
On another note, I have high hopes for brickadia, Although it wont have modding support. I do believe they are trying their best to essentially recreate a modable experience in-game. Having alot of features that werent in blockland itself. Ive seen people make all sorts of avatars out of a wild amount of different models. But I sure hope that you'll have the ability to make weapons and wearables aswell as NPC's too. We can only hope!
It'll be interesting to see how it goes, but gotta keep expectations realistic. Thanks for the comments!
You can still do far more stuff by modding Blockland with addons, Brickadia has been disappointing people for years now if they don’t do anything I have more hope of Badspot coming back with a Blockland sequel then Brickadia releasing at this point.
The brickadia minifig limbs make me feel sick i want the dumb floating rayman hands and feet back
@@muggins2279 they do definitely look weird lol
so about the brickadia addons thing, they do plan to add modding functionality eventually, they're just hoping to initially lean on their own mini-game/event systems. whether they'll hang on to a stable player base long enough for this to occur, is for us to see and hope for i guess.
Would be cool to see, but yeah they'd need to keep pushing consistent updates until that point. Here's hoping
It's understandable that he'd move on but it would be nice to see the game get a little bit more attention. Thanks for the comment!
i remember debating with my friend about which was better. roblox or blockland
I did the same thing but with Minecraft back in the day lol
@@michael9r9rMinecraft is more of an open world survival game though sure there’s creative mode but Survival is the big meat of the game
Anyway, great video! You should definitely consider doing more stuff like this; got me to sub that's for sure.
Thanks for the feedback! I've been having fun making more structured video and plan to keep doing it.
Roblox fans think this is a rip of well its not
I miss Blockland.
It was definitely a great time
i love blockland!!!
It's one of the greats for sure
At least theres Brickadia
I suppose, but without add-ons I'm skeptical how successful it will be.
blockland is a game ill never quit most likely
It'll always have a player base for this reason which is awesome
Ain't gonna lie bro. The Blockand United server is an absolute shit hole.
Any reason in particular?
@@michael9r9r Most of it is gut feeling, but when you have a dude who has tastes on tier with wonderbread guy on there, and most of the same people are varying levels of just being plain gross.
It's like being around a bunch of people who smell. It's just not something you wanna be around.
And this is coming from a guy who's been on some 4chan adjacent servers.
@@TheTISEOMan umm what both BCC Content Creators, Blockland United, B4v21 Rebuilt and other server related discords are moderated and toxic people who won’t follow the rules get banned it’s way better then the old unmoderated mess of RTB chat, old Forums and Glass chat.
