That isn't the video MTV banned. "Body Language" was the video, due to its "homoerotic undertones" and the presence of human flesh, although the band members themselves were fully clothed throughout. Tame by today's standards, the video was shot in a dimly lit steam room and featured sweaty, writhing, Lycra-clad bodies.
The "I Want to Break Free" video wasn't very popular due it being a very bigoted time in the U.S.

this live is considered the best live perfomance of all time in the music.. also Freddie is considered for many the greatest vocalist of all time .. RIP for him .. he died too young .. great reactiion keep up
Freddie Mercury is the singer and frontman, Brian May is the guitarist, John Deacon is on bass and Roger Tayler is on drums. All are excellent musicians and have written songs for the band. Queen of one of the great bands in history

Brian May could not afford a guitar when he first started out so he and his father built one. It's called 'The Red Special' and he still plays it today. It has such a unique sound and Brian can do amazing things with it.
His dad worked with electronics, but he was also skilled at building things from wood. The electronics was in a non-standard set-up for guitar giving it a unique sound.
The second song is "Radio Gaga". The crowd's reaction and participation is so powerful. (the singer Lady Gaga took her stage name from this song). All of Queen's songs are great. In more than a few audience participation / interaction was not only encouraged, but designed into the music itself. "We Will Rock You" is the best example of this. Getting the entire crowd (no matter the size) to feel being a part of the music was a great talent of the band.
Keep watching and listening to Queen, you won't be disappointed.
I'm physically unable to listen to Radio Gaga without doing the claps. The audience participation is an integral part of the Queen experience.
the best 25 minutes of music in history... he sounded this good and he had a throat infection while he was singing...stole the show this was not even a queen concert so not all the people there where queen fans but they knew and sang the words from the start for every song !!!
Best 20 minutes of music.Period.I was 15 when this Live Aid happened and i was glued to the TV. Freddie had my Dad loving this performance.I was already a huge Queen fan and when Freddie played to us at home we felt like we were there😂 Love this performance and Freddie was sick also which is crazy.They couldnt hear each other on stage so they had to take cues from Freddie to end the songs.Epic!
Echoes by Pink Floyd at Pompeii or Dazed and Confused by Led Zeppelin at MSG are right there with this incredible performance.
@@vicprovost2561 Oh Absolutely I used to go see the Song remains the same with my friends in the early 80's for two years straight every weekend. Using a little sychodelics lol. Saw Robert Plant with Steve Ray Vaughan in 88 and I saw Floyd in 88 as well it was Epic! The light show the props all stellar so Yeah there are some other amazing performances of course. But being Live Aid it was Epic❤️
@@RockinMamaT Yeah, saw SRV open for Plant as well, then next tour he opened for Jeff Beck, awesome shows! Saw Pink Floyd 4 times, twice in the 70s with Roger Waters still in the band. All 4 shows were beyond amazing.

FACT: This was Freddie Mercury singing with a SEVERE throat infection… His doctor even told him to NOT do the Live Aid performance (because he might damage his throat) and when the 20-minute set was over, Freddie actually said that his throat felt like he’d been “gargling with shards of glass”!😳
Yes it was great Freddie wasn't at his 💯 present he had already caught the virus which made his voice crack a bit.This was live on TV over 80 million watch .I could be wrong but still think they are still together.

This was a concert with various artists and bands playing a 20-minute slot at Wembley Arena in London or at the JFK Stadium in Philadelphia in the USA to raise money for Africans who were starving due to famine.
It also had the singer Phil Collins doing a set in London before being whisked off by plane to the USA to play the drums for the rock band Led Zeppelin.
Queen pretty much was the best performance of the night and helped raise a lot of money.

It was great to see how much you enjoyed it. Queen’s Live Aid performance is still sensational after so many years and will remain so forever. The Queen fans all wish they had a time machine to get back to one of their concerts.
In 2005, their Live Aid performance was named the greatest live rock performance of all time by a BBC poll, ahead of Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock and the Rolling Stones’ free gig in Hyde Park. It’s been described as 20 minutes that changed music.

Freddie had a throat infection at the time, but he still put in the performance of a lifetime - that's why he is the GOAT :) Yeah I second retireddadlife's comment about you're prepared for more Queen & the live version of Somebody To Love in Montreal 1981. + I highly recommend Another One Bites The Dust from 1st of 2 nights of their full length Wembley concerts in 1986 :)

One of my luckiest moments in life was seeing this band in the 70s and 80s. I think i was 15 when i first saw them and i do consider it to have been a great privilege.

HHello from Switzerland, I think you did a good job with the video, here you can see Freddie as he was on stage, how he thrilled the audience and how the audience himself was thrilled. Having a frontman like him is worth its weight in gold for a band, and his vocal qualities are not even taken into account but are added to the mix. Just as clearly noticeable was how comfortable he felt on stage. Oh yeah, he looks different than in a video you saw? He had many "appearances", that was just Freddie😂. The concert was a Live Aid concert for Aftika, where other bands also performed, some of the bands that followed were a bit unhappy, because Queens really heated up the audience.
Queens and Freddie are always looking for new approaches to music, which is clearly noticeable in the diversity of their songs.
A favorite Queens song? That's difficult, at least I can't decide on one.
I think there's another facet of Freddie that you should look at, I'm just saying Barcelona and Montserrat Caballé.
Freddie was the best performer. It is crazy this concert sold out even before Queen was booked. And they did this.

The guitarist is Brian May, one of the greatest rock-guitarists in history. Uncomparibly because he built his guitar himself, together with his dad, in 60's. He built in some effects, that are even nowadays hard to recreate. Pure genius.

Just so you know Freddie's doctor told him not to do this because he had an infection that was affecting his voice but he didn't want to let his fans down and ended up giving one of the best performance ever.
At the time of Live Aid I was serving in the British Royal Marine Commandos in a refugee camp in Ethiopia. We listened to it on the radio. We were surrounded by the full horror of the Famine, but when Queen came on the radio those poor soles who were there even reacted in a very positive way. I remember that a lot of us Royal Marine Commandos were crying watching some of the children dancing along, I'm teary eyed just remembering. I looked around at men I had fought alongside, who were tough, hardened Royal Marine Commandos who had fought a life and death war against Argentinian's in 82. By the end of Queen's set we were dancing with the children. It went along way to help build their trust in us. The famine is only one of many terrible memories I have from 35 years of active service, and over 3 years hospitalisation. But when I remember the smiles on the children's faces, and their laughter at the terrible way we danced always reminds me that humanity will always find it's way through even the worst of times. I only watched it for the first time last year, my son put it on the TV. A lot of memories came back and a lot of tears.
My amazing Wife took me to see Queen at Wembley, U.K., in 1986 two weeks after I got back from Ethiopia as a surprise, we also went to the last Queen concert they ever did. I saw Queen live 8 times in all (my wife only 6 ha ha), they were incredible live. And yes, I am an old fart.
I really recommend, for every Queen reactions, to listen to the Studio version first, and then live. So you'll see similarities and differences, and how good Queen were live too. Some songs are as good or even better in certain performances.
This video had some of the best quality I've seen but they missed the Bobbies at the beginning 😞 and FYI: the guitarist, Brian May, is an astrophysicist 🔭

So you have Brian May the lead Guitarist who's been voted best guitarist of all time more than once. You have Freddie the best Frontman of all time to many people. Including some of his peers who have publicly stated Freddie is the best, including none other than Axl Rose. No wonder millions an millions of people say Queen are the best live band of all time.
One of the very best sets at Live Aid and one of their most famous performances. Another to consider is their amazing 1974 shows at the Rainbow and at Hammetsmith. They were emerging stars at that point with something to prove and were great out of the shoot, a true hard rock classic band with a great and unique lead singer and guitarist.. I saw their first 3 tours in the USA, they blew us away, try Liar, Ogre Battle or Brighton Rock from their first 3 albums and see what the shouting was really about in the 70s. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

Bohemian Rhapsody video was 1975. This is 1985...years have influenced style and sound. Some songs at LiveAid were shortened to fit the time limit. I can see you thinking Elvis Presley on CRAZY LITTLE THING - yes, it was a tribute to him.

Hello, if you can please check out their full concert at Wembley 1986. You'll love it! Queen had to shorten Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Ga Ga, and We Will Rock You, to fit as much as they could in their 20 minute time slot. I am one who loves their live music, over studio. It very hard to give advice on what to listen to next. There is so much to hear. But, you could try Under Pressure, Another one Bites the Dust, and I Want it All. These are songs you might know, or have been exposed to, in the past. Oh, you should check out Love of My Life at Rock in Rio 1985. That will surprise you. 🙂
You should definitely do Somebody to love live in Montreal next, but yeah Freddie was a character, he loved to perform! He actually had laryngitis during this show and still smashed it. The drummer is Roger Taylor, the guitarist is Brian May and bassist is John Deacon

Freddie wrote Crazy Little Thing lyrics while in the bath. Then he got out and worked out the guitar rhythm.

They all said the acoustics were so bad that they simply couldn't hear one another. That's where their absolute professionalism comes into play. They had rehearsed very hard to get their 20 minutes down to the second. You can also see they are watching one another and giving cues to one another through the whole set. Quite remarkable really.

Queen is still touring Brian May is still in the band and the guy from American Idol. Adam Lambert is the lead singer. I went to the concert in South Florida right before the pandemic.
Fun facts... Freddie had an ear infection at the time of the concert and his doctor advised him not to sing. But he did it anyway and knocked it out of the park.
Also, Paul Young was the next act on and he said to Queen as they came off stage, "how am I supposed to follow that, you swines?!"

You should check out 1986 Kensington Stadium .. 120,000 people!! He had then in the palm of his hand, as usual 😊. Its 2 nights July 11th and July 12th. It was their LAST live performance. Only Freddie knew that. Its 2 hours. Most reactors do it in 4 clips. He leaves it ALL ON THE STAGE!!! So much incredibleness!!
