Cornel West has been ahead of a lot of things. I feel for anyone, especially in the black community, who feels like he’s never done enough. He has been someone who nearly brings me to tears because we are not necessarily guaranteed that we get to hear from him tomorrow. He has been a very important voice because he has said what has to be said, over an extended period of time(especially on neoliberalism).
So, why didn't he run for president?

The president has to employ checks and balances. The president can’t just unilaterally lead, that is not a president, but a “dictator”.

Thanks for that grounding, I’ve since shifted from what I thought was appropriate; its tragic when fellow titans of the struggle have conflict like this. In the age of antagonism this may fuel the ire but it may be a short term solution, just another expression of polarization. But since then fascism has been brought down to low heat, we still need their expertise combined but unlike petulant children as adults we cant have everything we wish for. Thanks for reminding me of something I wrote in such spirit. It may prove that there may be always the need to cool our voices uttered in the heat of a tyranny. Their conflict may be one of sons and fathers, “all revolutions are at the core” I wish them now reconciliation and unity.

I don’t always agree with this man but I can still identify with so much of his ideas and comments. He’s a good man, and he’s not working to serve himself like many of his opponents. I even enjoy learning from him on matters where we disagree, there’s always something to learn.

I don't agree with absolutely everything CW says; but he comes from an era where you could debate with respect and dignity, and I don't doubt for a second that he's a good man with his heart in the right place.

He says a lot of fancy words to come across as saying something unique, but his position is quite one-sided and uncharitable of his opponents. Dyson simply responded to the negative insults that West thinks is necessary to fling at any one black who disagrees with him who have a different approach. Divergent views he is not interested because he believes he is always right and if it doesn't go his way he hurls a series of insults and name calling. Who needs this behavior around them? Nothing about action plan that is inclusive of all. There are many whites who fight for our rights not all of them are carpeted with race.
