I love that we live in a day and age where this quality of video is so easily accessible. This is so useful, well edited, and smooth. Thank you for the upload
I JUST learned something about your videos! If you play this one with no sound, it is PERFECT for someone who is hearing impaired! The visual is so detailed that you can learn to do this repair if you are hearing impaired, GREAT JOB!
I know this video is a few years old, but this is the best video I've seen to do this job. I have a 2010 Taurus with the same setup that needs struts. This video will make the job easy. You even give the size sockets needed. That's a big plus to me. Thanks so much for sharing.
I have a 2006 Montego that needs struts and I found this video. Great job. I'm a video production teacher and this video is one of the best I've seen on RUclips. Great camera work, audio and attention to detail. No annoying music, just clear information. Thanks.
I wish I could read all the comments because they're all fabulous Just like this guy was who made this very informative articulate and great visual. Job well done.
This is concise, well filmed, and no nonsense. Really impressed with this video. I've watched plenty of Ford Freestyle videos on various suspension components and this is by far the the most detailed complete with torque.
Buddy, that's the best darned repair instructional video I've seen on RUclips yet. Liked and subscribed! I especially like that you list every single tool needed amd every torque spec. The video wasn't too long and no unnecessary discussion. Top shelf!
Great video quality, step by step visuals & necessary tools info. No wasted footage or commentary. Man, you really did a good job. One of the auto how-to videos I've ever seen on RUclips 😁😎
Excellent video. Straight forward, to the point and all the stuff you need to know without unnecessary commentary. I have a 2005 Freestyle I need to replace the struts on...this shows all I need to know, thanks!
Great video, found when looking for experience videos for doing the same job on a 2008 taurus FWD. I have the Ford shop manuals and this procedure is pretty much the same. There are several other videos that offer tips on ways to do this without removing the steering knuckle (loosen subframe, remove lower control arm, etc.) but they all seem to be a compromise in one way or another. Thanks for making this and publishing it. You've got a gift for being concise and yet fully informative. Kudos!
Just as an update: the 2008 Taurus is roughly similar, with some minor differences in some of the nut/bolt sizes. Overall, the process is the same, and this video is a great no-nonsense explanation. I grabbed some loaner tools from autozone to make the process a bit easier: FWD hub puller, a Ford ball join adapter set, and a 32mm axle nut (which I ended up not needing bc I bought a deep-well socket set from H-F that included one).
You’re video was recommended to me by RUclips. I clicked it and I was very surprised by your camera work and editing. This video was top shelf work. I think ill become a subscriber!
Did a real good video on it I've seen some other videos without taking a lower ball joint off an outer tie rod, I'll definitely follow his instructions when I change my struts next week when it gets warmer out.
Job well done Sir. This is the first video that I've seen on You Tube from start to finish, on how to remove and replace a component on a vehicle. Including the tools required and the torque specs is a bonus. Straight to the point from A-Z. Thank you for posting this video.
Hands down the best diy car video I have seen and I'm not even working on this type of vehicle idk how you got 5 dislikes but you explained this literally step by step a child could have did it
Hello B. Garage, I own a Ford 500 - 2006. I reside in Canada and the winter is very hard on any car. I was looking for a video on how to replace the struts. Thank you very much for taking the time to teach us all. I will buy some of the tool you are using and I will give it a try. Ford Dealership wants $1,800 Canadian dollars (or $1,324 US) + 13% tax, plus: Environmental fee, shop fee, kit fee, grease fee, tools fee and disposal fee for each strut. Hope you have a good day, Cynthia
Wow this video is very clear to Techland all the critical parts of the removal and install. Although I could be like everyone else and be critical about the use of the impact gun when there's torque specs, but seriously we all do the same thing anyways.
Thank You Barricade Garage. Very sharp detailed video with socket sizes for each step. I have this car about to do the same procedure. Know what im going to need for sockets/wrenches. Thank again for this video! The occasional background music is cool too.
Great step by step video! I plan to replace the struts in my Five Hundred and this is really helpful. I like that you show what socket size you are using and the video shows everything clearly. Thanks!
He made this video for a sub who recently got a problem with his car, 2 YEARS ago, he's traveling through time just to help a sub, KEEP THIS NIGGA SAFE
Hey bro another great video! I swear seeing you do your thing motivates me brother. Im currently working at a Subaru dealer in NC and i feel like im being held back. Ive been tryna get my clientele up so i can get my money right and work for myself. I love your content and use your vids for reference. Thanks for everything brotha
I just had all four struts/springs replaced on my 2008 Ford Taurus X (160,000 miles). The ride is magnificent - BUT I now hear a faint spring "boing" on the front right strut, only when in a parking situation, turning the steering wheel slowly. Been over a week. Was going to give it some break-in time, but still hear it. Sighhhhhhhh.... Back to the mechanic who installed it. :/
Great Video man!! I just did mine wish I would have watched this beforehand. Was pretty bummed when I discovered I had to drop the lower control arm but it wasn't so bad. Thumbs Up!
Excellent video, wish I would have seen it earlier when I replaced my strut without removing the axle nut, was a lot harder leaving the axle in place. Good job!
Professional like instruction and nice tips thrown in also.. Love music went well with the video.. Keep spitting truth and also teaching others that they too can fix vehicles on their own.. Peace Bro🙏
This setup is exactly the same as the Ford Freestyle as well. A couple of the bolt sizes are different. This looks easier than replacing the lower control arm.
You made a good video the only thing I did different was instead of taking the lower ball joint off of the spindle I removed the front bolt on the control arm. This gave me enough room to pivot the control arm down far enough to pop the strut out of the top of the spindle. You don’t wanna completely disconnect the top of the strut until you get the bottom out of the spindle.
Fantastic video extremely informative and to the point it’s perfect I’m doing this today I have all my socket sizes and wrenches laid out thank you again
Great video. Especially your camera work and instructions. Which you was here in Detroit, Mi. My son's 2007 needs struts and possibly a transmission. ,,😱
Flawless edit. Concise and great pace! I would eliminate power tool sounds if possible for an even more spectacular directional video! Job well done! Subscriber 4L! 🇺🇸🔥🔥🔥
Your video is one of the best in auto repair. It's would be very helpful. I do plan to change mine but will buy the shock absorber only and re-use the spring. Don't know it that is possible!
I was looking to just reuse the spring and only buy the shock as well but I think they only sell the complete strut because I wasnt able to find any aftermarket ones like that
@@barricadegarage5361 from Amazon this one is one of the 4 absorbers: KYB 334639 Excel-G Gas Strut (front/left) costs only $44.81 while a PAIR with springs ECCPP Complete Struts Spring Assembly Front Struts Shock Absorber cost $160.75 (but not a brandname). Well, will see if I can put old spring onto the new strut to save money!
Great walk-through, all the important info laid out clearly. Any tips on getting a control arm in? The knuckle is too far away for the ball joint to set into place. The part is not too short, but can't get the knuckle far enough inward to get all three points in place.
I love ur comedies too man and I been to prison a couple times for drugs and guns. Not gonna glorify it so I'm not gonna say what I did because what matters is now. I learned how to fix cars too and started experimenting when my VCR was eating tapes and shit. There's not alot of men that are handy with shit anymore.
So let me get this straight... the Milwaukee cordless impact, has both 85 and 258 ft lb of torque, with the pull of the trigger? Now I know I bought my Ingersoll Rand air impact, because it was 950 ft pounds of reverse torque. But only 650 foot pounds of forward toward. Because I also have all of these torque sticks, and torque wrenches. I didn't know Milwaukee had a, one-size-fits-all program going on there. I'm going to have to check that out. As soon as Snap-on releases their magic wand.
I thought I was a good commentary on replacing the strut . I have a 2007 Mercury Montego same as a Ford 500 how do i replace the driver side left side transaxle C shaft because I'm having trouble getting it out. Thanks Harry
One of the best explained car repairs videos I've seen, great job. I'm going thinking of having my struts replaced on my 2006 Ford 500 limited with 135,000 miles just to try and get a smoother, better ride. Is there a particular strut that would be better for this? Thanks, John
john g im not really really sure. my buddy ordered these struts online from rockauto.com. they were $150 for each strut assembly and he said it rides alot smoother now, but that could be because the original struts were so worn out
Can you confirm me, is there any difference for Strut in AWD and FWD OR they are same? And if there is a difference whats is the difference? I have AWD, I am confuse while selecting the part online.

When does the lower control arm have to be lifted to torque the bolts? I thought they only have to be lifted when dealing with bushings.
Great! Right to the point!
Thx. What a great, informative video! But how do I replace the strut on the drivers side? (🤷🏽♂️) Just kidd'n...
He literally done this shit in 7min😧👏👏
Been on one side for 7 hours just trying to take everything off. I hate living up north. His nuts and bolts look brand new compared to mine
👍 good video, thanks.

Nice work BG .
I got the same whip ...
I'm gettin ready to do a complete suspension rebuild on mines ...
What kind of shock/strut DO You recommend ?
