For those who truly appreciate the cutting edge of master craftsmanship - a limited edition 40th anniversary G-SHOCK collaboration watch featuring the stunning techniques of master swordsmith Sadanobu Gassan.
Evoking the philosophy of the Japanese sword, the titanium band is crafted by Gassan to resemble a tang. This hidden, but pivotal part of the sword is traditionally marked with a yasuri-me pattern to keep the blade firmly in the handle. Gassan hand-carves the watch band with these marks and with 鍛 and 錬 inscriptions as a symbol of his family’s devotion to swordsmithing. This dedication to detail and excellence imbues each timepiece with a unique presence all its own.
Casio introduces its all-new hybrid titanium bezel that evokes the look of the Gassan family’s signature ayasugi-hada patterns. This newly developed titanium is crafted with recrystallized layers of pure and Ti64 titanium, a process overseen by Gassan himself to capture the true beauty of a sword blade’s temper patterns.
The blue-gray bezel, band and case back, finished in the most recent addition to Casio color ion plating technology, express the blue-tinged ferrous coloration that is the mark of a finely crafted sword. Recrystallized pure titanium for the case features a distinctive crystallized pattern treated with a deep-layer hardening process and a titanium carbide finish for even greater strength and abrasion resistance. An engraved metal plate commemorating the G-SHOCK 40th anniversary at the 10 o’clock position adds a final touch of edgy styling.
This truly special MR-G celebrates both the traditional artisanal techniques and cutting-edge technologies of Japan - all in a singular sword-inspired timepiece.

i love my couple of g shocks, a casioak and rangeman limited edition GW-9400CMJ-3, but at 8k for something like this im going to just get a rolex datejust, another omega or something with a more broad appeal that will be a better investment at that price point. though maybe the limited to 500 aspect will make this thing a great collector piece that will go up with so few being made? somebody else here mentioned getting a sword with one of these. that could sway me to get a handcrafted sword to go with it.... a matching sword and watch would be dope. a nice old timey tool & a new digital one together, bridging the gap between the past and future.
Don't compare this masterpiece to your investment crap. This is clearly not for you.
Rolex Datejust is damned ugly in my book - this Casio is a beauty.
Don't worry about the contrived value based upon a name, this clearly has superior craftsmanship based on all the reviews I've seen.
