    Just got my Certificate last year for ServiceNow administrator and getting my dev cert this year. Just starting the scripting fundamentals. I already have exp with raw JavaScript through college and web development so I'm hoping the transition to ServiceNow dev wont be too difficult.

    Any advice on heading into the sys admin route? About to graduate in the summer (have to finish frontiers and enterprise computing), got a full time job being a coordinator for projects and technology. And while I’m doing that I want to work on things, certificates , etc. to eventually go into the sys admin position. Any advice?

      I would recommend learning the operating of the type of server you want to admin as well as possible. Learn the command line well.

    I have been struggling to find a new job as a software engineer specializing in front end development using JS, React, and right now I’m exploring other career paths within tech, how much of a learning curve is there for someone who’s been a front end developer for a few years and how is the job market for service now developers?
    At this point the job market is brutal for front end, back end, full stack engineering

    OMGGG I GRADUATED FROM UCF last year! What do salaries look like as a dev btw I was offered 60-80k as a CMDB analyst in Disney in Orlando (don't know the exact yet as im waiting for the letter)? I heard servicenow is going towards more react type elements now so should I focus on react or angularjs? I have just 2 months of help desk outside of that.I also got into the NextGen externshp program to get my CSA and CAD for free and we build projects too. Is it difficult to get a remote job? Do you have to do live or white board coding for interviews? Thanks in advance!

      The standard logic is to focus on React, or better yet their new framework. That being said know the basics first.

      That really depends on what you want to do. If both roles pay well you just have to ask yourself if you are happy with ServiceNow or if you'd rather do something else.

    Hey good video, i have an offer for a junior position as a servicenow developer, i have over 1 year of experience with HTML, CSS and JS, do you think this position would suit me if i enjoy frontend and visual things more than backend stuff? I would like something in IT on the 'easier side', you know, some coding but not too much and not too stressful. I don't really enjoy backend stuff.

    • @MarkEndsley
      @MarkEndsley  Год назад

      A lot of ServiceNow work tends to be less visual, but if you get into the Service Portal or Workspaces it can be quite visual. Even on the platform view today you can do some DOM manipulation but it generally isn't recommended. I would give it a try, it certainly isn't as stressful as other things I've coded.

    In new to service now and wanted to change a career path. As a beginner in web developing, how many years will it take to become a servicenow developer? Im currently working as a Helpdesk

    • @MarkEndsley
      @MarkEndsley  2 года назад

      That REALLY depends on the resources and connections at hand? Do you work help desk in ServiceNow?
      If you do, and you make your intentions clear to management, and they are not bad managers, it could be anywhere from a yearish to a few years.
      If your company is using ServiceNow, you will need to figure out how much in house development they do. If they do that to any degree you've got a pretty good shot. However, many companies just use contractors to do their custom work.
      If they don't have a team, or you aren't even working in ServiceNow, your best bet is to learn and apply to other jobs as you work your job. I had a pretty good and fast timeline, but my experience was optimal.
