Try heat wrapping the whole exhaust. Heard off similar issues with a rear mount setup on a corvette, struggling to make boost. End result being that it just lost so much heat energy down the length of the exhaust. Wrapped the whole lot front to back and brought it back to life.
Mike and Frank actually remedied the boost issue, the turbo was bad, however it still struggles to make power, but the theory is the cold side run back to the front is too small and the motor is trying to breath through a straw. Think they plan to increase to cold side to 3” and see what happens
hows it holding up with no resevoir for the oil return? doin research for rearmounting my acura and stubled across this beut of a project. GOAWD IT SOUNDS GREAT
@@lse90garage Can you explain? I've watched a few boosted on stock motor builds and one thing I noticed was they recommended increasing the ring gap size for a factory motor. Here is the specs for ring gap for a boosted motor: Modified or Nitrous Oxide - 0.005in x 4.00in bore = 0.020 inch ring gap High Performance Racing - .0055in x 4.00in bore = 0.022 inch ring gap Racing with Nitrous/Turbo - 0.006in x 4.00in bore = 0.024 inch ring gap Racing Blower/Supercharger - 0.007 x 4.00in bore = 0.028 inch ring gap
@@brarautorepairs We’re aware of the bore formula for ring gap. Have you ever actually built a boosted car? While it’s great to gap for boost, it’s not a guaranteed necessity or something that if you don’t do it the motor won’t live. We have dozens of customer cars that are boosted, on bone stock bottom ends, making 8-900 wheel and living comfortably. Good fuel, and a good tune go a long way.
@@lse90garage I've built my own 1gen neon with a swapped 2.4L (PT cruiser engine with turbo from srt4) and we had a great time with a turbo integra. The next project is a ford sohc 4.6l that seems to not mind being boosted. I also talked about the ring lands in reference to the way they went in the video. Looked like the ring had no where to go so it damaged the ring land.
Do you guys think it was the 0.024 ring gap, piston, not enough cooling....what made it fail? Is that a stock LS6 piston? What gas were you running? If it's the gap what do you suggest it should be? Good stuff as usual gentleman, your content always makes me want to turn some wrenches.
It’s hard to say really, the 6.0 actually made less power than expected when it was n/a so it’s possible it was hurt before we ever did the turbo. Ring gap and heat definitely play a role in longevity but we’ve made more power than this on stock junkyard stuff before. Just one of those things I suppose, when you have so many hood used engines you’re bound to run into a bad one eventually.

@@lse90garage nice work brother, don't forget to maybe try bring that oil scavenge pump level with the turbo? Stops oil level backing up into turbo. Keep the vids coming! Love it.
ls + bmw = perfect car
I like the rear emblem, 360i 😂,
My 135i is getting the 153i Conversion 😂
It's smoking because of the oil drain. I had the same issue with my rear mount LS. You need a tank to drain into first.
Yep lots of oil issues
Bro you have the best fab skills, bar none! 👍

Nice I'm hoping to get my new shop in December so I can start this on my 335i
Why would you do that on 335i ?
Mans said he want all the turbos

Fucking awesome man I had plans to do the same with my 06 manual 325i, but ended up getting a 335. Badass tho bro show us more of the car!!!
That's funny I just bought a 06 manual 325i and it's getting a rear mount. That's how I ended up here 😂
is the piping coming from the intercooler to the turbo aluminum or steel
Looks awesome. I'm thinking about doing a rear mount on my old beater truck lol maybe a self contained oil tank with oil cooler out back
How do you get pressure on a system like that?
What muffler. I love it.
No idea, some Chinese Amazon thing lol, prob something Frank had laying around
Any time you boost a motor you have to file down the ring so you don't blow the ring lands.
I’m sure that’s what the internet thinks, but it’s not factual.

Where did you put the o2 sensors? Or did you delete the o2 sensors?

What brand bullet muffler ?
Amazon totalflow
How do you get the oil pressure to the back?
Long feed line

150mph ish

Holley Terminator X Max
