I read the instructions on the box and it says to prime the wood with asphalt primer. I couldn't find it at HomeDepot or Lowes but I found it on Amazon. It goes on easy like paint and dries quickly. It makes the roll roofing stick a lot better.
I have a roof in CT that looks flat to the eye and is a black 10 ft seams wide material covered with a layer of pea sized rocks. It is completely drained after a rain in about 2 hours, and completely dry after 4-6 hours. What peel and stick product will work on this? Most contractors that have looked at the roof have no clue. I want to strip it down, replace any bad plywood than use a peel and stick application only, (no fumes allowed). Any advice from anyone is much appreciated. Thanks
@@floyddiaz257 you're wrong. The self adhering base sheet is not supposed to be on the deck at all!! There is a nail base that is supposed to installed first so the material can be tore off when the time comes. This video should be taken down because its showing uneducated ppl how to void all manufacturers warranties and the wrong way to install self-adhearing roofing products on low slope roofs. Slap yourself
Thank you for your video. Questions: 1) After the peeling and stick, do you need to nail it? 2) How do you install the second roll, overlap or side-by-side to the first roll? If overlap as needed, how many inches?
I watched the installation the manufacture(polyglass) that I am going to use in my flat roof. Definitely the company gave instructions how to handle the products, safety and *tools needed. There is a new technique technology called "cold process"( not torch fire required) that uses 3 membranes(Sheets) (Elastobase, Elastoflex SA V and Polyfresko SA G) to lay on flat roof. 1st layer Elastobase SBS- attached to plywood 2nd layer elastoflex SA V- Smooth membrane3rd layer Polyfresko SA G- Granular membrane.I already filed a permit and submitted plan review. It is going to be my first re-roofing installation.* where are the tools? 3-4" hand roller and 80lbs lawn roller for pressing the sheets, your workers press their feet at the seams.
Roofing gravel washed down from rain can puncture the tin foil(thin aluminum) peel and seal, if walked on. my roof leaked until I discovered this and brushed off the peal and seal and sealed these pin size holes. Not thick enough.
YOU MR. ARE TOO COOL TO WORK. MAN NOW I FEEL LIKE GETTING MY VIDEO CAMERA AND RECORDING MYSELF AS I DO THE WORK. DUDE YOU ARE TOO COOL TO BE ON CAMERA. I AM STOKED.... DUDE! DUDE! MAN OH MAN JUST TOO COOL, MAN YOU ARE COOL! TOO COOL JUST TOO COOL.............................DUDE DUDE ! YOU ARE COOOOOOOOOOOL.....
Wrong, it should be fastened to the underlayer what so ever as long the membrane exposed. If you gonna have a green roof, with grass on theb you don't have to because of the weigth of the soil.
why are you nailing the membrane. Will puncturing the membrane not be a source of water penetration? how do you terminate the membrane? and why no upwards termination at the ends shown??
If you are looking for a roofing contractor, make sure they are licensed, insured but also FOLLOWS THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTALLATION PROCEDURES and PROVIDES SAFETY for their roofers.
Why doesn't someone design a nailer that sets properly with enough oomph to get through any type of wood used, with some kind of a mechanical stop? Seems dumb to rely on force "balancing" for set, since density, etc. will change all over the roof. This looks about 100X better than tar paper. Who makes a good reasonably priced product that would work well for a "fiberglass" shingled roof? Thx.
Why not put tar paper on roof deck first then put peel and stick on top of tar paper ? Otherwise , if you have to repair or reroof in the future you will have a very difficult time getting the peel and stick off the wood roof deck !!!
Its actually not supposed to adhere to the wood! I wouldn't just use 15 lb felt paper but they sell a nail down base sheet specifically for this product that the self adhering base sheet sticks to then the granulated cap sheet. It is supposed to be a 3 part system but no one uses the nail down they just stick to plywood! Also this man is installing it improperly the first piece should be a half sheet so the seems aren't on top of each other causing a build up!
Wonder how many times this dude has watched his own video..

Hey can you tell the product your using for the peel and stick the exact name and will this work with roofs with a lil pitch on both sides
You made a cool video
Wayne's World doing roofing 😂
😂😂
Party on Wayne
Love your videos for ever
This is good over wood? Any final product like this for under solar panels?
No it not good over bare wood! You're supposed to use a nail base first so the material can be tore off once the time comes
Bruh... wasnt he in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure? Enjoyed the tips
When did Rod Stewert start doing roofs?
😅🤣😂🤣😂
What goes on top of this initial layer of underlayment? A laywer of thick, permanent peel & stick rolled roofing material?
Hey What brand of underlayment was used??

didnt use any primer with the peel n stick?
Alex Odonnell no need
@joecee67 it’s a tar product, it sticks to plywood nicely no need for any primer
@@hercg1967 its NOT supposed to be in contact with the bare roof deck at all!!! Slap yourself
@@ArnoldandSonsExteriors that is where you are wrong. There is no problem that membrane is in contact with the plywood underlayment.
Dose it sticks on the flashing part which is metal? Thank you
Not very well unless you use primer on the metal. This guy is a bum tho. Do not take this wingnuts videos to heart
Is this Garth from Wayne's World?
Its party time.. It's excellent 😁😁
She will be mine, oh yes she will. Heather be thy name.
What is the name brand of what's being put down here? What's going to be applied next? (maybe I'll see in a minute...) thanks for vdo.
I can't drive 55, nails, rock and roll brother
Is this guy Jon von Jovi’s cousin?
Rain in PV?
what is that first black sheet layer that you put on top of the plywood?
David T. That is self adhere base application which he should of used asphalt primer to adhere properly to the plywood.

Damn wish my roof had that low of a pitch lol mines 12/12. But it’s better for the longevity of the shingles and has less chance of ice damming
Wait until you have to pay somebody to roof that steep pitch. LOL
Nice i prefer single ply roof tpo or PVC
Why?

I recommend single ply roof there is a lot brands Firestone Carlisle JM all them make TPO and PVC (PVC) membrane is grease resistant) TPO manbrane not
You never would have got your nail off inspection less that fascia was on and plywood nailed to it

The first layer should not be stuck. because the decking and membrane move at different rates.

Why are you using 3 in framing nails to nail down your sheathing? Use 2" brother. You wont be waisting time pounding the wrong nails in.

QUASSIM KANTAWALA word is that the peel and stick underlayment is self sealing.
Everyone have their own interpretation of self sealing.... you should take time to read the astm standard.

why was the roof not primed prior to installation?
Becasue it sticks good to wood without primer

You can hear the compressor constantly running. Slow the fuck down and let the compressor catch up and you won't have to go behind and hand nail ...
Set that air compressor for the nailgun correctly. No homeowner wants people using a hammer.
