Society does a great job at making us feel inadequate. Many of us have bought into the illusion that there is a certain timeline we should all be on in order to be successful: get rich by 25, be married by 30, work until you retire in your 50s. Especially in the age of social media, it feels like there is always more we should be doing. In this video, we're talking about how the illusion of 'being behind' & the pressure to keep up with others actually can get in the way of us building our dream lives.

I cried so much, and felt like shit watching kids from my high school graduate. Now, I’m here about 7 years later, I’m my career, with a high degree. When people ask where I’m going to college I always feel embarrassed when I have tell them that I got held back and I’m still a highschool senior. Seeing all of my classmates graduate in 2022 made me feel so left behind, and really messed with my brain. This year really forced me to accept where I am. I’m on my own path. Loved the vid Lynette

I think my biggest struggle is finding that balance of doing enough for myself to feel like I’m thriving. Getting in tune with that is so so difficult for me because i either go “all-in” & put so much expectations on myself, or I do the opposite. And find myself not doing anything. Both ways I feel bad, and I start to overthink the little things like, “should i plan my day for tomorrow or be intuitive” then I start stressing. Get a piece of paper and start writing down what you want (a certain job, better living space, more friends, healthier mind/body). Then, start writing thoughts on how you can achieve these things... what you can do now and what may be a long term plan.
I'm in my mid-20s and I do this about every other month. Sometimes the list changes and sometimes I end up writing down the same thoughts. Nonetheless, try to organize your thoughts and that will help with any anxiety or hopelessness.

I am 19 now and almost a year or two back..I used to consume social media a lot..for self improvement and everything and that made me feel like I had to study soo much that I can land into such institutions where the people I used to follow are..and study the subject that they were studying..but than I asked my several times whether I wanted to study those subjects and go in the institution everyone says are amazing..and though they are, I genuinely didn't feel happy studying themm..and I didn't wanted to join..so I switched..I have taken a year drop for myself to figure out what college do I want to go to..and even though this was an amazing decision , seeing people who are already in colleges and stuff I feel like I am leaving behind..at time these emotions are soo strong but than I sit and remind why I am doing what I am doing and why is it important for me..
Seeing social media as a 19 yr old, it's soo confusing..cause I don't know whom to follow is listen too, people are in so diverse fields doing amazing things and than it seems like everyone had everything figured out at the age of 19.

Thank you Lynette, I really do appreciate this and all of your videos. For sometime I have realized that I could be neurodivergent and realized that I am undiagnosed adhd and it has brought me some bittersweet emotions but also allowed me to step back and honor the way my mind works. I always used to compare myself and put pressure on myself to achieve things and be a certain way in society but now I’m learning to just do things my way and go at my own pace and not what I think should happen. And to truly enjoy life💗

I needed this video! I’m exactly 20 years old and lately I’ve been having moments like I’m not doing enough because the people around had it all figured out at this age and discourages me for not having things figured out and it makes me feel like I’m not enough at all and when I look at how others accomplish things at this age it makes me question my existence and I’ve by begging god to give me an answer and I found your video and it has helped me sooo much!

Hi Lynette, just wanted to let you know I'm a guy and I think a lot of the same of your way of thinking internally. It's funny how we can be two completly different people but have the same sort of self doubts that a lot of people experience. I just relate, I'm definitely hella neurotic. Peace! :)

I LOVE YOU SO MUCH SIS. SO grateful for you!!!!! Wishing for you so much happiness, abundance, and blessings. Like THANK YOU for calling out and speaking on things that people dismiss and minimize. This growing saturation everywhere on platforms since last year has really been getting to me. Because it seems OD, like okay everyone out here on the same wave. Like I love that everyone is waking up and becoming more spiritual/consciously aligned and connected, becoming more informed and sharing things that are elevating the collective, but it just seems like everyone is doing the same thing and it’s just everywhere in a larger growing quantity so it makes entering the space like a I’m just hoping on, this used to be unique but there’s millions of creators for the same types of work, now everyone’s doing it. Main reason being that no one, especially this generation, wants to work a traditional job and everyone wants to be able to be financially free and make money off of content, which I agree with. But a second thing is, people need to remember to check whether they're being real and fair as a human having a spiritual experience, not just a spiritual being having a human experience. Remember to be human too and that it’s okay, be kind to yourself. Like everyone needs to watch what they tell themselves and others, even if it comes from a good place. Just don't be a bandwagoner, and pause and think about the concepts and ideas we see around us and examine how they're toxic (i.e., glow up culture, leveling up, putting an expiration date on healing, grieving, being "okay," and how and what these things should look like, etc.). There are so many of us out here who are just TIRED and burnt out. These things take energy and drive we don't have to draw from. And please remember to not dismiss feeling through feelings and acknowledging emotions. If you're not ready, you're not ready. Accept it. Don't try to control or regulate something just because that's what you're told is normal, necessary, and acceptable. Take your time, that's true healing. Be messy if that's how you're feeling on the inside for as long as you need until you think you've gotten it all out and can move forward. As long as you're not negatively affecting or harming anyone else, then fuck what people say or try to advise with their judgments on "you need to get your shit together, move on, and can't be like this because it's been too long and can't cry over such and such forever." If the people around you don't understand or stay by your side, they're not supportive and you don't need them. You're not here to do and be for the world you're not a tool that needs to be useful. Yes, have purpose, but always take initiative when and if you're able to pour into it from a happy, healthy, energized place. Not because of pressure. So I urge people to use your discernment with content too especially being that there’s so much of it out there now, don’t just absorb it all. Have your own foundational approaches first, and find what helps elevate you from there. Don’t allow things to just change your beliefs and what you know aligns with you and what you need. You don’t have to adopt everything people say as the truth or tell yourself it’s something you didn’t know before that you know now. That’s not always the case, sometimes it’s just a theory that’s premature and it can derail you from what you actually believe and what’s right for you and the collective. Please notice how society seems to teach us concepts to adapt in order to protect ourselves as a mechanism as opposed to how we are fine in the way we feel and what we seek out. We’re not supposed to go in the direction of abandoning, our world needs to do better at connectivity and being human, because humanity is out of alignment.
