I have to disagree with the comments on Paul. I saw the Stranglers several times in every form. Obviously, Hugh would be hard to replace, but they have never sold out with whoever takes on the vocals. Paul was a fantastic front man in my opinion, and live, he brought something electrifying. Such a cool bloke. There is nothing like a Stranglers gig, with JJs bass pounding through your body. From a fan since 1977, this song is up there with the best of them, and the spaghetti western style guitar really gets the crowd hyped up
Yep, the first time I saw the Stranglers was with the very same line-up of this video. Paul's vocals were deep and expressive... and at some point he also played the congas! 😅
I'm glad Baz went on to become the frontman, he is far more consistent vocals wise than Paul Roberts who was always a bit hit and miss note wise. Plus Baz is just bloody good at what he does
Yes your bang on about Paul being inconsistent... really do like the way Baz handles it all n there is a bit of an edge to Baz that adds a certain something... even Jim n Charlie (SM) have sung his praises
