Thought the Pats had several opportunities to put the game away. I think games like this will certainly see the fans calling for Drake Maye, a very winnable game where Brissett took a few sacks that Maye likely would have scrambled out of. That being said we spent the offseason hearing about how the Pats were a bottom 3 team, so its nice to see that's clearly not the case. Really thought they should have gone for that 4th and 1 in OT, as they pretty much conceded that game after. And like you said, we need to get the ball to Pop Douglas or just the wideouts in general a bit more.
Agreed I feel bad for Jacoby because he’s done very well and I don’t think he’s done anything to necessarily lose the job but I think Drake can see the field better
What needs to be fixed is the play calling. AVP needs to develop quicker hitting pass plays - slants, crosses, and screens. Not these slow developing pass plays. JB does not have 5+ seconds to hold the ball and wait! Also, the run game is pretty good. Especially with extra linemen coming in. Why not run play action out of those formations? The Jets pass rush is even more aggressive. If we dont get the ball out quicker, kiss our chances goodbye.
Also that blown coverage wasn’t Gonzalo’s fault it looks like it was zone and he was playing the short game and was supposed to have over the top help from Dugger who didn’t know his assignment
I was at the game and noticed that we were in zone almost the whole game, and couldn't figure out why- when we typically play, and have more success, in man coverage.
Can't believe we had the lead in the fourth quarter, and choked! Ahhh!!! I don't agree with your analysis of Brissett. I thought he escaped danger in a very impressive way! The play calling on Offense in the 2nd half was suspect. Metcalf is a Stud, hard to stop. Seems like our passing game was fighting for each and every completion. Again, had a good chance to win. Such a letdown.
It’s really hard to say he would have done better because I do think he would have but I also feel lol he might’ve made some mistakes that Jacoby just doesn’t also I am concerned about Rhemondre Stevens, I love the guy but 2 fumbles in 2 games now. He needs to hang onto the ball eventually that will cost us
Mayo: "we are gonna run the ball that's no secret" Drafts a QB to sit instead of Joe Alt, drafts WRs in 2 and 3 but O lineman in the 4th to 6th. The priorities are not right.
First off, ya we are going to run the ball. Why? Because the passing game was nonexistent. There were no weapons at all. The o-line pass blocking sucked. So, rebuilding the pass offense is the best place to start. The D is very good. Run game is good. Drafting pass offense is a no brainer.
7 minutes left, Patriots up 20-17, and all they call is run plays to maybe get a field goal. Fuqq off. Piss poor play calling during that last stretch where if they ran a few more pass plays, mix things up a little, throw to Douglas a couple times. Jacoby running out of the pocket too much when all he had to do was step up a step or two. Drake Maye would have done better if they game planned more passes and play action plays. Onwenu got beat a few times by a smaller defender. WTF money boy? Totally win-able game. Sux for them to lose.
The biggest issue is that the Patriots aren't taking advantage of their run game success and that the opposing defense is cheating to the run. They need to run more PA passes/RPOs off of their run game to keep the defense honest. Even if its only short to intermediate passes to their playmakers. They run the ball almost every first down and when they don't its a straight vanilla pass. That first TD drive they ran a PA or 2 and it worked. It's less on Brissett and more on the play calls. When the offense shows a run formation its a run and when they show a pass formation its a pass and the defense just blasts them because of it.
yes, where is the quick, short pass game? One quick slant/bubble screen to Gibson or KJ (can't remember which) and that was it! Pop LIVES in the short game! Not a single target.
This team isnt bad at all. Put Maye in, Maye poses a threat that Brissett doesn't. Defenses will have to play more honest and wont be able to sell out on the run game.
If Maye is in the game the Seahawks would have 7-10 sacks. Jacoby is a vet and knows how to move in the pocket and he is difficult to sack. If Maye is in there this is an easy win for the Hawks in my opinion.
@raising5kiddos I couldn't disagree more with the statement of this being an easy win for Seattle. If we could ask the Seattle defense who would be more of a threat, Brissett or Maye. I have a hard time believing they would say Brissett would be harder to defend.
@@ronniemillion18 well I am watching all the other rookies play and it isn’t pretty. Jacoby looked so much better against the Hawks defense than Nix did in the opener.
