Hey ya'll, I've been reading your comments and I do understand the perspective that I could've gone a little harder in terms of looking into Pratt's values in the current day. When doing the research on this video my main priority was to untangle the rumors about his Hillsong affiliation and what he has publicly said in interviews, because I think the right likes to mischaracterize him as this constantly ridiculed conservative movement martyr, which isn't helpful or accurate either.
In doing this research I legitimately did not come across any information about Pratt's brother, it does not come up in search results unless you google his brother specifically, at least for me. Below is a link if you'd like to read more. And obviously, fuck the three percenters and blue lives matter, I obviously don't fuck with any of that at all. I'm frustrated because I did do quite a bit of research for this video and I always try to present things as accurately as possible but I'm one person and this is something I clearly missed the mark on. I wish I could add things in post but it is what it is. Thanks all for educating me and regardless I hope you found some entertainment in the video came away from the viewing experience with something new :)

What also pissed me off is that the MCU cast ran out of their way to defend Chris Pratt but never once defended Brie Larson.

My understanding of the Worst Chris fiasco was the anger came from how online hate towards black cast members had gone largely unchallenged and unaddressed, but the second Chris Pratt got mildly memed on everyone came (as you said) out of the woodwork to defend his honour. And thats what pissed people the fck off. Maybe election tension was part of it, but from what I read people were very angry that all these actors and Marvel execs were out here manning shields for Chris Pratt over such minor ribbing when their black castmates (especially anyone in Black Panther) had been getting absolutely heinous shit for years and never saw that kind of unified support.
Edit: it was also because Brie Larson never received that kind of support either when she got misogynistic vitriol fired at her every which way after Capt. Marvel.

most of this is completely new information to me, I honestly started tuning him out when he and Anna Farris separated. it didn't spark a deep-seated hatred or even an active dislike, but it puts me off when self-styled "wife guys" divorce/cheat/start treating their partners like crap as soon as they get name recognition.
For years she was the more famous and carried him financially without complaint. That comment about his daughter was at best stupid given his son was so ill and has health issues.

Chris Pratt actually did do something wrong. A lot of allegations came out about him exposing himself on the parks and rec set. One specific example of this was that he flashed both Amy Poehler and Rashida Jones without their consent on set during the workday.
Regarding his political views, you can Google him wearing "don't tread on me" shirts.
Although married people don't have to have the same political beliefs, him marrying the child of a famous republican and becoming more vocally religious, was a little bit suspicious.
This is less fact, but I think another important point about why people don't like him is that he divorced his wife, Anna, as he skyrocketed into fame. So it gave off the appearance that now that he was more popular than she was (a reversal of their earlier roles) and more conventionally, physically attractive he left her once he felt he could get somebody better, which didn't sit right with a lot of people.
To be fair, a lot of people wore don’t tread on me shirts ironically in the mid-late 00s and I think it makes sense for him to have done that since he is a comedian who gained popularity in that time

Regarding the flashing incident, I recalled that Pratt tell that story in late night talkshow or panel or blooper reel. He said he thought it would be funny and he was called to HR to be warned about this.
And he told the story, I think on Colbert, that he found religion at 19 y/o while working and partying in Hawaii. He got handed a flyer for a church, which he attend and credited for stopping him from the life of partying and drinking.
Arnold Schwarzenegger has spoken out repeatedly and passionately against Trumpism and he's socially liberal and fiscally moderate. Keep in mind that a California Republican in the 2000s was pretty much a Democrat who wanted lower taxes. He wouldn't have been able to get elected here otherwise. Either way, his father-in-law's politics should not influence our views on Chris. I know a lot of people with relatives whose political beliefs are opposite of theirs. also, most Democrats are Christian, despite what Fox News says -- not all Christians are Evangelical Trump-supporters. I am not a big Chris Pratt fan, but let's be fair.
There’s also the animal cruelty stuff in his past. He rehomed Anna’s cat on Craigslist because it was old and incontinent. Then the rescue dog that he didn’t take care of that was found having ‘run away’.

I think it’s important to delve a bit deeper into his beliefs. If you look at who he follows and even retweets - it’s far right individuals who cause literal harm to the most at risk minorities. That alone has made a good deal of people write him off and I can’t say they can be blamed for that.
He’s also a big cop fan and given his recent roles and instagram posts about hunting and traditional values ~ it paints a clearer picture of who this guy is.
Just think there’s more to this than a lovable guy who’s so privileged and misspoke (IE never considered how his words and actions beyond his own bubble existence).

I started getting bad vibes from him when I watched sime Parks and Rec bloopers in which he essentially sexually harasses his female co-stars to get a laugh. There's one where he asks Aubrey Plaza to slap him repeatedly because apparently it turns him on, and one where he shows up naked in a scene with Amy Poehler. In both cases the women are visibly grossed out (Aubrey even walks out of the scene while everyone laughs). He seems like the kind of person who doesn't care about his impact on others as long as he gets positive attention.
Aubrey plaza got off on it too, and continues to talk about him like she is in love with him.

Because those with money increasingly use celebrities to tout their political beliefs. I got sick of actors running their mouths about their politics a long time ago. This crap has been a whole thing since Reagan. I also believe now, after Pratt, that Hollywood deliberately gives people like him a boost, because of the fact they can be used politically, down the line. Haven't you noticed, just about every aged, retired or unwanted celebrity comes out, acting a jerk, politically? Woods, Voight, Eastwood, Cusack, Beau Bridges.

Believe it or not, in Hollywood you have to go along to get along. That's typically why most famous people keep their mouths shut and tow the line until they have more money than God and can do and say whatever they want. Typically by that point, they want nothing to do with it and would rather distance themselves from the controversy entirely. Jim Carey, for example. Dude is a lot more conservative than you'd probably expect, and most of Hollywood doesn't like him for that. But he's become one of the greatest comedians, actors and personalities overall of our modern age so nobody fucks with him unless he says something stupid, but he doesn't, because he appreciates having his own peace. He shuts up and enjoys his life.
This weird idea that all of your favorite actors have the same ideological views as yourself is so very American and so very strange. They are people too, and I'd argue it's pretty fucked up that people who hold different values, often without being forthcoming or offensive at all, are still cancelled simply for not plugging the ultra-liberal status-quo.
Why do you think some of the most successful actors are people who don't take side on a damn thing, and typically make jokes about both sides of the political spectrum. If you convert you're a sellout, and if you don't you get cancelled. So most find it better to shut up.

That I think is actually a lot more impactful of a reason than the Christian thing. It's just over saturation. He's in so many things (most them being mediocre and forgettable at best) it's making everyone sick of seeing him and forget why we even liked him in the first place. Watching literally ANY MOVIE ((even if it is bad)) is so much more believable when i don't know or recognise any of the actors 'cause ill only see the CHARACTER and not the actor playing them
It breaks my heart for all the talented undiscovered actors who just need one chance. Same with voice actors, filmmakers, and writers. We’d probably see more original ideas.
Hollywood, especially now, doesn’t like making bets on unknown variables and would rather use a formula that’s “worked” before. Chris Pratt occupies that handsome/funny guy well enough (to my chagrin). When audiences throw money at actual new material, the Hollywood machine won’t change the formula.
I started to get a bad taste for him the more he spoke positively about cops. Especially during the pandemic and the height of the BLM protests, it just meant at best he’s super disconnected- which him being a cishet white man, I just don’t see the point of giving benefit of the doubt. It works too much in his favor and harms too many people for it to just be written off as “some loveable guy who doesn’t know when to stop talking”
The vast majority of cops are good people and BLM was/is a sham.
The double standard of his defense by execs vs other people on the franchise who didn’t get the same support was what tipped me off, from there I was like… Hillsong? Anna Faris divorce? This is just the tip of the iceberg of weirdness around this guy
For me, Chris stopped feeling like a genuine person after Guardians of the Galaxy. Suddenly he was pumped full of makeup and smizing in every picture like Tyra Banks. He would LOOK like a literal Disney Robot while still trying sound like Andy Dwyer.
And that’s his angle. Chris KNOWS all he has to do is “act like a big goofball” for a couple minutes or hours and the general public will be like “eh well he’s a nice guy”. NOT NICE CHOICES THOUGH.
I think that’s part of it for me, or a bulk of it. I realized he was just playing cutesy “look how quirky I am” guys that were rehashed versions of Andy Dwyer and people ate it up every time bc that’s what the fandom saw him as and loved him as. He doesn’t show me genuine acting chops, every role to me is just Andy Dwyer in a different context. Some of his earlier works had more layers imo. He started resting on “hot” after guardians of the Galaxy.
I got annoyed by him being in everything. Way too oversaturated. Then the divorce, which seemed like an A-Lister chose work over family and that's sad, but private business. BUT he just started a new family out of nowhere?!? It just seemed like Anna Faris was not good enough as soon as he got more famous and that immediately clashed with his good guy image.

I think he's posted some pretty overtly christian things on instagram too so I don't think it's just the internet running with something to characterize him as the god guy or whatever. For me I would best describe Chris as "the vibes are off", he hasn't really done enough personally himself to warrant like virulent hatred imo, but as an LGBTQ person that has dealt with these very religious god fearing patriotic types in the past, he has all the hallmarks of some of the worst people I know tbh. Yeah… NOPE! I do understand that you are trying to have a unbiased approach but frankly there isn’t smoke without a fire and given all of the things people stopped liking him for, also add that he is majorly pro guns. Enough said! I actually started shifting away from liking him since the second Guardians of the Galaxy. Something really rubbed me wrong way, how his character also evolved to feel much in the same way Chris was starting to act and it really made realize that I have seen this before in my real life. People being likeable and friendly because life was keeping them somewhat humble and flipping to 180 the moment they had more money, status and power. So yeah… it’s a NO from me personally.

I think it’s weird to say he is falling out of favor. In 2022 Chris had the number one or number two most watched tv shows on Amazon history. This year so far he has the number one (currently) and number three biggest movies of the year. So far both is films (Mario, and guardians) have grossed over 2b dollars at the world wide box office. Dating myself here, but he had already done a drama-ish role in Everwood (a drama in the WB, now CW), he was one of the main characters for four seasons, and he was pretty fit back then. Definitely the more conventionally attractive of the male characters.

Stephen Colbert is a man of faith, and also liberal, and it sounds like Stephen & Chris talked about their shared faith. I was able to only find one thing where Chris talks about LGBTQ people, "It has recently been suggested that I belong to a church which 'hates a certain group of people' and is 'infamously anti-LGBTQ.' Nothing could be further from the truth. I am a man who believes that everyone is entitled to love who they want free from the judgment of their fellow man." I just think he's a little over-hyped as an actor but I still like some of his performances.
I think it's pretty clear that he is right-wing. He follows accounts like Jordan Peterson and Ben Shapiro. IMO that says it all.
All I'm gonna say is, it was kinda jarring to have my friends say how Chris Pratt is homophobic and problematic (which I'm inclined to believe), while I lived with a roommate who's celebrity crush IS Chris Pratt. Also quick sidenote on Chris being Mario....I watched the whole Mario movie last week and Chris's acting genuinely didn't take away from my enjoyment of the film.

3. Chris stands with LGBTQ+ community as he mentions that government should protect people of any race, gender, & sexual orientation in an IG live with Stephen Bishop
4. Dave Bautista would break his relationship with anyone that is against the LGBTQ+ community as his mother is a lesbian. He is still one of Chris' best friends
5. The MCU actors & James Gunn defended Chris because of the massive hate campaign stemmed from the Worst Chris debacle that they were aware of. When asked why not defend Brie Larson before, James Gunn said he didn't know that at the time
6. A month after separating, Anna Faris dated Michael Barrett. Chris only got into a relationship a year after. And by the end of 2018, both couples were seen accompanying Jack on Halloween
7. Anna Faris has always talk highly of co-parenting Jack with Chris. Just last year, she said Chris & Katherine were both supportive & protective of her well being
8. Jack Pratt is actually healthy (besides needing to wear glasses). Chris has always said Jack is perfect & healthy during interviews. He also likes to gush on his son even after the divorce
9. Chris admires his brother. But he never really talks about his brother's politics so I don't know anything about that

11. Lastly, anyone that has ever worked with Chris only has the nicest things to say about him. He's kind, optimistic, generous, hardworking, & treats everyone the same way. They tend to say as the no.1 person on the call sheet, he really showed the nice way to be on set & as a movie star

thank you for posting this. My biggest problem with the Chris Pratt discourse is that it’s based on huge ass assumptions. For me personally as both a leftist (democratic socialist) and an Episcopalian, I don’t care that much about Chris Party’s personal views. Do I think he’s probably more conservative than his MCU counterparts, yes. But also I don’t know because I personally don’t know Chris Pratt and I believe that as someone who’s politically vocal person, I also believe that it’s within someone’s right to not speak on that. And if he was everything that he’s accused of, then his co-stars would have said that they don’t rock with him especially in Dave Bautista’s case.

Lets be clear about something since some people in the comments seem to misunderstand the remarks made about his Christianity. Being a Christian is not a bad thing. Everyone has the right to express and nurture their spirituality however they please. You choose your faith. The issue is that a lot of the social values attached to the Christian Church are very problematic politically and often go against human rights. Chris Pratt has displayed more than once a leaning towards these values such as donating money to his church that funds conversion therapy, he stands with the Blue Lives Matter movement and does not believe in universal health care.

My opinion of him starts and ends with just being tired of him being cast to play animated characters and his portrayals being serviceable but not particularly good.

My biggest issue with Pratt is his statements on LGBTQ+ folks. He also supports a church that preaches hate and discrimination. I refuse to support anyone that uses faith as a reason to openly hate & discriminate against others.
