Yeah not to mention Taylor Lautner wasn’t the one leaning into nostalgia to make money off his relationship with Taylor. Taylor was re-releasing her album Speak Now and so decided to bring Lautner back into the fold and ask him to be in a music video as an easter egg to the fans . She invited *him* to bank off nostalgia. Of course that led to people/Swifties/media asking him about their relationship and him answering, but dude’s was just living his best life before doing his own thing, he very much avoids the spotlight. Another thing she didn’t mention is that the woman Taylor that he married is a legit Swiftie who met Taylor Swift when she (his wife) was a kid, so is very on board with the whole Swiftie angle.
Lautner is using the temporary Swiftie spotlight to bring attention to other projects (that he’s working on with his wife), but he’s definitely not banking on his relationship with Taylor Swift the way Felton on Ned’s Declassified cast are. Very weird to include him in this. Especially from someone who claims to be a Swiftie and should know all this.

I also feel like people don't know how hard it actually is for an actor to be consistently booked and busy. It's hard enough to be cast in anything let alone a main cast of a hit show/movie. For many actors, they get one successful project once in their life and that's it. Especially for child actors like Tom who spent their entire childhood working and not having a normal life since they're like 9, I don't blame them for clinging onto the success if it means to get them by financially. I feel like the opposite of this is more frequent:
-Someone has one project become way more popular than all their other work, or makes their name playing a particular role
-the public can only think of them as "the guy from ___"
-No matter what other work they do or how hard they try, people will only call them the name of their one character, or associate them with their one hit song. The public might even lose sight of them as an individual and just assume they ARE that role.
So if you aren't left too emotionally damaged from an early acting role, why not just embrace it?
I think it's sweet how, for example, Mark Hamill has done plenty of other things after Star Wars, but he's willing to just roll with being Luke Skywalker when it makes fans happy.

Sometimes the internet acts like being cringe is the worst thing you can be in the world. Like who cares if these actors discuss pivotal work they did as a kid a lot? Just scroll away if it bothers you. I saw in another video on this topic the Ned’s Declassified guy say that he tried to move on with other work, but people always saw him as the character so he thought ‘hey, why not embrace that and look back?’
These actors were put into a predatory industry at a very young age and thrown into some level of fame that must be weird to deal with and (in some cases, maybe not for the actors in this video, but some) even had to deal with being exploited during their time there. If they want to take that experience as an adult and finally have fun with it, then I don’t see the issue.
And I’ve also seen instances where a formerly famous person (one example was an actor from a show in the 90s working at Trader Joe’s and a 2000s rapper driving Lyft) gets videotaped doing a regular job and gets clowned for “falling off” or gets treated with pity for working. Like they can’t seem to win with people lol. Can some of it be cringe? Sure, but whatever it’s not like the cringe truly hurts anyone lol. Also, using unemployed as an insult is wack as hell lmao.

Heck, that was of the main issues of this year's SAG-AFTRA strikes. I personally enjoyed the Ned's Declassified episodes and like they are so honest and open. After years of having to hold back so much while being a child actor and pretend to be pure to keep up appearances, what do people expect? To add, it's the fans that can't shut up about nostalgia.

I enjoyed it too because yes they're talking about our childhood but they're also adults. Until they brought up Alexa tried to subtlety disrespect her then won't apologize after they got called out. They don't look adults anymore(except daniel he did nothing wrong) but like high schoolers trying to impress the popular kids and it's really cringe now

@@theoutsiderjess1869 I didn't see it that way. Lindsay mentioned how Alexa was a really good friend and a sweet person. It was the black girl that found her to be crazy because Alexa said something she felt was disrespectful about Beyonce. They know Alexa personally and have their own experiences with her. We don't know ANY of these people personally. I do think the Neds crew should address it and apologize, but I also think there are two sides to every story. I do believe Alexa experienced a lot of bullying growing up, but it doesn't mean she didn't do or say things that may have been out of line herself. It's kind of eye-opening how even people who were not on the set of Zoey101 had their own experience with her that wasn't always positive. If Alexa were any other person, we would see a pattern. But because of Alexa's work, we are able to look past some of those things she may have done (and rightfully so because we don't know her personally either).

Growing up as a child actor must be mad. They don't choose that life, they can't possibly know what it will entail. If the worst thing they do when they're older is hang on to that character and be cringy, then they're hella well-adjusted. It seems like all the child actors in Harry Potter grew up to be quite normal, and from what I've heard, the production team went to great lengths to ensure some normalcy in their life. Daniel Radcliffe is an interesting example cause he knows HP set him up for life. So now he's just doing whatever the hell he wants, which is all these small but probably really fun and uniwue productions. He isn't doing the serious action star or the heartthrob thing, like many child stars do when they grow up and are desperate to stay relevant. I think Tom Felton just really enjoyed making Harry Potter, it was a huge part of his life, and now is giving the fans what they want. I would guess that he also has more than enough money. It could truly be just a fun thing for him that some people are reading as desperate, nostalgia-brained etc And hey, even if he has some new project, 95% of people just care that he played Draco.

I actually enjoy seeing actors talk about their experiences in the spotlight or in a multi million franchise. It gives a much more in depth perspective of fame and their branch of work, and it also kind of lifts the veil of misticism around fame itself, while casting a light on real issues we need to focus our attention on. It sucks that they are being shamed for being "cringey" when they are doing nothing wrong. I think wanting to separate yourself from a job you did for many years or that was very significant just so people don't judge you for "being stuck" is just as cringe worthy imo. Child actors that branch out are labeled as "problematic" and what not because they try everything to change the public's perception of them (like miley cyrus or daniel radcliff for example). Allowing them to openly talk about their experiences is healing for them and entertaining for the audience, it might not be everyone's cup of tea and that's okay. I truly enjoy the Ned's podcast, I grew up watching the show so now it feels lnice to see the actors moving through adulthood at the same time as me.

I think the inclusion of taylor lautner with the 'actors known as one thing' is a bit of a stretch ...looking at him thru 'swiftie-coloured-glasses' yeah he's just an ex but he has had other projects , granted, not as successful. Plus i feel like these celebrities are self aware enough to know that thats what the general public wants from them to fit into their own narratives of who these celebs are

I knew Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner dated; I just never realized that Taylor dated Taylor and married a Taylor.

Why shouldn't Tom talk about something that has stood the test of time and that he is proud to have been a part of? In addition, he continues to be called upon by the studio to promote it as well as other projects associated with the franchise. So, I would say that he functions as a pretty decent spokesperson. Tom also has amassed a huge body of work since the final HP film that includes movies, television, commercials, live theatre, writing, directing, and music. Finally, I believe what he actually said in regards to JK Rowling was along the lines of separating the art from the artist. In other words, do we dismiss an entire body of work just because the originator said something ignorant?

What is the conspiracy here with Taylor Lautner? First off, he was in a film with another leading character ALSO named Taylor...and then he dated Taylor Swift, that ended..and now he's married to a Taylor? Crying.

I will say Haley Joel Osmont played it low key, with a mix with of his role in Kingdom Hearts took a lot of his time to voice and be attached to. Also just taking a break from being in a lot when he was a kid. He was nominated for a lot of awards for the sixth sense. I think he avoided that fatigue but still keeping the nostalgia. I just said a lot to many times.
