I'm not crazy about Carlin's earlier material, headline stuff included, but one thing I love is how sometimes he cuts himself off (like he does here) to take a moment to re-read what he just wrote and make those "wtf?" faces. Like he's saying "Am I reading that right?" lol.
From this video it is so obvious how much more talented George Carlin is than Flip Wilson. Flip is just reading the reports like you or I would, but George is adding so much personality to the role of the newscaster that would be difficult for any of us to duplicate.
@@ladyrose7793 Yeah, comedy duos always tended to be much more effective if you had the guy playing it laidback and outright funny and the straight man playing it closer to the vest. It's why these cats are just so damned hilarious.
I wouldn't say that George was better,....Flip Wilson was exceptionally brilliant when it came to character comedy like his 'Geraldine' performances. Wilson's show was like watching comedy theater.
