At the age of 56, I'm fortunate to be old enough to have watched the "Flip Wilson Show", in all it's glory, when it actually aired. All of his shows were extremely well written, positively hilarious......and PROFANITY FREE. In this day & age, good luck in finding a "prime-time" program that has those same qualities. Flip Wilson....a truly underrated "King Of Comedy".

The Flip Wilson and Carol Burnett shows were the best comedy variety shows on television. Both were fresh, hilarious, and, I agree, profanity free. It's amazing how funny the comics of the 70's and before were without profanity. Sometimes just their facial expressions and body language was hysterical without them ever saying a word.

I was at a church in Jackson, MS, when the pastor had the doors locked and would not let people leave. Brother Cleophus Robinson and Sister Josephine James were the guest singers. The reverend said they needed train fare back to California, and nobody was leaving until they got the money. My friends were members at this church and they invited me. The pastor had already called for four collections when he decided there wasn't enough money for the church and the guest singers. I know it's hard to believe but were were actually held hostage. They had deacons blocking the doors. I never visited that church agin.

he was a great comedian, he did not need to bleep words out because he did clean
comedy, Osmond brother Jackson five every big performer been on his show, you do not find shows like flip Wilson carol Burnett shows these days, he got along and invited
white performers on his show, when I would go to school the next day my class mates

This show brings tears to my eyes because I can remember growing up when things for black people were looking up. T.V. was golden during those years. Everything on TV was wholesome. There no rap and hip-hop. Every message was positive on the radio and television. Life was simple. There were no drugs or people addicted to drugs like today. The black where I grew up in Jacksonville, Florida was very safe. Everybody was nice and friendly.

You are eiether purposely exaggerating a great deal, or you lived in a fantasy world in your mind. All these shows, if you pay close attention to them, were just leading up to the madness we are faced with today. Pre-cursers if you will. Remember the devil is very patient.

Dr. Emory Carl Sims, you are delusional. Not everything was positive, and dope addicts and dope existed back then.
We just lied and covered it up.

There was a lot of commandment breaking in all these shows. Flip playing Geraldine (drag), playing on false doctrine of tithing, and gambling. Look beyond the jokes and open your eyes.
