      Thanks! I definitely agree, they've always worked with me even before we started collaborating recently. I'd never recommend anything I don't believe in, no company is ever perfect, but they've always worked to solve any question or issue I've had.

    The insert took out the slop. I added mine with 126K on the original mount. I couldn't agree more with the video and description of how my car drives now. Zero or very little additional NVH. My transmission feels like I did a very needed software update to it. The shifts up and down are now so much smoother.

    • @DmitrysGarage

      It's really not that bad, I think the main trick is just manipulating the transmission height a bit when doing the work. I could do it again pretty quickly. It is clearly a lot easier to do on the B8 than the B9 though based on the instructions. I don't think a shop would charge much to do the install. Jack stands are doable but would be frustrating, though maybe I'm just spoiled at this point :).

I am going to go with the 034 street density trans mount and the ecs tuning drivetrain kit. hoping the poly mounts will be even less nvh. thanks again for a great video!

    The instructions say to Apply Silicone Grease to the legs of the 034Motorsport Transmission Mount Insert, what is the purpose of this?

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  Год назад

      034 could confirm but I imagine to make it easier to insert and reduce friction/binding up once installed as things flex.

    why is it recommended to replace the two bolts with a new set?

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  5 месяцев назад +1

      This is per the factory manual, on this car most bolts are considered disposable and you are told to toss them when you take them out. It’s hard to say if you *have to* get rid of them, because you would have to consider the torque and whether or not it is stretching the bolt. Traditionally you only threw away “stretch bolts”, but because everything is being treated like a stretch bolt here ur either going to need to do your own math or just be safe and get new bolts. Also new bolts are nice for future repair, especially in rust belt climates.

    i just went 034 stage 1 ECT/TCU in my b9.5 s4... when i launched it, i notice the shifts were very jerky. Is this trans mount supposed to help address that?

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  9 месяцев назад +2

      It does help by reducing travel/slop. Those amax shifts and hard launches are sloppy with the extra power from the tune. Wait til you try the stage 2 TCU, its even wilder. Which by the way i highly recommend even if you stay stage 1 ecu. The stage 2 tcu improves the transmission performance a ton and does not require stage 2 ecu. Only stage 3 requires stage 3 ecu and supporting mods.

    • @jefftmusic
      @jefftmusic 9 месяцев назад

      hi, thanks for the reply..that does make sense. i dont normally launch it, just to impress a buddy occasionally haha. If i was just using this as my daily with sporty driving from time to time, would you still recommend the TCU stage 2? I do sense the trans still being confused at times. I still find myself driving in manual more often unless im really just cruising. great channel and content!! @@DmitrysGarage

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  8 месяцев назад +1

      I think the improvements Stage 2 makes to dynamic mode are pretty significant even for a daily staying on Stage 1 ECU. It really changes the transmission, the Stage 1 TCU primarily allows more power out of the ECU, the Stage 2 is what changes the logic for the trans.

  • @spacecased91

    What if you unhooked one of the exhaust clamps and drop one side of the exhaust to give you more clearance? Would that be a better option than lifting the trans?

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  Год назад +1

      I really dont think that would work clearance wise. I would expect to have to manipulate the transmission and of course at minimum support it when removing the mount.

    • @spacecased91
      @spacecased91 Год назад

      @@DmitrysGarage I do plan on still supporting the trans, I really don't want to lift it and bring it back down as I don't have a screw type jack. I was hoping by removing the exhaust clamps from the downpipe to the cat back and removing the exhaust hangers that are mounted on the transmission mount bracket will give the downpipe enough slack to hang down and slide out the mount bracket. I plan on doing this install sometime this week so I can follow up if it works out. Frustrating 034 hasn't updated their instructions at all for this. Thanks for the great video.

    • @spacecased91
      @spacecased91 Год назад +1

      @@DmitrysGarage did it today and it worked perfectly. I unclamped the exhaust fitting to the downpipe and didn’t have to unhook the exhaust hangers. Gave me enough clearance to just drop the first piece once I unbolted the exhaust hanger mounts.

    dmitry have you checked out the ecs tuning transmission insert? i have the 034 and ecs and didnt notice any difference with either but the price difference lol

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  Год назад

      I haven't personally tried the ECS version. The difference I see when comparing them is that the ECS version seems to use a rubber component to the insert while the 034 one is entirely billet aluminum. I would suspect the 034 version has more effect on limiting transmission mount movement.

  • @jjchockey
    @jjchockey 9 месяцев назад +1

    Awful. Adds so much vibration when just sitting at a stoplight with load on the transmition. It does make things crisper and you don’t notice the vibration when moving but the vibration at a stop is worse than my Miata.

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  9 месяцев назад +1

      Are you sure nothing is loose? Did you re-use hardware or get new hardware? I have not had any significant vibration from this let alone what id describe as worse than a Miata. I suspect something may have gone wrong here.

    • @jjchockey
      @jjchockey 9 месяцев назад

      @@DmitrysGarage I got them installed by a reputable euro shop. The vibration is only noticable at a stop when in drive. As soon as you put it into neutral it goes away.

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  9 месяцев назад

      Thats very strange. I’ve genuinely never heard of any nvh complaints. Did you do both the insert and mount or just one of them? The mount adds a tiny bit of vibration, but honestly so little its borderline placebo, for me at least. The insert should not change vibration at all as it’s only limiting travel not making the part harder like the harder rubber mount.

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  9 месяцев назад

      It may be worth asking 034 support about it as well, maybe common issue with fitment or something.

    Do you think the mount itself would make a difference without doing the pain in the ass rubber?

    • @DmitrysGarage
      @DmitrysGarage  Год назад +1

      The rubber is the mount. The insert itself is supposed to make a difference on its own if thats what you mean. I think its worth doing the insert.

    • @voop00p
      @voop00p 10 месяцев назад +1

      I've done just the insert and it's without a doubt worth it. The slop from a stock B9 is unacceptable so the transmission mount insert is a must-have. You'll notice a difference especially between the first 3 gears where you can experience that lurch between shifts at certain RPMs; the insert greatly reduces this. I'd say Stage 2 TCU is borderline pointless without the insert.
