  • Hi everyone! Today I will take you to visit a pyramid apartment in China. It is located in Huaqiao Town, Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province, which is adjacent to Shanghai. This apartment is well-known for its unique shape, but it has also been controversial.
The design of this apartment was created by M.A.O., a Japanese architecture firm. The design is called a "stepped-back design" because each floor steps back from the one below it. This allows each floor to have a garden-style balcony, but it also has some drawbacks. The interior ventilation is inconvenient and the lighting is poor. In addition, the apartment has over 1,000 different floor plans, almost all of which are lofts. This makes the interior ventilation, fire protection, and pipework design very complex.
So let's take a look at this amazing building together!

@@Mira-ri7vs 100%! In pretty much all Asian countries (Japan, China, Korea, Vietnam, etc) including SE Asia and India regions, we’re almost leaving our house every single day to sit down and eat, or going to retrieve groceries for homecooked meals. Not many (if any) places will deliver, and the streets can be too way too traffic-heavy for “Uber Eats.” Even for the elderly. If you live in pretty much any apartment building, you should be expected to be leaving your house to get a meal cause no one is going to bring it to you. Delivery has almost mostly been a “western concept”…
As for hookups, that’s on them…lol

The biggest positive here is the crazy amount of natural light each household gets in these units. Seldom do you find that in a standard multi unit building. The greenery can be improved if potted plants were introduced in the common areas. In the private balconies, it’s really up to the residents to give it all character. As for the stillness and quiet - some folks love that over the hustle and bustle of a busy street.

Why not paint the retail shops one color…the food establishments another…the offices…the apartments…you know, and so on… AND, put in some grassy areas and plant some trees…plants, drinking fountains, swings, slides, etc. Considering the drab buildings and polluted skies all around, these additions would help considerably!☺️

I like the architecture and efficient design. The blend of commercial and residential is efficient and provides living needs in walking distance. It has character. It does seem to have a little bit of minimalism/brutalism design in some areas, but not a bad thing just efficient oriented. Seems like there would be good energy in a residential complex like this. The walk-through reminds me of playing a game like Halo in a dystopian city. Unfortunately, this particular complex has signs of tofu-dreg construction.

architecturally it’s very unique and provides much for the residents… I would really like to see natural plants and greenery all throughout it though… it’s feeling just a bit too sterile as is.. the soft neutrals, greys, white and beiges provide an excellent canvass for plants….. greenery and flowers, trees, etc. would soften it and nurture the souls.. maybe several water sculptures placed around the mezzanines also, to, again, engage the senses and break up the monotony of all the concrete..
