Already laughing at the renovations jump cut. Well done phlydaddy
People don't realize, the hardest part of War Thunder, is waiting and chopping out the 95% of the footage that's either boring, or downright unfair.
Back in 2016, who would have thought Phly would upload a video on the Tornado
Given that there were fighter versions of Tornado, I refuse to believe this airframe turns this slow
Gaijin saw a massive opportunity to pull a fast one on the three nations they don’t like all at once
F4d skyray CAS who’s with me…
I have watched Tornado's (aka the Tonka to us Brits) in the flesh many, many times over the years. They were surprisingly nimble things for such a big bus when flying fast and low (what it was designed to do) through the tight twisting Welsh valleys etc, the model in game is not even close to what it can do in real life. yeah it was never a dog-fighter, but it was not meant to be, but it could certainly turn quicker and tighter than whats being portrayed in game.
That flight model doesn't seem to make sense. Sure, the Tornado wasn't a super agile fighter, but it was specifically designed to fly under the radar at tree top level and hug the terrain and it couldn't do that without being maneuverable.
I just stick to the ground, don’t use afterburner, flare like crazy and pray to the snail. And for turns I use manual sweep, reverse thrust and flaps. This Aircraft takes a lot of training just to be decent.
The turn radius of the Tornado in game is realistic. The planes that turn 180 degrees in 400 yards while at Mach 1.2 are the unrealistic ones.
The tornado breaking its wing in that second game gave me an aneurysm
Yeah i live under the flight paths of RAF Marham in the UK, which until recently was the home of the RAF's Tornado's, and yes they can turn much, much faster than that lol. Where i used to work they would circle directly over head, only a few hundred meters up, and they pulled a much tighter 180 to line up for landing than what is modelled, laughably so lol.
This is one of the planes that would benefit A Lot from a Air RB EC mode with heavy focus on SEAD and stuff like that instead of focusing on dogfights like Sim Mode and the current RB mode...
as strange as it seems to fly at the moment, the whole plane just looks agressive, it looks amazing flying at low level
The edits at the start of each Phly video are so good. Shoutout for that, I’m normally laughing within the first 30s.
Germany and Britain really got screwed over this patch. We got Gaijin's "Britain anticipated jet loop".
that man worked so hard on his renovations only for a plane loaded with tons of fuel and a high payload to blow his dreams to bits
Thank you Phly, the intro was one of the funniest things I've seen in a while. I laughed until my insides hurt. I have to get the "I'm a pancake" file for my own purposes.
If they can't get this right you know they wouldn't get the F111 right either, if they ever do get the Tornado 'fixed' they will be all mad dash to get the Ardvark into the game too, where I guess the Brits will hopefully get a Aussie Premium version (just shame it will cost $70).
