So, the snake symbolism is one of the biggest keys to understanding the Reputation Era. Kim K posted an edited recording of a phone call between Kanye and Taylor that made it seem like Taylor was lying about giving Kanye permission to say things about her in “Famous.” THEN Kim had the audacity to call Taylor a liar and a snake and encouraged others to bully Taylor by spamming her social media accounts with snake emojis. Taylor turned the tables in Reputation by embracing the snake persona and using a KING COBRA as her main feature of the Rep tour. For those who don’t know, the king cobra is known for eating other snakes... like all of the snake emojis Kim and her followers sent to Taylor to bully her. Bonus: Unfortunately for Kim and Kanye, the actual recording of the phone call has since been released, proving that Taylor was telling the truth the whole time.
I literally just found out about all of this (I wasn't really on social media until recently) and it has completely changed my view of the reputation Era and album. I didn't like these songs before - mostly because they didnt make sense to me, but now, knowing what it's responding too I just... *chefs kiss* This video especially is just so🔥🔥 Edit: typo 😅😂
and fun fact: this music video premiered at the VMAs, everyone called it iconic, and then it DIDN’T EVEN GET NOMINATED FOR VIDEO OF THE YEAR AT THE VMAS THE NEXT YEAR. despite it being one of the best music videos ever imo 👀
It's like for Rep all the ceremonies were like angry at Taylor and didn't let her have Awards because people wanted her to be over the party. I know she received a AMA, but like how she didn't have something for all the music videos and the entire album. Call It What You Want and Getaway Car deserved an award.
Sharline L. completely agree. rep is such an incredible album. the storytelling, the lyrics, the production, EVERYTHING ABOUT IT deserved major awards. they better apologize by giving folklore what it deserves (in terms of awards)!!!
Reason why she puts everything into this music video: it's literally the biggest comeback of the decade. She was cancelled by the internet in 2014 thanks to Kanye West and Kim K's scheme. She was branded as a "snake" and the # taylorswiftisoverparty was literally trending. It was a heartbreaking moment because she disappeared for 2 years. In 2016 she suddenly deleted everything off her instagram, which caused the media to get crazy especially when she posted these kinda gory pics of a snake. It was the smartest rebranding move of the century ngl. Look What You Made Me Do was literally the first thing she ever released since her 2 years disappearance, that's why it was really hyped up. So if you're going to make such a hugeeee comeback, might as well go all out with it.
theres a theory about that plane, which is my ultimate fav theory from this MV. the theory is that 'Lover' was already created or at least the idea of it right before reputation even existed, theoretically speaking, the concept of lover was suppose to be released next after 1989 but then kanye drma happened and she got cancel sooooo she had to postpone the "lover" concept and create a whole new album. which in the MV taylor cuts off the wing of the plane so it cant take off and she spray paint it with "REPUTATION" to 'relabel' it. and if you notice what shes wearing when she was cutting the wing of the plane. its all pink and bright colours cause it, theoretically, represent the "lover' concept. reputation needs to walk so lover can run :D
Yes. She also said (from an interview, I guess) that none of her personas on the video trully represents her, except the one on the plane wearing the floral outfit,( which represents her present self or the lover persona). Just signifies that you cannot judge her based on the personas she created or mistakes she did in the past, but by how she is in the present and how she grows as an artist and as a person.
If you watch her miss Americana documentary you’ll kind of understand why she went so hard during this album and song. Before this album she got cancelled all over social media (#taylorswiftisoverparty, people calling her all sorts of mean names, and especially calling her a snake) because Kanye and Kim leaked phone calls of taylor which made her seem like a liar. The full video came out, and taylor in fact did not lie but people were quick to jump on the bandwagon to hate on her and bully her. So before this album she disappeared from the limelight I think for a good year and then reputation happened and everyone was shook.
I think she just likes red lipstick she has it in alot of lyrics that has red lip stick in them and she looks so good in them like red lips were made just so taylor can wear them and you should react to out of the woods next and I'm still waiting for the reputation reaction
Also! Every music video from 1989 and up have hundreds of Easter eggs. So in this one 1. The grave says here lies Taylor’s Swifts reputation. 2. The “tilted stage” represents Kanye’s tour of one of his albums. He’s on a tildes stage and everyone is screaming “fuck Taylor swift” 3. She got criticized a lot and made fun of because she’s rich. Press made a comment about her bathing in diamond 4. On the bathtub there is a dollar that signifies the sexual assault case she won. She was sued so she counter sued for a dollar. 5. The snakes is what she was called in 2016 by Kim. She took that insult and branded it into reputation. 6. Her wearing black with a bunch of minis symbolize the media calling her and her friends fake and plastic. 7. When she’s walking out with the baseball bat you can see “streaming co.” In the back. Signifying her fight with Spotify and not getting paid for her and other artists music.
8. Her walking into the room and having all the servants. Is because the media calls her a serial dater, who is manipulative and constantly has boys around her. 9. The one on the phone. Fans and critics were constantly criticizing her and wanted the “old Taylor” back. There’s hundreds more in this video alone that I missed. Every single thing in her music videos from 1989 and up have some type of significance. You catch something different every time you watch.

This was her comeback video after she was apparently cancelled by the people, but not her fans. This whole video has loads of symbolism. It's a dig on kanye and others. The whole theme of Rep is there will be no explanation just reputation.
Omg. You should go to the comment section of this mv to understand EVERY SCENE. ITS THERE IN OME OF THE COMMENTS. This is like her comeback after going thru all the drama where i think her label (idrk) said that all HER music is theirs. So the thing with the scene with a lot of Taylors represents that i think. That the old Taylor's dead. You won't get the old country one back cuz they played her and now she'll show what she really is. And i think the whole kanye kim drama too. She came back very strong tbh. That's a true artist right there
You are confusing the 2015/16 Kimye drama with the 2018/19 dispute with Big Machine. She still worked for Big Machine when she recorded the album in 2017. She left the label in 2018 after the tour. In 2019, when Big Machine wouldn't license the music for the documentary, and gave her trouble over performing on ABC's televised AMAs (because of streaming, not performing) she burned all her bridges in public. And, according to all the lawyers, almost all artists give the labels the ownership of their masters; very very few own their own masters, because the label pays them upfront, and funds the recording process, and books the tours. So, actually, Big Machine DOES own the masters, and always did. It's ugly, but its a fact. Also, in a Sept 2019 interview, she stated that she has blocked Big Machine from making most of the revenue from the music, by refusing to sign off on any commercial uses of it (it is called syncing). She has that right because she holds the copyright on the lyrics, even if they own the recordings. So, for the albums or streams, she still gets paid whatever she always got paid for royalties. It is why all the Big Machine records are still on her RUclips channel--because she makes money off it. Also, just FYI, Braun didn't buy Taylor's masters from Big Machine; he bought Big Machine Label Group in its enttirety, which also had most of the big name country artists on their label. Ever hear of Reba McIntyre? or Garth Brooks? Little Big Town? Tim McGraw and Faith Hill? Sugarland? The Civil Wars? Lady Antebellum (name changed to Lady A)? Rascal Flatts? George Strait? & more. There are a LOT of masters in the total collection. It isn't as simple as Scott selling Taylor's masters to Scooter. But that is the part that upset Taylor--in another interview last fall, I think she said she spent 10 years trying to buy her masters back---which means, right after Fearless went platinum. Which is total crap.

@@soniclyqaulan Here it says from the magazine direct quote "The faux diamonds used for this scene were actually a combination of a sequined blanket and thousands of plastic stones, as well as several pieces of antique jewelry strewn about on top."
This song and the album reputation was her big comeback after she was criticized and cancelled after the kanyekim drama. She hid from public eye for one year. This was the most epic and dominant era of Taylor Swift. There is so much symbolism in this mv referring to all the hate she been through. The last scene is genius because people cant come at you and say stuff when you say it yourself. The old taylors climbing over new taylor is a repredentation of the line in the song " the old taylor cant come to the phone right now, why? Oh cause shes dead"
An iconic video from The Queen of Not Knowing How To Have a Budget on a Music Video. :-P I've been enjoying the way you've been sort of poking your way through her and her work. If you do decide to do full album reactions for her 1. I feel like the deluxe/platinum versions are always worth it and 2. while background knowledge of her and her career, etc. helps in terms of getting more from the layers of the songs, they're still hella enjoyable just on a casual initial listen. Reputation as an album is SO well done; I hope you enjoy it if you decide to listen to the whole thing! :)
Love this reaction. The budget for this was around 12 million dollars and the diamonds in the bathtub scene were real. You should react to blankspace next
There’s a theory that the Taylors in the end signifies each song from reputation. There are 15 songs in Reputation and 15 Taylors in the last scene and I think she liked the post on tumblr too!
I remember when this song debuted...Taylor had deleted all of her social media accounts. EVERYTHING including her profile pics. She rebranded herself with this album. When she released this song, it was an homage to her old personas and old critiques that people had of her. In the part where she's standing above all of her old selves, you see the Taylor that made the dramatic face every time she won a Grammy, the Innocent self where she was forgiving Kanye for stealing her spotlight at the VMAs, her You Belong with Me self, her Red self, the self where she wanted to Exclude Herself from Kanye's narrative, etc. She's above them all, meaning she's overcoming it all. And yes, she says "Don't call me [that bitch] because Kanye sang "I made that bitch famous." When this song came out, she was basically killing her old persona bc Kanye and Kim tried to wrecked her with Kim's text receipts (and reasons). "The old Taylor can't come to the phone right now. Why? Cuz she's dead." Idk. This was such a beautiful rebirth for her.
also you have to keep in mind the reputation cams out after the whole kanye thing with the edited phone call, after the internet bullied the hell out of her for no reason, and after she had disappeared from everything with joe for months. it’s about finding love through all of it and i’m happy to say that they are still together
im not even a hard taylor stan but this was I C O N I C for everyone, i guess someone will come to tell u the easter eggs but if not maybe ill try, react to blank space also a great song and great video, and yes this was her comebach after the drama with kanye so it has a lot of references to that and i think maybr other things
She has said regarding her red lipstick someone put it on her during a magazine spread and she fell for the color and now its her signature thing now shes even referenced her red lipstick in quite a few songs
@@unstablymental1796 yeah, I meant Katy Perry (Katy and Taylor were friends until Taylor's dancers left mid-tour to join Katy's Prismatic tour; they made up in the You Need To Calm Down music video) In the car crash Taylor looks a lot like Katy and is holding a grammy - something her enemy didn't have. I don't think that's all, maybe some swifties will reply with more disses at her in LWYMMD (I'm kinda new in the fandom)
- On the Reputation Stadium Tour, a mini-stage would be brought onto the main stage where the dancers would dance on it. And it was made like seesaw so when she sang "I don't like your tilted stage," it would tilt. You can see this in her Reputation stadium Tour movie on Netflix. It is really worth the watch!! It was what got me into the fandom. - in the end one of her personas says "Look at that bitch.." That is what Kanye said in his song Famous where he is clearly singing about Taylor. - Reputation was made as a kind of back-lash to all the medias that had created this big reputation about her note: in her song End Game on Reputation she sings "big reputation, big reputation ooh you and me we got big reputations," You can clearly hear that the album starts out really rough and angry with songs like ...Ready for it?, I did something bad and Look what you made me do. At the end of the album it goeas back to her more usual sound with some soft songs about love like Call it what you want and New Year's day. That makes a good transition to her next album Lover, which has a much more soft and "fluffy" sound. Lover is also much more about finding true love and finding the one, and not so much about big breakups and being angry at people. Reputation made a clear line in Taylor's career, that showed where her sound shifted, and showed her more adult side, with songs about crimes and sex for example Getaway car and Dress.

FUN FACT: Taylor said that there are so many subliminal symbols and meaning around the video and that fans will even take a a decade to understand every hidden meanings. This song will not exist if Taylor wasn't attacked by haters and this video cost 12M dollars
Tilted Stage= a reference to the St. Pablo Tour for Kanye West's album, The Life of Pablo (which included the song, Famous) (Tour was abruptly cancelled due to a psychiatric problem requiring hospitalization). If you want the best video about Easter Eggs in LWYMMD, see Laura Lipman's channel for the decoding video---Taylor saw it and put part of it on the big screen during the Reputation Tour.

Ashley Ippolito (reacts by Ash) calls Taylor "The queen of not knowing what a budget is" in regard to her videos. Not sure if she said it first---AjayII says about the same thing. She's moved through the innocent romantic ones from the first country albums, to more cinematic ones. Joseph Kahn directed the ones from 1989, and Reputation ( Wildest Dreams, , Blank Space, Bad Blood, Delicate, and ...Ready for It?.). To find film credits, check the entry for the song in Wikipedia.
This video and album after her coming out of seclusion from the #taylorswiftisoverparty that was complete online bullying is such a testimony of her refusing to let others control her narrative. I feel she did some amazing soul searching during this most horrible time for her and how the world treated her. Now look at her, she chose to come back with a vengeance and refusal to be a door mat and play victim. So proud of her, I commend anyone who can pull themselves out of darkness and grow and heal ❤
Red lipstick---she was getting made up for a photo shoot back in the Speak Now album days, iirc. She really liked the look, so she made it a trademark,
the red lipstick is Taylor's signature style and she's known for having red lipsticks ever since she was 16 until now. Just like Ariana Grande's ponytail.

@@soniclyqaulan Here it says from the magazine direct quote "The faux diamonds used for this scene were actually a combination of a sequined blanket and thousands of plastic stones, as well as several pieces of antique jewelry strewn about on top."
Yesss we need full Taylor Swift album reactions! Also highly recommend her Miss Americana documentary on Netflix to get more background on her.
Oh cause shes dead"
most. iconic. music. video. ever.
An iconic video from The Queen of Not Knowing How To Have a Budget on a Music Video. :-P
I've been enjoying the way you've been sort of poking your way through her and her work. :)
It’s funny that you don’t even know which of the old Taylor’s are on the pyramid because you still are so new to this
"Why does she get so much hate?" That is the question.
Love this reaction. The budget for this was around 12 million dollars and the diamonds in the bathtub scene were real. You should react to blankspace next
react to “...ready for it?” next.. it is DOPE
The rep music videos are all so amazing
Most iconic comeback in the history 📜
There’s a theory that the Taylors in the end signifies each song from reputation. There are 15 songs in Reputation and 15 Taylors in the last scene and I think she liked the post on tumblr too!
This is the best reaction of LWYMMD, that worth a billion views specially for a non Taylor Swift fan.
And yes, she says "Don't call me [that bitch] because Kanye sang "I made that bitch famous."
When this song came out, she was basically killing her old persona bc Kanye and Kim tried to wrecked her with Kim's text receipts (and reasons).
"The old Taylor can't come to the phone right now. Why? Cuz she's dead."
Idk.
Red lipstick has become her signature!!🔥❤️
it's about time you get to know her: Miss Americana documentary on Netflix. a lot of your questions will be answered.
The mastermind behind Taylor's videos is... Taylor. 😄 she is very involved in everything and the main ideas are always hers.
Lmao "there's a jag wire"
I love how much you love this
People were so quick to judge the song, but not this amazing production
THE BEST COMEBACK OF THE CENTURY. she killed it! she embraced her reputation. ⚰️🖤 🐍
this was the ultimate and superior comeback song and music ever. the way she came back was earth shattering and made its presence known everyone
Her in The mirror are not her reflection but are moving alone
i swear your reactions to taylor vids are the best thing that ever happen to me, u are the best
She has said regarding her red lipstick someone put it on her during a magazine spread and she fell for the color and now its her signature thing now shes even referenced her red lipstick in quite a few songs
Look what you made me do. Change from all these old personas and people to a better, stronger, harder person.
I have read the comment that suggests for him to react to LWYMMD and now, I wanna salute that guy.
1 million of those views was definitely me. My (now 3 year old) child loved this son. It was the only way to get him to calm down during car rides.
please react to "ready for it?" o "you need to calm down" from Taylor
In this song every scene and line means something, basically Taylor's throwing shade on Kanye, Kim, Katy and the media.
Katy wym as in Katy perry or someone else and if u could explain it or send an article link
@@lauragintaute4587 ok tysm tho I'm new too
This music video will be my favorite music video I’ve ever seen. It’s literally iconic.
React to blank space music video or wildest dreams music video
This is one of the iconic comeback in history of music
- On the Reputation Stadium Tour, a mini-stage would be brought onto the main stage where the dancers would dance on it. And it was made like seesaw so when she sang "I don't like your tilted stage," it would tilt. You can see this in her Reputation stadium Tour movie on Netflix. It is really worth the watch!! It was what got me into the fandom.
- in the end one of her personas says "Look at that bitch.." That is what Kanye said in his song Famous where he is clearly singing about Taylor.
- Reputation was made as a kind of back-lash to all the medias that had created this big reputation about her note: in her song End Game on Reputation she sings "big reputation, big reputation ooh you and me we got big reputations,"
You can clearly hear that the album starts out really rough and angry with songs like ...Ready for it?, I did something bad and Look what you made me do.
"SHES A GOD DUDE" i love it omg
Ready for it. . . NEXT PLEASE
Taylor gets hate because her songs aren’t as cryptic and she doesn’t try very hard to hide who the songs are about. People just hate her honesty 😂
As a SWIFTIE, i Loveeeer seeing this music video blow people's brains out. Lwymmd had the highest budget for an mv ever at 10 MILLION DOLLARS!!!!!. And it held the record for most views in the first 24 hours for quite some time.
I‘ll NEVER get tired of reactions to LWYMMD bc the iconicness jumps out so hard
Look what you made me do isn't my favorite Taylor swift song *at all*, but the video is perfection, and watching you react to it made my day :D
Taylor Swift's favourite colour is red, she mentions red alot in her songs, has an album named RED, and so on
I love how hyped you got! I still remember the night this song came out and what a crazy comeback it was!
I don’t know if I love you or Taylor more. Omg this reaction is literally everything. I can’t stop rewatching 🤭😂
budget for this MV - 12 million dollars. Don't get shocked... she's TAYLOR SWIFT :)
REACT TO OUT OF THE WOODS MV. I think it’s her best one she has ever created
Watching this guy become a swiftie is my favorite pastime
"Why she has so much hate?" same bro same😖
I love how he doesn’t even comment that she is literally in a bath of diamonds and jewels (and the $1)
She had a behind the scenes of this video where she shows all the costumes and other stuff it's really interesting!
this mv is so iconic that u need to watch it again and again for u to catch some easter eggs. it's not just a normal mv, it has a lot of lowkey shades and response about her dramas before.
Loooved this reaction 😂😂
That hight pitched voice throughout said a lot!
Best comeback ever. Iconic!
SOOOOOO ICONIC!!!! i’ll never get over this
to me, there is NO OTHER music video that ive seen that tops the part in this one where she is standing on top of her old versions of herself
AMAZING REACTION!!! this video is FULL of references! A tip to understand is seeing "look what you made me do decode" 💞 it would be amazing see your reaction understanding the easter eggs !!!!!!!!!!
I rhink to date, this is the MOST EXPENSIVE music video ever made. It cost like 15 million dollars
OCTOBER!!!! I watch 1 Halloween movie every day in October so I’m with you on that Hocus Pocus watch💀👻
Also, you’re reaction is perfect. I still lose my mind watching it years later. ICONIC
I’m obsessed with Taylor swift as well
And I’m obsessed with you and your reactions
Love Taylor Swift❤❤
this guy just makes me happy😭😭😭😭
One of the most iconic moments in history
Ashley Ippolito (reacts by Ash) calls Taylor "The queen of not knowing what a budget is" in regard to her videos. Not sure if she said it first---AjayII says about the same thing. She's moved through the innocent romantic ones from the first country albums, to more cinematic ones. Joseph Kahn directed the ones from 1989, and Reputation ( Wildest Dreams, , Blank Space, Bad Blood, Delicate, and ...Ready for It?.). To find film credits, check the entry for the song in Wikipedia.
take a shot everytime he says "like"
Your genuine excitement and appreciation is so adorable and so nice to see!!! Keep it up my dude!
IT means that she is a New Taylor, more poweful.
"Out of the woods" is her best music video for me you should react to it. it's also about harry styles and there's a lot of hints in the video 😄
Heiii there are lot of Easter eggs that are yet to be figured out.... If you want to know some of them watch "Look What you made me do Decode" video by Lauren Liteman... would love to see your reaction....
She went through sooooo many shits in 2016, and she disappear for almost one year.
One day in 2017 she suddenly drop this new song, which blew up the whole internet
