Ugh! I hope your home repairs wrap up quickly without any more surprises. I really thought when you started talking about putting sheets in the wash that you were going to say the washer leaked all over the floor! Whew! Glad I was wrong! We have a bathroom in need of replacing floor and all, but we will tackle that after the new year since it’s just the two of us in the house. Also, I’m looking out the window at our fig tree and the leaves are starting to turn yellow. Frost is expected tonight so today I’ll bring in the plants that will need to winter inside. Happy Fall!
Oh, the joys of homeownership- as my father-in-law would say! We were in a similar situation in 2022 when the dishwasher leaked the entire time we were on vacation. We had to do the giant fans and big plastic zipper doors on the kitchen. We still got to sleep in our beds during the 2 months of reno, but had to turn the dining room into a make shift kitchen. Also, the downside of an 1800s home with additions is that the kitchen linked our bedroom and bath the main living area and kids' rooms, so we had to go outside and around for everything! I do not miss that or envy you right now (but maybe when your gorgeous new bath and bedroom are finished I will)!
I can relate to the fans and zipper doors. We've had both. I was thinking just the other day that I'm thankful that my kitchen is available. The mental image of you having to go outside to get to everything is pretty funny (though probably not at the time). It reminds me of Green Acres. They said they will finish on Wednesday, 11/6. We'll see.

I'm so glad the washer didn't leak! I'm not sure I could stand another water leak. Happy Fall to you too, Sue!
