  • This video demonstration will show you how to create a dripping goo or candle wax sort of effect which slides down an object and solidifies with a bulbous end thinning behind it using 3DS Max, Particle Flow, and Blobmesh.
Had learned this years ago and couldn't remember where I picked up the ideas contained in the step by step video I made for my own students.
was recently reminded that the idea originally came out of a shared file and broken down from www.visualart.be.

Awesome video, but what was your render setting and your material editor setting?

very good tutorial. i never had tried to set a pflow with only a gravity force and no speed. i feel a bit stupid ^^

Hi, I'm very new to Realflow but absolutely loving it so far. I have a very beginner question. I think I messed up my ratios and measurements when I was converting from max to realflow and all of my simulations since are huge amounts of particles for simple scenes.
what system unit setup is default or proper in 3d max to work exporting to realflow?
    Thanks.

How did you make that material at the beginning clip?

  • @craigdale5586

I always thought that 'variation' was the total variation. So a variation of 30% means it can be up to 15% bigger or 15% smaller, for a total of +/- 30.
But you said a setting of 30% means it can be 30% either way.
    Which one is it?
The Autodesk help pages don't seem to explain that part.

    Blobmesh delays rendering times...

+Elçin Səmədov yeah, blobmesh pretty much delays everything in every way. It's really quite terrible. I use Frost for most work outside tutorials, I only use blobmesh in tutorials because my students and a lot of folks learning from scratch don't have access to a better meta ball software, so I keep these videos to the 3DS standard package.
