Yay more mindless searching in the nether. It was so fun searching for hours for a stronghold and now for a bastion. Woo
Or you can use chunkbase and put in your version and seed and it shows where structures spawn. As long as you don't over use it it's not cheating in my opinion
@@BEDROCKSAVIORor you could just use cheats and spawn in the upgrade template. Or you could just go into creative and get the template. Using an outside website to find a goddamn structure in my world should not be necessary, they’re ruining this game
I realize how lucky I was, I searched through maybe 3 bastions before I finally found the template, but reading the comments I see it's been total agony for most people

I really dislike this change, netherite isn’t really a good upgrade and it’s not worth the grind. Not only did they make netherite pointless after nerfing its knockback resistance but they also want you to look for a bastion to upgrade. This doesn’t make the game harder but rather a pain in the ass just to get a slight buff that has absolutely nothing special
Ik, like, upgrading a 1 diamond shovel costs 7 diamonds for a little more durability? Just because netherite is supposed to be “exclusive”

I'm pretty conflicted on this change. Like sure, Netherite is the best armor in the game, but is it really worth the hassle? What does it give you, some, idk, knockback resistance? It can't be burned in lava? When do you need that? And _7_ diamonds for one extra smithing template? Sure at some point diamonds may not be the rarest thing on your world but cmon, that's a lot. And my biggest concern is, what about old worlds? As far as I'm aware, only new Bastions will have the smithing templates so how far would you have to go to get some? If they were going to do this, I think they should've done it with 1.16 or not at all. Buffing Netherite also would've been an interesting idea. Maybe give it built in fire protection, that stacks with normal fire protection and isn't mutually exclusive with other protection enchantments
They don't care, they expect people to make a new world every update. Plus they don't listen to feedback so complaining about this does nothing. I actively hate mojang at times ngl.

It definitely isn’t worth 7 diamonds in any case. Take a diamond picaxe and ask yourself if it is worth 2+ of those picaxes in diamonds just to upgrade the current one to netherite

Just started getting netherite for the first Time and of course it’s when it’s way harder to actually upgrade…
I really hope someone makes a mod that removes upgrade kits because the armor trimming was my favorite part about the update.

The smithing template feels too video-gamey (Ironic, I know), but I feel like Minecraft has done a good job of straying away from things that take you out of the game. They could've designed it in any other way, but they chose A BIG BLUE ARROW THAT YOU CAN DUPLICATE WITH 7 DIAMONDS? No hate, but everything in Minecraft seems (somewhat) logical EXCEPT this. Feel free to comment suggestions in the replies, I just really don't understand.
It is, maybe they can make a craft recipe that make an empty template, THEN use some expensive materials to duplicate it, maybe quartz or deep-stone(i forgot the name), OR make a new crafting board to specifically duplicate it. Those templates were meant to be rare, then might as well, make the progress of duplicating it more special

with the caves and cliffs update, diamonds have never been easier to find. grab a fortune 3 pickaxe and go crazy. i like that it’s harder because in a world, you’re eventually going to get enough items for full netherite anyways. finding the template forces you to explore the nether with the trade off of dying. increased chance of dying < best armor in the game
Idk I wanted it ever since they stayed away from that and get useless mobs

Initially my heart sank because I'm new to Minecraft and only just started reconoitering the Nether. I was however delighted when you demonstrated that templates could be crafted from templates. I'm actually looking forward to the challenge. Also, 1.20 drops in just a few days and I'm so looking forward to cherry and archeology.
Because I'm lazy, I upgraded my stuff to netherite just before the 1.20 update. Getting that netherite template is gonna be hard. I don't want to waste diamonds to duplicate a netherite template so I just upgraded them as early as now.
I didnt knew and did the update one day before trying to upgrade my armour :(

I’m lucky I upgraded all my stuff prior. My friend on my world wanted to wait and now we have to go find a bastion to get him his. It’s irritating
@@Antoniobrady Unfortunately, the world where I have my full netherite gear was wiped out so I had to start from scratch. I'm not jn a hurry though to get full netherite. Just the essentials at first.

All these controversial features I ignore due to it seeming like people just complain
I normally play with cheats enabled, so what I plan on doing is collecting enough resources to make, say, a netherite helmet, then use /give to get the helmet and throw the previously mentioned resources at a cactus so not to dupe my items.
Why not give template? It bypasses getting rid of part and instead eases you into the update. Now you have a template you can try to dupe now.

Glad I got the achievement before the update. Now I don't have to suffer getting full netherite again.

I literally used my only upgrade seconds before you mentioned how to craft more from 1 and now I have to go back to the nether

It already was annoying to try and find ancient debris, now we also have to do this? And for what an extra point of damage or extra durability? It's literally not worth it anymore. I'll just stick to diamond.
So true. If they buffed it slightly more it could be worth it. But if you have mending it's legit not worth it at all, unless you pvp

They should've made the netherite upgrade craftable with netherite ingots or a block. I think they made it too hard to get and probably unfair in mutliplayer since one person could just get all the upgrades nearby and be the only person with netherite gear

I always thought the way to get armour and gear in minecraft was repetitive with mining at a certain Y level until you get what you want. I like the new more difficult spin off for it as it forces people to be more adventurous and the resources needed to find an abundance of bastions (elytra) and resources to craft the Upgrade are purely for players in late game. Sure the gear could be buffed, but it would be hard to buff it without making it overpowered especially with enchantments.

In my last legit survival world it took me a mere week to get fully enchanted Netherite Armour so I’m honestly really glad that they’re making it harder. I love grinding for things in Minecraft so this is easily one of my favourite new changes!
I don’t. I’m extremely busy in real life and I got many things like school, my friends, work, responsibilities. So I definitely do not have the time to be grinding that long.

Yeah maybe or add gold on the Netherite upgrade template instead of diamond because piglin use gold in the nether and I like to see piglin trade for a netherite upgrade template instead because piglin trade stuff with gold I got idea I can make it in Minecraft
once u get fortune 3 u wont be having any issues of gettin 7 diamonds for 1 netherite upgrade
Guess I’m grinding for the next few days to get as much netherite gear as I can before the update comes.
I wish that they would make the Smithing Template and other new items craftable. It would fix the issue of having to make a new world every update. I have this issue with Terraria as well, but to a lesser degree.
Though, I'm fine if it is really hard to craft. I like this change, it makes Netherite more of an end-goal instead of the stuff you're supposed to use against the Ender Dragon.
Just don't explore and raid them when you world runs or if space or corrupts

I really like this new way to upgrade to netherite, it makes it much harder and much more fun cause it takes a while longer to get and it better than just mining a few debris and gold cause now bastions are better
Personally, I disagree. acquiring netherite is difficult enough for the typical player already. The problem with the new method of upgrading is that players will prepare for it by upgrading their gear now, and when users deliberately try to avoid dealing with the system, it is never a good indication. Also, I believe players will see this as an inconvenience rather than an enjoyable challenge, I do agree it makes bastions better though
The normal players never get netherite in their worlds easly anyway, becaus of various reasons, doesnt matter how hard mobs or game or enviourement is, its a f@cking sandbox game mainly, I want people to understand that.
And no, its not fun or engaging trying to find debris for half an our straight to get an ingot, same as how its not fun facing mobs that 2 hit you in a structure with millions of holes around, yes, players can deal with it, but its not hard, its annoying so, I DISAGREE
I don't think it's worth it at that point Netherite doesn't even really add much benefit

@@AbimayoXD yeah I always treated netherrite as the most minor of upgrades over diamonds as there are only a few minor benefits. With the extra effort I don't think it's really worth it. The upgrade from iron to diamond is significant and takes far less effort than going from diamond to netherrite in this new update.
At first, I was fairly frustrated, but now I know that you can duplicate them, I guess that’s OK

Honestly, the one redeeming feature here is Bannered Sheilds. Tricked out armor is nice too, but... We finally get the sheild update. :)

@@voidartist8293 Finally I found someone I agree with, like to this day, Mojang made such a stupid nerf to Netherite, it doesn't even make sense, your better of just using Diamonds since is far safer and easier to get, and the way The Nether was made nowadays is overall just dangerous and tiring to explore.

Making sticks directly from bamboo is more efficient than making them out of bamboo planks. Therefore, using bamboo planks to make sticks is kinda like using jukeboxes for furnace fuel.
You need two bamboo planks to make 4 sticks, you get two bamboo planks from a bamboo block and you get that bamboo block from 9 bamboo. Therefore, the ratio is 9/4. When making sticks directly out of bamboo, you use two bambol to make one stick. Therefore, the ratio is 2/1.

I wish you would think for a second with the logic of wearing gold armor into a bastion... are you just not expecting to have to battle one of the brutes? Bc you're basically 100% guaranteed to battle one of them, in which case everything will be hostile, so why not just wear diamond? Literally makes no sense

How common is it for netherite to spawn at level y=64 and above?
It’s pretty rare, especially since it has to be buried so you won’t find any running around the nether. I usually look for it around y=16

The fact you can duplicate this item makes it absolutely useless, almost any late game player that can afford netherite has an abundance of diamonds, since you can literally get a full set, and all tools just from trading with villagers, once you have one, you’re basically done and no longer need to explore for more, making getting full netherite barely harder to get than it is now. Plus, from a lore standpoint, the item hardly makes sense, why does a random piece of neatherack somehow assist in turning diamond to netherite? If Mojang wanted this to be a final step in getting the best armor in the game, they could have made the duplication recipe much harder to obtain, like replacing the neatherack with a nether star.

as a grindy player, i like this change, as netherite was way too easy to get. this is absolute hell for the casual player who just wants to have fun and not spend hours on the game for a small armour boost

I hate this change so much, grinding for seven more diamonds to upgrade one tool (SLIGHTLY, mind you) is an extra hour of grinding for not a lot of payoff. And grinding’s never fun anyway. Adding a way to farm diamonds wouldn’t help either because that would require making a farm.
Players who just like the classic gameplay loop of building whatever they want whenever they want no longer have the luxury of at least having the highest tier of tools. I’ve never built any sort of farm beyond the basic “hoe dirt and grow plants” kind, never enchanted any tools beyond whatever I could get with a zero-bookshelf enchanting table because it was more work than it was worth to get better stuff. And now I’m expected to have seven more diamonds per tool than before? Huh? And that’s the *easy* method? Excuse me?

It’s on a different level of scale, but it’s the same principle. You’re telling me not to do a thing I don’t want to do, which is grinding for netherite upgrades. I don’t do the work, I don’t get the reward.
All I want is for the video game to not require a ton of grinding in order to progress. After I’m done working for the day I have a bit of free time to do fun things. I want to actually have fun in that free time. Minecraft is fun. Starting a new world and going through all the steps to build up good gear is fun, there’s noticeable progression all the way through, when I’ve got all my gear fully upgraded I fight the dragon and stop playing Minecraft for a while until the mood strikes me again. Well, I’m being told that I can’t play the way I like to anymore, unless I incorporate mining dozens of extra diamonds into that.
It’s not the end of the world. I will not die. I’m not really all that upset about the change itself, to tell you the truth. I just am upset that an aspect of the game is becoming actively more grindy and less fun, intentionally, due to an update. Updates are supposed to *reduce* frustration and add fun.
I am allowed to hate this change, and simply choosing not to grind for netherite (which I won’t, don’t you worry) doesn’t solve the fact that I hate this change, because effectively this update removed Netherite from the game for me.

Unfortunately I still see a lot of people disagreeing with the netherite change here in the comments, here are my two cents:

Netherite is a luxury, and should be treated that way; it isnt needed. You can go your whole playthrough only using diamond equipment without much difference.
The durability difference between diamond, and netherite tools can easily be negated! by either: using mending, or even villager trading for replacement diamond tools. (even casual players can get mending easily with a single villager and lectern)
If you decide to bute the bullet and get netherite, you are spending time for the luxury of extra durability and slight improvements. That is your choice if its worth it
Unfortunatelyyyy its a bit grindy, but thats the price for better equipment than what used to be the best (diamonds)
Overall, i think it makes netherite more balanced! not *too* easy to get for what it does for you, but still feeling like its worth it if you really want to minmax :)
