I love Karen’s ugly quilt! It came out great and was a good way to use up some odd fat quarters of fabrics I loved. Mixed with some complementary colors it’s lovely. I saw Di’s piecing too. That goes back to the waste nothing era. Brilliant! Can hardly wait to see the confetti border video. Headed there now. Thank you for sharing these with us.

I heard of those last 2 techniques being called poverty piecing. Like you said… nobody is going to notice a little extra seam. Thanks for sharing these ideas!

I had 2 bins of Christmas fabrics that I made over 8 "Ugly" Christmas quilts for all of my Christmas presents when the pandemic started. I still have 1 bin left, but it used up a lot of fabric!

Quilting hides most of those piecing issues. I have done it when I've almost run out of fabric - usually using secondhand sources when I really need to have just a little bit more. I go to my trash can and pull out all the little things I need and make some made fabric from those small pieces and then cut that last 2.5" square or whatever it is.

Good video. What is the quilt behind you? Looks like a good scrap quilt. ❤

I made that quilt years ago. It is all Kaffe Fassett fabric. I didn't write up the pattern but maybe soon. It could be a scrap quilt but in my case it was not.

What is the name/pattern of the log cabin style quilt in the background of your video? Please put the name of the pattern in the description or announce it during the video. Your videos usually feature a quilt in the background but you don't always tell the viewers the name of the quilt pattern.
