    I struggled with the rear suspension on a different bike. The factory rear shock behaved like a brick. The bike rode like a hard tail. I had to lighten it too. Keep in mind for the rear shock, pre-load is normally adjusted for about 30 percent of compression when you sit on it. I would say your rear suspension is set softer than that. This would make it appropriate for street use, but for off road you are at risk of bottoming out. If you are standing and peddling with it that soft, the whole bike will bounce with each stroke.

      I think my problem with all the stock suspension is I'm too light. At 150(after a stout meal with stuff in my pockets), I don't seem to be able to take advantage of the stiff spring they're putting in. When I put my weighted backpack on adding 30 lbs to me, the springs start to move a little better, that includes the front end which used to bottom out. I think they're gearing these towards much heavier riders than myself.
