The Cult are criminally underrated.
Love! your right, maybe not for everybody.
damien's comment cant be overstated
@MarkRichter-j2l The guitar playing is very similar to " December " by " The Waterboys " which was recorded before this song.
I can't believe this ABOUT 40 YEARS OLD
me too
Lucky now is to be old!
@@azelionegraojr7707 IKR?!!! 😆
Time flies, brother
This song was HUGE in the 80's dance clubs. You are right on there.
I was in Daytona Beach and when this song came on during spring break, everyone hit the dance floor. Girls would just grab guys to dance with. Easy to dance to as well. Sealed quite a few deals with this song.
Love removal machine should be your next Cult Song
Being 14 in 1985 was great.
Indeed it was 🙂Peak music years imo.
Being 16 that year was pretty good, too.
I was also 14. Great times.
Was 13. Yup.
I was right there with ya! '71 was a good year!
If Jim Morrison had a kid with Captain Jack Sparrow it would be Ian Astbury.
He did sing a few songs with the remaining Doors members a few years back !
Riders on the storm , Break on through and Roadhouse Blues only ones I can remember .
One of my favourite bands, I love The Cult and everything they've done. This song is a banger! Enjoying your content and reactions guys ❤
Official video has 76 million views, Howard stern asked the cult to sing this live for him in 2024, singers voice is still as strong!
Turn it up!
I always turn the cult up love Ian voice and dance moves❤
In the 80's, during this period, they were considered "ALTERNATIVE ROCK"
A local nightclub had a 'rock night' on a Thursday, circa 1988/90, and The Cult were played all the time alonmg with things like The Mission and all kinds of heavy to hair metal. Some Flowers Bitter in the pub, then on to the club for some music and Newcastle Brown Ale.
Good Times, I missed some Fridays at school because of that place. :D
This is the song that made me love The Cult.
Ironically, over the years, I’ve never heard this version of the song.
Haha me neither. Must have been one of the 12-in dance remixes. I dig it
Same, WAY longer.
First time it appeared on MTV went right out and bought the cassette. Ian, fabulous voice.
Ian Astbury is ONE OF THE BEST, MOST CHARISMATIC "FRONT MEN" of all time, like Robert Plant, John Lennon, Layne Staley and Paul Rodgers
If you believe that I'd think you would spell his name correctly.
@@Ilikeryche😂
Nice collection of gents! Agree. Especially Paul. 😊
@@ryanr5319 Paul Rodgers is most definitely "THE VOICE"
@@Ilikeryche I believe it, "SCUSE ME!!!"
“The heads that turn
Make my back burn
Oh, the heads that turn
Make my back…
Make my back burn”
The Cult is 🔥!
Wrong lyrics.
@@m.b-ee8815 nope, they are right
Great band ever since they came on the seen, Love all there music.
Still sounds great today, takes me back 🙂 Drums the very talented Mark Brzezicki also drummer of another great band Big Country.
This song was always hitting in the dance clubs. Everyone got out on the dance floor when it came on.
Ian Astbury was an incredible front man
As a 17 yr old in 1985, this song was played many many many times. Such a classic song from a classic band.
Front man, guitars, drums. Great power. What more do you need.
SO GREAT in a CLUB: SUPER LOUD!!! Thanks, Ya'll!!! Brought back some GREAT MEMORIES!!
Saw The Cult in January of 1987 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England as an undergrad studying abroad. Have seen them three times since then. One of my favorite bands from the 80s. This is an absolute banger. Danced to it many times in the clubs. Goth/dark wave with the dark garb and New Romantic with the white/burgundy garb.
Always been a banger!
The "RAIN" video is AWESOME, great song too
Just so you know, this is the extended version. Not that it's a bad thing, it's essentially the same with a longer intro/outro. I love it. They're a great band. The lead singer also sang/toured with the Doors. This song is back in their Goth Rock days. They went more hard rock after. Underrated band in many people's opinions, kinda got overshadowed by grunge hitting big, then record label disputes and alcoholism for a stretch. At one point Guns 'n Roses opened for them. (Matt Sorum has also drummed for both bands.)
Best song for a sun roof open, windows down, highway summer ride in the car!
he's a Gypsy Pirate Witch Boy.
That boy ?
Ian Astbury although born in Cheshire in the U.K., grew up in Hamilton, Ontario. He became fascinated with the culture of various indigenous tribes in the area. That fascination comes through in a lot of the music.
The Cult was never labeled as deep with lyrics but it was their dance beat that made them cool.
The Cult has way better songs than this in my opinion. Like , Love Removal Machine, King Contrary Man, The Phoenix and even Hollow Man. More too.
@Ilikeryche love removal machine is one I agree with. All the other songs you mentioned I've never heard of. Perhaps that's why they aren't Bon Jovi. Or Metallica. The Cult had 3 great songs and that's it. I like their beats, but only a true fan would love a 4th song.
@@bretttodd6470 It's good that they're not Bon Jovi. They have lots of great songs unless you only consider what gets played on the radio as a great song. Maybe you like songs only because they are popular.
@Ilikeryche you got me there. I never delved into their songs beyond radio. I will give a listen to the ones you mentioned though bc I did enjoy their radio play. I love music so I will give it a listen.
@@bretttodd6470 It's a shame but so much great music never gets on the radio. I hope you enjoy some of what you hear.
The guy kind of reminds me of Steven Tyler.
Lyrics is about drugs. One of my best songs ever! I've seen live in concert in Bilbao, Spain! I LOVE IT!
Ian says it is about sex ….
Man …they were good live. No autotune and their sound was clear and as good as the studio album…
A dangerous song to listen to while driving your son's Subaru WRX. Mother got stopped by a motorcycle officer. How could I explain that the song makes me feel like driving the curvy road very fast? I didn't explain. I was polite and took the warning. I was embarrassed at the time but now is a very funny story.
Great band! I enjoyed playing this live for many years. 80's memories...❤
"The heads that turn make my back burn"
Underrated band with a unique sound
Also, Ian astbury has more talent and charisma in one of his scarves then 95% of whoever is at the top of the Spotify charts these days
The singer is a mix of Jim Morrison and Steven Tyler
I always loved his voice. Deep and rich, not high pitch falsetto.
They would play this at clubs when everyone was good and tuned up. Dance floor was crazy!
Very underrated late 80s / early 90s band.
I was never a fan, but my sister adored them. But being in an alternative/goth/rock mindset, it's friggin awesome. We were so young😊. Wonderful to see a reaction to this.
Great song, great song, and one Great band !!!
I LOVE the Cult!!
I just saw them 9/27! They sound so good! He still has a great voice and a ton of energy!
I don't always listen to The Cult, but when I do, so do my neighbours...
In the UK in 85 this was filling every dancefloor goths were everywhere myself included
"She" is a very enticing drug that offers "sanctuary"
They progressed into a full on rock band after this... their " Electric " album is pure rock n roll fire 🔥 😍 👌
Ian Ashbury brings a spiritual flavor to his music whether it be Native American or Eastern philosophy. Bodhisattva Baby 🙏
If we all had gypsy eyes. We would understand others cries.
🔥🔥 1980s 🔥🔥
The Sonic Temple album is fire! And so Electric!
This song has a permanent home on any playlist I ever create!!
The hard guitar chords remind me of early U2....very driving....very catchy......
This is one of those tunes you absolutely have to play on maximum volume 👌
FIREWOMAN!!! PLEASE 🙏
Heard this song for the very first time in a New Wave club back in '85. I was 17 at the time and still in high school. And yes, I was already hitting the clubs while still in high school! When I heard this and saw the video, since the club was actually a "videotheque", I was immediately blown away! To this day it's still one of my favorite songs not only of the 80s, but ever! The Cult fell under the umbrella of New Wave. It was the guitar driven kind, not the synth driven type, and they were loved by the Goth crowd. They 80s were something else! I guess we really were "the lucky ones"!
That's one awesome guitar riff!!💥💥🤘🤘🎸🎸 Looks like this is the long version of the song. Awesome!!
🤘🤘
Like the band and their music or not, Ian had one very distinctive voice.
This song brings great power
Knowing that a woman has your back…priceless
💯♥️🇦🇺
Billy Duffy , just a great guitar sound
EPIC !!! ....🎵🎸👍👍
An 80s classic but in the early 90s they played this at the clubs alot, got the place bouncin, fun times going out in the 80s and 90s
Luv'd Luv'd the Cult!! Huge Band, Great Night Club Clubbing Band, Dance Floor was alway Full when this song came on!!
Fire Woman is a must.
Ian is part Indian ( Native American ) and often brought attention to it.
The missing link between Adam and the Ants and Sisters of Mercy. Brilliant song, thanks!
The best drop ever
I LOVE THE CULT ❤❤🤘🤘🔥
I traveled from Newcastle to see them in 86 at ibrox park, excellent live band, they were on with simple minds...
This is like, an extended version! Never heard it before! 👍
Love the Cult!! They're one of my favorite bands. I'm so used to the shorter version of this video, was fun to see this one. They're still out touring, have never stopped. I saw them twice in the 90s, they really kick ass. Ian still has a great voice now, after all these years!
I used to sing this back when I was playing in bands, in the 80s and 90s. With regard your inability to discern the lyrics, I originally used to sing "An intensive sun, makes my back burn" before finding out much later that the real lyric is "The heads that turn, make my back burn!" [face palm]
The lead singer did played with the doors
An awesome band. Saw them 3 times and they killed it every time. This is a great song but much better live. You should do Love Removal Machine next, another banger from a band with many of them. Enjoy! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶🔥
Love Removal Machine & Wild Flower are my jams ✌💖☮
Amazing band! Seeing them the 23rd in Seattle.
Love this band, will see them next month at the City Hall Newcastle :)
They were a British band
“Love Removal Machine” is my favorite ❤
Love the cult!
You gotta do Love Removal Machine. It's a great song and a hit by them. And I am convinced it's about a certain female body part.
Love Removal Machine!!
I was living in Vancouver at this time. Big song in the clubs.
Such a great song!
You have to do “fire woman” got. These guys next!!!
They already reacted to that one. Search the channel because that's a good reaction!
The cult is a fantastic band. Their album Sonic Temple & Love is my favourite. "American Horse, Fire Woman, and Revolution are awesome songs. I can listen to their albums for hours. Can't believe you can't hear or understand the lyrics. Maybe it's your headphones but the vocals, guitar, bass and drums sound all equal to me.
I love this song, so much fun to play on my bass. Every time I play it, I feel like a rock star. 🤩
This was the song where we used to get it all out on the dance floor, all moves aloud, jumping mendarory and once in awhile having a wall as a dance partner. A real purge for the mind.
The lp love is fantastic, brother wolf sister moon haunting.
Go listen to Howard Stern version. It’s easy to Google lyrics nowadays. As a child the lead singer immigrated to Canada and was exposed to many First Nations peoples which influenced his attire on & off stage.
Great band and song. Singer Ian Astbury briefly toured with Manzarek and Krieger to perform Doors songs.
I saw them! It was great!!
@@NBKenC Wow! Excellent.
The Cult was part of an era of late 70's - early 90's that was part of some of the best music ever. A lot memories. Now I'm thinking of Nitzer Ebb.
Ian and Billy are still killing it live to this day!
You should just do their whole first album electric. Every song is awesome
The beginning silhouette reminds me of the movie "JEEPERS CREEPERS"😅lol
Billy Duffy is an underrated guitarist. I saw them live in 1986. Really great show.
The guitar 🎸 player BILLY DUFFY, alot of pictures of him resemble CHARLIE SHEEN, or CHARLIE SHEEN RESEMBLES HIM 😊
Fire Woman and Love Removal Machine are really good songs to consider next!
