I am from Ohio and Knobels is one of the BEST family amusement parks. The family is so gracious to the park visitors. My home park is Cedar Point. I love Kennywood, Kings Island, but Knoebels has a very special place in my heart. The Phoenix is a first-grade coaster.
I'd say that was the best vlog of the trip. Relaxed, with good weather. No health issues. Both of you seemed well rested and in good spirits. The park was beautiful, and incredibly, had no disappointing rides. There were loads of laughs, and multiple 'blimeys'. Add the historical elements, and even a brief goat reference, and this episode has it all. I must say, the ring catch feature on the carousel is not unique, but increasingly rare. Cheers!
I AGREE, AND I BELIEVE IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH BRET...HE JUST RUBS ME THE WRONG WAY, AND I KNOW HE DOES ALEX, JUST WITHIN THE FIRST PARK AND FIRST HOUR BRET POPPED UP, AND EVEN SHAUN SENSED THEIR TENSION!
I'm really not sure how much to ascribe to Bret, especially since I don't know any of these people personally. Consider that Shawn was sick and Alex crippled before the trip even started. The schedule was brutal, and combined with their unique 'diets' it's frankly a miracle everything went as smoothly as it did. I'm still amazed they weren't robbed at gunpoint in front of the Whitehouse, but that's me.
Phil Hunter is the Whitehouse a notoriously dodgy area? I don’t know much about the states but would’ve thought it’s a nice area and just full of tourists hahaha
From what I can see there is no tension between any of them and Bret. Alex was even saying on his last Instagram live that he is going to Florida to see Bret as he lives there. And anyway I liked the combination of the 3 of them, Bret is a great addition to the channel.
something to note, when knoebels says built in house for the flying turns and twister coasters they don't just mean designed and assembled. the knoebels got their start from and still operate a large lumber yard near the park. all of the wood used in the construction of the twister and the flying turns came from their own yard and has also been used to repair other rides brought into the park including the phoenix and the grand carousel. they have also maintained a goal of adding at least one new ride every year and the only time i can think of in my years of going that they didn't have one was 2007 with the flying turns
Just wanted to let you guys know that Knoebels is my local amusement park but I was so young my first trip that I can't really remember it, so watching you experience it for the first time was really rewarding. Glad you enjoyed it, and I hope you also sampled some of the food!
40:35 it was relocated from the Jersey shore. Specifically, Wildwood, new jersey where it was known as the Golden Nugget. Check out the POV from the original location it is on RUclips.
I think it's just so lovely how passionate you are about something so overlooked. These wonderful simple joys we have as humans, we should be getting out there and having fun when we can, too much of life is serious and hard work. We deserve fun and freedom. Good on you dude, thanks for what you do xxxxx
This reminds me so much of the way Silver Dollar City USED to be when I was a kid... no entry free, pay to ride or buy a ride ticket, that was punched... so you could buy five, ten or twenty rides..... and was family owned and run.... not a big corporation ----- so glad you brought us here!
...im so happy you got to ride our classic flying wooden coaster. I appreciate your respect for the craftmanship. Just imagine throughout the years the building and all the lumber so carefully erected as if barrel riding wood be something of praise.
This and Hershey are my hometown parks. I haven't been there in years so the mine coaster and a few other rides are new to me. I went to Knoebels every summer since I can remember. Thank you for showcasing this lovely park. It brought back so many happy memories.
Doing some re-watching today and forgot how much I love this park! You can ride everything you want and NO corporate sponsorships or advertising ... great job Shawn and Alex!
I love knoebels so much I work here! Awesome rides, food, and attractions!!!! Best park i have been too!!!! Free entrance , free parking, bring ur pet in park and dogs can even ride the train!!!! Can bring ur own food and free picnic tables to rent!!!!
What a gem of a park. So great to see special parks like this still around. There once was a little park in Canada called Boblo, which was on an island you had to take an old magnificent ferry to get to. It was an old park with a lot of history. Henry Ford commissioned a beautiful dance hall there. Us Detroiters use to think of it as our Coney Island. It closed in 1993 but I’d like to imagine it turning into something nice like Knoebels if it had been in the right hands. Sad, I’m sure you two would have enjoyed it!
A lot of the cabins you see are lodging you can rent for vacation and the idea of the carousel is to get the one brass ring and that gets you a free ride.
@@f1fan112 Yes , I've been telling a lot of people on twitter they should put one underneath the Skyway ride down the hill . It always reminds me of the Virginia Reel when I look at the pathway .

Hi shawn and Alex what a beautiful park so homely and just what i imagine a traditional american style amusement park to be like . You have done so well this trip so nice to see you relaxed and taking it all in . Bonus on ride Pov excellent brilliant vlog absolutely loved it thanks for sharing it with us love to you both xxxxxx
The black diamond was golden nugget at hunts pier in wildwood nj .. my first ever dark ride and the reason I fell in love with dark rides. It was a wild west theme when it was at hunts pier wildwood NJ. I grew up near Philadelphia. Home park was Hershey dorney knobels and all moreys peirs in wildwood. Have such fond memories of knobles. Now In in tampa by Bush gardens ! Enjoy all your vlogs and following your travels on fb.
Loved this, especially because you gave a shout out for Charlotte. Watching and listening to you two on that twisty-spinny-cranky one near the end put a huge smile on my face. Thank you both! 👏💟
Never heard of this place. Is like a coaster museum! Is cool they kept it to be like stepping back in time. That's where that old expression came from with the carousel/merry-go-round... they would try and grab the brass ring. Something about grabbing the ring when it comes at you. Would like to see it. Nice!
Knoebels is one of my favorite parks! The food is awesome! Much of it prepared by older women who could be your aunt or grandmother! Great classic rides all around. It is almost a museum of great rides, either new recreations or actual historic examples! The ski lift is a nice distraction like you can find at Lake Compounce. One of the best carousel eperiences with actual brass/steel rings to collect and toss! Santa Cruz beach boardwalk is another great example of a carousel with rings to collect and toss. The Twister is closely modeled after the Mister Twister that used to be at Elitch Gardens in Denver.
The mine train dark ride is supposedly based off of the events of Centralia Mines in Pennsylvania. It’s still burning 50 years later and when you pass through the town you can still smell it.
This vlog is amazing, and really showcases the importance of this park, and how it makes it unique and stands out from others! I’ve been coming to this park since I was two years old and it’s so amazing to be able to see the park grill I got to watch flying turns being built I got to watch impulse being built I got to watch Black diamond being built along with other flat rides as well! You’ve gained a new subscriber from this blog, and I did follow you on Instagram as well!
I used to go every year on the Fourth of July to camp. However, this is the first year I haven’t gone and I miss it so much. I’ve been camping there since I was 2, in 16 now.
I have always wanted a REAL carousel horse... not a replica, but one that was used on a ride.... they are such works of art... that are way under appreciated in my opinion..... that was a WONDERFUL display!!! Thank you for sharing that, Shawn.
I’m so surprised you guys stopped at one my home parks, I’m even more impressed you guys loved it so much. Phoenix was my first coaster ever and I didn’t realize how big of a deal it was. And I was hoping you guys would try the drop tower because that’s one of my favorite attractions there, and the fact you guys ranked it higher than other drop towers that go more than twice it’s height, it warms my heart. Thank you sm for visiting the park.
I actually just went this weekend in the cold, all coasters are running great. And Im sure people have told you, but Twister is based of Denver Coaster Mr Twister. The Park built the ride completely in house. The only outside help they got was from PTC, who built the trains to their spec
Knoebels is an awesome park it’s nothing like a cedar fair or six flags or other chain parks you guys should have a giant usa fan meetup in the picnic pavilion and get some of the awesome food next time glad you guys loved it
One of the best vlogs so far, on this USA road trip Shawn, loved it. Knoebels looks like a great traditional family run park, all that history, and some great rides too.
I'm local and really didn't realize how lucky we were to grow up in that area until I was older. We would take off the roof of the Jeep and drive there on all the back roads and go eat.
What an incredible looking park. I’d visit for the old, heritage rides alone. The carousel is beautiful and I’d love to look round the museum. I never fully understood the “reaching for the ring” reference in ‘The Catcher in the Rye’ before, but I do now. Fab vlog. Definitely added Knoebels to my bucket list.
I feel like you guys both were the most relaxed and in the best spirits so far on the entire trip. Knoebels looked so relaxing and such a carefree atmosphere that it must have made for such a great experience. I got those feelings watching this blog the same feelings I get when I go camping, no worries, no hustle and bustle, and no urgency.
Last year, completely by accident while browsing RUclips, I stumbled upon this channel and I became obsessed, watching a lot of the old vlogs. I couldn't help but think that I would love to see you guys do a big eastern US trip, just so you could visit some of the smaller parks that exist here in the northeast and specifically Knoebels, as it's my home park. I figured it was a long shot, though, considering you are from the U.K. and there are probably tons of other parks that are higher up on your list whenever you come over here. As you can imagine, I was pleasantly surprised when you announced that not only you were doing this big trip, but that Knoebels was on that list. From that point on, I've been eagerly awaiting this vlog. I'm actually quite a bit behind on the US trip vlogs and need to catch up, but I HAD to skip ahead to see this one as soon as it came out. I wasn't entirely sure how you'd feel about it. You two have been to some of the absolute best parks in the entire world, so I felt it wouldn't be out of the question for my humble little park to not really be that interesting to you. That being said, this was an excellent vlog, and I'm so glad that you guys had a good day here. This has definitely been one of my favorites!
Twister was based on a coaster called Mr Twister at Elitch Gardens (which didn’t have the weird double lift). When Elitch had to relocate Mr Twister was demolished and they built a Twister II in the new location - again without the double lift.
Knoebels is a gem of a a park. Your volgs are great. I have never been to the European parks and really enjoy visiting your european parks via volg. They are perfect videos during the Corona virus. Thank you.
That looks like an awesome park..I've been watching trying to get a feel for what would be a good fit for us..I'm planning a back to school trip for my 10 year old. King's Island is a bit much for him. This isn't far , the rides look amazing, he's not ready for the huge roller coasters, I won't go on them, the price, the atmosphere, the whole small town park feel which I love, this is a very very strong contender. Thank you for posting this!
I love this video I been going to knoebels for 19 years now since the year 2000 being a young kid age 5 to now age 24 I love it a lot and I been with them since they built the flying turns I rode on it also it was a awesome ride on flying turns nice job again on the video
So happy to see you guys visit Knoebels! Kennywood, Lakemont and Delgrosso's are my home parks, but we're really hoping to visit this one soon. I haven't been to Knoebels since I was a kid. PA really is one of the best States for amazing coasters that I feel a lot of people overlook. (Also, Central PA is well known for its mining, and yes, you did pronounce Shamokin correctly. 😂)
1001 nights is a Huss/Weber made machine, they had one at Alton towers years ago but went when the height restrictions came in , same company that made the Rainbow ride which they had at Blackpool pleasure beach in the late 80’s 👍👍 Great vlog mate 👍
Knoebels with the POV's! Great vlog today, Shawn! Really glad you guys visited this classic American park. We've had a few historic ring carousels here where I'm at in New England. If you were lucky enough to snatch the brass ring you would get a free ride! I can't wait for the next vlog, Hershey Park, one of my favorite parks in the country.
Knoebels, home to the best operations of any park in the states. Mainly because there aren't any seatbelts to check. LOL Also, the water cannon on the Log Flume is controlled by onlookers. The guest dumps a quarter into a machine and hits a button to activate the cannon and soak the riders.
This and Holiday World are competing against each other to be the most wholesome, classic American park of this vlog series. Silver Dollar City definitely takes the cake for best themed experience so far! Boy, that mascot costume is in a rather poor condition 1:15:55
Knoebels is located in an economically depressed area of Pa. the family has kept the rides and food affordable for its local people to their great credit. The brown ranch house in the middle of the park is where the family actually lived until recently. Phoenix is the “Cole Porter “ of coasters -snappy, quick witted and always delivers the train with smiling people. I have been to many many parks over time and this is by far my favorite. I’m happy you enjoyed it and hope Knoebels will be there forever!
The Jet Star was my favorite coaster at the park until the Phoenix was built. Also the little coaster by the Whip was fun. We had friends who worked the ride and would get it rippin. Fast enough to be scary.
Loved your Knoebels vlog. This is one of my local parks and one of the best in the country. As much as I enjoyed watching I was very frustrated too because I would of loved to have shown you some of the not to miss rides at the park. You missed out on a few best in the world flats. The bumper cars are Amazing. They are known as the best in the world. You can really do some damage on them if you like hard hitting bumper cars. I almost broke someone’s neck on those. Lol. The other chat you missed was their flyers. These are also the best in the world. They go really high and you can snap them really well if you are good at it. Feels like you are going to run into the trees. The one other tidbit you didn’t realize was why the carousel won Golden Ticket. It wasn’t just because you grab the ring and throw it into the mouth. The whole idea behind it was to try and grab the BRASS RING. If you get that one, you get a free ride. I know it’s a lot to take in for just one day at the park but I am glad you had a great time. It truly is a treasure of a park. One of a kind experience. The food is amazing also. If you ever get back here, try some of the different foods.
Love all your trip videos. I also love Knoebels and especially the Carousel with a real working music organ playing as it used to back in the old days. Most parks now use digital soundtracks that are just not the same as the real genuine organs are. Grabbing the rings is one thing I loved as well long forgotten at most other parks today. Keep up the great videos and have a nice day too.
I’m so happy you both enjoyed this park. It’s such a homely park with all the vintage feel and everything. Have yet to re-visit and go on flying turns (it was still under construction the last time I was at Knoebels). Twister was my absolute first “big-kid” roller coaster ❤️
What fun! I'll never get to go to all those places and love theme parks. Thanks for the videos again! Dollywood, Silver Dollar City, and Holiday World are my favs and closer to me. I prefer those to Six Flags St. Louis and Kentucky Kingdom. That trackless coaster was so cool!
Would agree with you expect Kentucky kingdom might have been missed on this trip but ever year, Kentucky kingdom is losing it Six Flags Vive and returning to it Metro Park Feel. It still going to take some time.
Knoebels Halloween festival is so amazing you can’t get accommodations in the area-hayrides, chainsaw killers running around, coffins by the roller coasters -it’s the best festival of its kind. I also forgot to note one of my favorite things is on the Phoenix turnarounds night rides provide the best scent of pine ever! The humidity brings it out and it’s unforgettable!
Nice vlog and nice park, nice caroussel but the golden ticket should be for the caroussel in The Efteling (my personal opinion)……..most beautiful one I have ever seen and from the 19th century.
Great vlog. I believe our own John Wardley used to wax lyrical about the Haunted Mansion. He used that as his inspiration to develop the Haunted House at Alton Towers. Really wish that was still the way it was back in the day.
Great vlog guys!. Fun fact, most carousels used to have the ring thing. If you've ever heard of the saying "going for the brass ring," well that's where it came from.
love your video! just subscribed! i love knoebels i go every year and today we just booked our campsite for our trip there for this year, keep up the good work!
I could tell you everything you need to know about the black diamond mine ride. It was my favorite ride of all time in it's original incarnation in Wildwood New Jersey as the Golden Nugget Mine Ride. I can still smell the gear oil they used to live the lift chain, and the screech it made as it decend the first drop. Darn I miss that, also it wasn't trimmed like it is now, it used to fly down those hills.... Ho humm, sometimes change stinks....
Twister is the reincarnation of Mr Twister from my home park Elitch Gardens (Original location) in Denver, Colorado Its sister still operates at the relocated Elitchs as Twister II They have a “golden bolt” somewhere at the entrance from the original coaster
If you ever make it back to this park, you have to go on my two favorite flat rides there. The Bumper Cars and The Flyers. You...you can get legit airtime on both.
Great video. I rode the Phoenix wooden coaster in San Antonio in the last year of it's operation, before it moved. Funny spinning ride at night, but I am going to assume that you guys have never gotten motion sickness in your lives. Not if you go on so many of them.
Wow . A hidden gem . Reminds me of dreamland Margate (pre bemboms) the scenic railway wAs quite a fast airtime ride with ejector moments at the back . Not now of course . Haunted house looked (and sounded) wonderful . Oh , Sean leaning back on a carousel horse and say “knoebles “ was so cute I actually went up a level of being in love with him .
Just discovered your channel and have enjoyed revisiting some of my favorite theme parks that I can’t get too because of covid. If your ever back in the states I live only 10 mins from Knoebels so would love to join you guys. Btw milk is my favorite drink lol

Thank you, we had such an awesome day!
The two geysers at the Log Flume are activated when bystanders put a quarter in at the observation deck.
Thank you.
Thank you!
My 8 year old loves this park. We go multiple times a year.
@@shovawnboehm4054 it's a really big contender..I really enjoyed watching this video
1001 nights is a Huss/Weber made machine, they had one at Alton towers years ago but went when the height restrictions came in , same company that made the Rainbow ride which they had at Blackpool pleasure beach in the late 80’s 👍👍 Great vlog mate 👍
you and alex are great! so glad you got to try all our greatest rides basically!
The drop tower is an ARM Drop tower. However, Larson was some type of consultant on it.
ARM drop towers are known to be the best ones in the USA.
Honestly one of the best vlogs of the trip... maybe on the channel. I've never see this park in full detail.
Thank you for watching!
SO HAPPY YOU CAN FILM ON THE RIDES! Really makes the vlogs better just like Busch Garden! Good Job
It's great when we can film on ride!
This was such an epic park, we loved it!
Knoebels, home to the best operations of any park in the states. Mainly because there aren't any seatbelts to check. LOL
Also, the water cannon on the Log Flume is controlled by onlookers.
YinYanReshiram over bgw? I think not
We loved this park so much!
@@ThemeParkWorldwide So Do I
Knoebels is located in an economically depressed area of Pa. the family has kept the rides and food affordable for its local people to their great credit.
Thanks for the information!
The Jet Star was my favorite coaster at the park until the Phoenix was built. Also the little coaster by the Whip was fun. We had friends who worked the ride and would get it rippin. Fast enough to be scary.
I'm glad you enjoyed knoebles this is one of my favorite parks
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
What a park. Fantastic classic rides and that museum looked awesome!
Kennywood is my home park but we’ve been going to Knoebels ever since I was a little kid. So many good memories there.
It’s a fantastic park
Poor Alex on that spinning ride, Shawn you are so cheeky! He said he didn't want to be spun!
It sure is a wonderful park
Made my day! Thought about to do a little nap...and then I saw your Vlog 😁😍
We hope that it was worth staying up for!
@@ThemeParkWorldwide Of course 😅
I’m so happy you both enjoyed this park. It’s such a homely park with all the vintage feel and everything. Have yet to re-visit and go on flying turns (it was still under construction the last time I was at Knoebels). Twister was my absolute first “big-kid” roller coaster ❤️
I love the ice poles. Cedar point is my home park. I wish they had these.
Just going up the first hill. Oh yeah baby! On-ride rules!
Yey onride footage.... Not heard of this park before, it looks really nice
I can't wait to see you come back to this park. Knoebels is like if your crazy uncle Joe had his own amusement park.
Well done Shawn, you can really tell when you enjoy yourself at a park
Lovely park, thank you
,
Really lovely Park so glad you were able to film on the rides . Thank you Shawn and Alex ! :-)
It's always great when we can film on ride!
@@ThemeParkWorldwide Hello, Yes it is ;-)
Knoebels was a park I use to go to a lot as a kid, glad to see you guys had a fun time there.
Best park channel on RUclips.
Thank you!
I’m on summer vacation at Knoebels at the same time as this video is uploaded.
Have fun!
Thank you, have a great time!
Definitely a bucket list park for me.
Thanks for the information!
Great park with fantastic and really weird flats!
I loved your videos onride in the flats 😂
Thanks for watching!
Looked like a very nice place, not too manic but lots of good rides to go on
Twister is the reincarnation of Mr Twister from my home park Elitch Gardens (Original location) in Denver, Colorado
Its sister still operates at the relocated Elitchs as Twister II
They have a “golden bolt” somewhere at the entrance from the original coaster
Shocked that Shawn finally came to PA. Then double shocker announcement on ferris wheel. Congrats Alex.
Another great vlog lads! Getting kinda sad that this strata trip is coming to an end
I lobe how chilled you guys are in this park
Just discovered your channel and have enjoyed revisiting some of my favorite theme parks that I can’t get too because of covid. If your ever back in the states I live only 10 mins from Knoebels so would love to join you guys. Btw milk is my favorite drink lol
Thank you! Would love to get back here!
