The lead tractor has had the three point lift mechanism removed to be replaced by a hinged coupling between the tractors. The front tractor's throttle, clutch and transmission controls are extended to the rear tractor. The steering wheel on the rear tractor is used to control a hydraulic steering ramp to aim the front tractor in the direction they wish to go. You can see a lot of the control system along the right side of the rear tractor in the video. I doubt this was built in era. This is a lot of engineering to invest in two low horsepower tractors. Their were higher horsepower tractors available that could do even more, more horsepower, than these two combined tractors could. Still, this is a very interesting and impressive application of ideas that saw real four wheel drive tractors appear in the late 1950's that brought bigger work machines to farmers.

I never liked the Doe tractors (as they are called), seems pointless, just get a stronger tractor.
