Most of you know Porter is really one of my favorite artists of all time. I was incredibly excited when "Get Your Wish" came out because it was 6 years coming since Worlds and my expectations were very high. I know many people including me wanted something reminiscent of Worlds 2, and although it was not that it really did exceed my expectations of being something new from Porter but still being Porter. Something Comforting I think speaks for itself in the title - this song is more reminiscent of older Porter with some of the synths but it still sounds completely new and progressive in terms of his sound. I never got this song ahead of time so when it came out Incept and I teamed up to create an on brand lyric video for this great track (that to be honest I needed a few listens to grow on me, but after 4-5 listens I knew that I really did thoroughly enjoy this track and it made me even more excited for Nurture in general). Hope you all enjoy!
This is more than just something comforting, Porter is one of the few artists that can awake this ethereal feeling in me. These visuals just made an already perfect song reach new heights, thank you.
i needed this. Porter is a saviour. i'm in a really dark period and i've been before but he always manages to give me something to hold on. he'll never read this, but i thank him from the bottom of my heart every day. Thanks Porter, your music is the light at the end of the tunnel :')
dunno why, but porter’s music always clicks with me somehow. my personal explanation of the song is about my emotional exclusiveness and how i need support, but can’t trust anyone around me. but in the past few months i’ve been talking to some people about it and getting help because of this song, so listening to it is always nice
This is a beautiful song. In my opinion its about overcoming depression or an addiction by reaching out to someone who needs to tell them something comforting. I've been depressed but it made it more worse when my dad passed away in January. It made me think of cutting more often and angry and school kinda made it worse to think positive but I'm slowly getting better. This song and Get Your Wish made me think it'll get better. Porter is an amazing artist anyway before Nuture. ❤❤❤
That's not what the song was written about. Porter has a couple minutes video of him explaining what it means to him on his Twitter, you should 100% go watch
@@vertical6866 it may not bet what it was written about but that't the beauty of music and art in general. people can take away whatever meaning they interpret themselves
I listened to this song just once, and just like the name of the title, it made me feel comfortable. I'm struggling with something right now, and it felt like this song came out of the screen, gave me a hug and said, "it's gonna be okay".
I used to not like Porter's music too much a few years ago. I simply thought that music was something to get jiggy with, and I really only liked Shelter and Flicker. But as I kept on listening to music and slowly started analyzing it, especially after wathcing Your Lie In April, now I find that his music too is full of mature, abstract expressions; ones that I was perhaps unable to understand earlier, but now fully reach me. He's really, really great at getting these feelings across, and this song is yet another prime example of his expertise. Bless the magnificent guy, may he keep his artistic sense till his last day.
With context this song is so much better. Around 1:05 is the part that got porter out of a creative rut. He wrote it back in 2015 and was depressed, thinking he wasn't cut out to make music. Over the next 5 years he continued to learn about music production so he could turn this song into what he drempt it could be. This song was the first thing that comforted porter after his depression hit him. Just imagining that as you vo through the song makes it so much better in my opinion. You can feel what he was feeling in a way.
It's really strange, I wasn't too into EDM pretty well And the first artist who brought me into EDM is exactly Porter. He gave me a completely new experience on music, like he can tell a whole novel story and complex emotions and twists by just making masterpiece and masterpiece, like how you guys said, "journey". I really enjoyed just by knowing him publishing music, and I personally thought about Virtual Self is basically a negative side of him taking all those pains and panics from couldn't squish a song. The way how his music sounds are always appreciating and many of his songs are basically clean, meaningful and cheerful, it's extremely hard to see such an artist could ever reach his highness. He's different, no, he's a unique artist... no, he is Porter Robinson.
When I first heard this song, I heard my myself. Seeing this video... I saw myself. The static is so accurate and on point with how I relate to this song. Gonna say it, I prefer this video for this song above any others. You captured it so well. Made me even love the song a bit more. Bravo my guy. ❤️
Dude your channel is goat. I think I've found the greatest RUclips channel in my whole life. I love all of your videos specially the lyrical ones. WAY TO GO.
Am I the only one who notices a similarity between the vocal melody at 0:42 and the one in Divinity at 3:55? I always thought they sounded really similar, either way this song is so good aaAAaa

Nostalgia is really the best feeling in my opinion. I like to listen to sad or emotional songs when I'm doing something I know I will feel nostalgic years after. For instance when I used to travel with my loved one I always made specific playlists for that trip. 4 years after and after the break up I can listen to these songs and I still see the austrian landscapes by the train's windows... Best times of my life
This isn't just music, this is something far greater. I waited so long for him to make new music after the tour and collabs with Madeon but after a few years of waiting, I found his reddit post talking about the album which was something about him making his last album before moving on to different things. It's good to see that he's now somehow back and creating more music.
its just so timely; going home and playing this song soothes. Literally gives the chillax vibes as I watch the sheer curtains playing with the sunbeams of the afternoon. Ahhh tranquil and memories
i feel like nurture (or all the songs from it so far) are looking back at how far porter has come. the drums are reminiscent of virtual self, and some of the synths remind of me of spitfire. it’s amazing how porter shifts styles and how flawlessly he does it. can’t wait for the full album.
porter robinson really makes some music that pulls emotions that i tend to keep buried til i can deal with em at a later date. sadly those days come by later down the line in terms of years.

Thank you Porter Robinson, you're truly a wizard when it comes to melody. This really comforted me in a way that it stopped me from hurting myself.
The acoustic guitar intro was very nostalgic for some reason, can't really put my finger on it.
It reminds me of Dark Cloud if you ever played that game

For me, it really reminds of Anime soundtracks. Summer vacation episodes, specifically. Which is reasonable, considering that Porter is a huge otaku.
It reminds me of a song from the PC game Maplestory. I use to play that game alot with my cousin and friends back then😭
it reminds me sad machine outro harp (there must be something wrong with me)
