I actually love this song. Its so fun and I think it really hits the mark for our new adventure across the sea, under the sun. I'm so glad they got Amanda to come back and do more. Her vocals are so insane. 💕
I can't wait to go explore Zandalar with our scooby-doo polycule and wash our hands of all of that bummer 'Garleans being genocided' stuff!!! :DDDD ...Every xpac that we don't get Necromancer healers, a forsaken child with an armful of homeless kittens weeps profusely...
It's not bad, the male lead vocal is soooooo awful though. How can people tolerate this? But I also don't like people who defend everything this man composes as completely without fault. The second someone utters anything even remotely negative they get devoured. Music is not an entirely subjective thing. There is such a thing as an objectively worse melody or leitmotif than another piece. The leitmotifs for all the previous expansions were stronger than this one, full stop. This can be broken down and analysed. Your experience of the music is different than its overall quality. You can say you don't enjoy the music, that's fine, but surely you can recognise when something is catchier.
Because the male lead vocal is something that is actually normal in Japanese rock (male and female singers both). Its made by a Japanese person, for a Japanese game, lead by a Japanese company. If you're not used to Japanese rock, then I get it, it can sound off. You feel passionate about something, we feel passionate about something. We're allowed to disagree. People feel a soft spot for Soken, fighting cancer while giving us a fire sound track. We respect his work.
You aren't processing the music correctly, the male vocals being laid back, non chalant, put through some kind of bitcrush like distortion, along with the shouting chorus effect on some of the words and sections, it really makes it feel super organic like were on the beach trip in the car making up the anthem with the homies as we go. You aremissing the bigger picture for your desire for music theory, and if there is such things as "objectively" worse melodies you should be able to identify the song with the most "Correct" melody this is a nonsensical claim. It sounds completely fine, and contrasted with the female lead in the later half.
Why can't they just go back to the orchestral epics that the old expansions had. I'm sick of what Shadowbringers started. It makes sense then, and for Endwalker, but not for this.
I used to think I hated the non-orchestral versions, but tbh I've come around to really enjoying this style. It's fitting for FFXIV, and the orchestral takes are still present in-game.
Because Dawn trail is a tropical adventure. Thematically. Ochestral music will not fit too well. Imagine going to beach resort and hearing death metal.
In Dawntrail's case it makes sense given it's effectively the "summer vacation" arc of the story. We just wrapped up our (first) massive, world-saving saga. Time to take a break and relax a bit. The music here is supposed to reflect that with how upbeat it is, like something you'd throw on to kick back with and feel happy, nothing too serious. If it helps at all, something tells me the next expansion might see a return of the former orchestral style. I doubt they've done away with that approach entirely.
Different composer styles. ARR - StB main themes were composed by Uematsu, ShB onwards is purely Soken. I enjoyed Uematsu's as well, but we're getting Soken from this point forward.

6:09 i love you!!
Thank you!
god this is so good
Reminds me of Hiroshi Kitadani's We Are! from One Piece, I adore how upbeat and unhinged it gets.
Is it ever coming to spotify

This comment section did NOT pass the vibe check 😭 Y’all gotta get into the Turali mood asap

The "Where do we go x3, NO MORE RUNNIN'" breakdown + leadup does kinda have the same vibe

Maybe you should just follow your own advice and just say you dont enjoy the music 🤣
It's also okay to have a trash opinion, but you don't see any of us dropping a fucking paragraph about how braindead yours was now do you?
I don’t think the male leads vocals is bad, he just has a thick accent.
