@@mikebarndollar4046 I used to play queen commander regularly back in like 2005 at friday night magic. Usually everyone would start a game by teaming up to kill me.
I mean, isn't it because Angels are big creatures. It's not that they don't match specific mechanics, it's that they're mostly not meant to be weenies. Same with Dragons, Wurms, etc.
i think the best tribes are defined by ones who have ETB combos, and built in recursion. Elementals tick both those boxes well enough i believe. humans and elves also do the same, but they're so incredibly common that it's almost a joke to put them on a tier list.
Eye of Ugin is an interesting card in that it's a rare case of a newish land that neither has a mana ability nor fetches other lands. I really can't think of any other contemporary example.
public announcement from Coat of Arms and Cryptic Gateway: "We don't make the tribal decks you use every day, we make the tribal decks you use every day.... better."
Hate I missed this so I could represent for the vampires tribe!! We’re just not good in Modern atm, but that’s ok, working on an Esper list in Pioneer. Lots of great vamps, Cordial, Knight of Ebon, Nighthawk Scavenger, Evelyn, Bloodghast, Edgar - then topped off with Soren - could name many more. I think in Modern we’re just missing that one (or 3 😅) card to put us over the top, that’s usually how tribes go.
Slivers is one that is missing, and that is either an A or at the very least A+. They are really strong, but the ones is S I feel do things to either counter or move faster then Slivers.
Too many super chat trolls lol but I’ll says Myr tribal to throw in my two cents of jank. For Demons, Spawn of Mayhem is amazing. No one sees it coming on turn three if you can cast it for its spectacle cost. Nice video Nikachu 👍 keep the tribal videos coming
Beyond just "technically" true, it's just true true. Not even pedantic. Maybe confusing and won't come up much, and I guess most players who aren't die-hards won't care and just think it's maybe a creature type.
Maybe you could do a tribe tier list: which tribe has the most powerful cards/sees the most play. This would maybe raise vampires with cards like Blood Artist and Lhurgoyfs wouldn't be D tier
Yeah, rogues do seem like b-tier. There was some 5-0 lists for modern and you do see it occasionally in explorer. Would not be surprised if it had tier 2 play in pioneer too. Dauthi Voidwalker pretty good for modern. Not many lords, but Soaring Thought-Thief about best kind of lord you could hope for. Maybe if they get one more lord of that caliber.. could be A?
What about the overwhelmingly powerful, lurking in the deep force of the fungi? Sadly the glorious times of this tribal deck have passed, but I still love it!
1 card that I noticed is grossly underused in tribal decks especially elf decks is vanquishers banner. Buffs the tribe of your choice and lets you draw whenever you play a creature of your tribe. You can drop 10 cards in 1 turn easily if you use it
Angels are definitely my favorite, for some reason they're just fun and I like the aesthetic. My angel deck has a pretty good winrate even though it's not meta or anything and it's fun to play. The only thing that sucks about them is they don't have any good one and two drops except for Giada so they are inconsistent, but if you play her turn 2 and ramp her into one of the many good 4 drop angels turn 3 it's often over if the opponent doesn't have a ton of removal, you can usually keep dropping a massive threat every turn for the rest of the game.
Zombie deck lacking removal? You’re likely in dimir, have access to counter spells, dictate of Erebos, grave pact, and with gravecrawer that’s infinite forced sacrifices. Then, you have a zombie that adds -1 counters, which also is infinite with gravecrawler… and generate infinite tokens. Grimgrin also gets a free targeted removal every attack, combo with maze of ith and you get the idea. Plenty of removal for zombies…
Fun stream! But you know you can just use eg type:noggle to search for all noggles on scryfall, right? Think you'd save yourself some effort by just keeping in mind that type:word will search for things of that type and oracle:"text here" will search for cards with "text here" in the rules.
Good video, i play only commander so my view on tribes is a little different sense commander always gets the best tribal synergies and legendarys. I do not really count creatures classes under tribal. I just consider the race as a tribas Like humans, vampires, zombies. Sometimes you get lucky like with knights in commander but majority of the time that is not the case.
As an owner of a rat deck B is fair but you didn't look at any of the key rat cards. Marrow gnawer is really good and so is Ashcoat of the shadow swarm. Those are primarily the general idea of rats.
i feel like you should only be able to consider something a tribe if it, at the very least, has a built in lord effect or some sort of other ability that triggers from that creature type being used.
Maskwood nexus. The best card any tribal can have. Nothing like making a core tribal and having any creature under the sun you add in join the benefits
@Zen Master it never worked well in formats I try but my ultimate dream that only worked in self testing was the world tree + maskwood nexus. Using green base and it's willingness to provide any color mana easily. The big dream to crack the world tree with maskwood up and put all gods onto the battlefield...aka every creature you got! Better have am avacyn in there because knowing my luck the opponent would be holding a wrath of God the whole 5 min I take to resolve it. I almost pulled it off in angel though. Mirror box + maskwood + Giada = super ramp into big cmc and tons of +1/+1 counters. Had angels/dragons with dragons getting angel benefits. Ended up cutting most the dragons and maskwood though. Less spikey but way more consistent.
angels fly, that is why they don't have good drop 1, but there are a lot of angel enablers that aren't angels, the angels need some not angels to protect
Bears are way better than you think. With Arula or whatever her name is you can literally keep all other commanders off the board that are 4 toughness or less with ease.
@@NikachuMTGLive still trying to make merfolk work in standard :) so far it feels like the best I can do is mythic can't hit top 1200. humans though that's my best standard deck.

more tribes, Wizards, Golems, Constructs, Cats, Saporlings, Soldiers, Knights just to name a few 🙂

You're correct not many one drop white angels, because most of the One drops in white are based around life game or permanent removal.

@@TehSeksyManz I’m aware, I was naming good vampires from a general standpoint.
@@dexter_johnson You can see where that confusion come from though, right?
Angels are very strong, but also very costly. Only one card gives permanent indestructible to your entire board and that is Avacyn.
Slivers is one that is missing, and that is either an A or at the very least A+. They are really strong, but the ones is S I feel do things to either counter or move faster then Slivers.
I have a sliver cascade deck and got wrecked by an elf deck cus of how fast it was while i usually win against other decks
Just to let you know, when searching on Scryfall, you can search like say "t:vampire" to search all the cards with type vampire.

Technically, Shrine is an Enchantment type that some creatures happen to have, not a creature type. The Go-Shintai don't have a creature type.

I want a rogue enchantment called "dark alley" or "back alley" that says "all rogues have flash" rogue tribal is then instantly broken
What about the overwhelmingly powerful, lurking in the deep force of the fungi? Sadly the glorious times of this tribal deck have passed, but I still love it!
We have a discord full of players trying since january in modern, nearly all have moved to pioneer instead. Can’t compete in modern 😢

1 card that I noticed is grossly underused in tribal decks especially elf decks is vanquishers banner. Buffs the tribe of your choice and lets you draw whenever you play a creature of your tribe. You can drop 10 cards in 1 turn easily if you use it
The issue is that it's 5 mana to get out, so it's too slow for modern.
