You metioned you used Plywood for the main body of the box, but what type of wood did you use for the face-plate and how thick was the wood. Was the wood used on the face-plate like plywood in nature of was it solid natrual wood? After all the face-plate makes the main sound of the drums bass tones. It appears to be the most important part of the drum compared to the rest of the body. Was it a hardwood you used or a softwood. Those building Cajon's don't explain the types of wood they use for the face-plate and how thick it needs to be to get the right low bass sound of a bass drum.. Too thin and the wrong type of wood would make poor drums and not giving a low enough bass sound when struck. This is why I am asking. Can you reply back please? Thanks as quality is very important to get the best low sound of a bass drum.
Hey Wayne I used 3mm thick plywood for the face plate ,nothing special just from my local diy store . Because of the thickness I made sure it was well fixed on the edges with plenty of screws . Hope this helps 🙂
You mention AUDIO, I am hearing impaired and have My sound turned up and I had a very difficult time hearing what you were saying...A BODY MIC next time, please!
Yes really sorry I have a mic now but unfortunately did not then , this is just a hobby for me and like all hobbies it takes a some time to get all the kit needed 🙂👍
Quality work as always mate....And it sounds brilliant 😁
Thanks awfully 🙂
Awesome! It's a great sound! You and Steve have a perfectly matched set of skills!!
Thank you very much 🙂
Nicely done! The snares worked way better than I would have thought, but I know nothing about drum construction, so that doesn't say that much... 😅
Thanks, it all worked better than I thought as well 🤣
