I got the GB10 about a year ago; I love it! I had a Gibson L5 decades ago, but I'm a little guy (5'5) and that guitar was too big for me. I had been using an Epiphone Sheraton with .012 flatwounds for my jazz guitar, but it's been sitting in the closet ever since I got the GB10. The GB10 is perfect for me; it's smaller and lighter, but it sounds as good as the bigger boxes. George Benson wanted it to be a smaller guitar to reduce feedback, but for me, that's just one of the benefits. Nice playing, BTW!
Very beautiful playing. However, you really didn’t nail it down as to which guitar is the better one ~ ~ ~. OK: One is lighter than the other . One has a little less feedback . . But, which guitar are you recommending ?
Great comparison!! Enjoyed it... The Ibanez GB's have always been my favs (besides Gibson's) but it looks like they did a very good job with the AF55 for the budget. Santa please , take notes... 🤣🤣 Shoutout from Tenerife (Canary Islands) ✌
Hi, Craig! Very nice playing! Looking closely to the original uncovered pickup it seem to not carry screws over the two bobbins poles. I am just curious how do you inserted the cover with the 6 screws over the poles. Thank you!
Both sound good - prefer the gb10 but the af is still v nice. Great playing as always. I’ve watched a couple of your videos now but just found out here that you’re Welsh! Surprised not to see a harp on the wall 😉 😂
I’ve been looking for a jazz box for a while now - and had been thinking that I’d have to settle for one of those thin-bodied beasts. Now it looks like I’ll be able to get a jazz box that I can also play acoustically.
@@TheJazzucator Obviously this one - but I've also been considering the Guild Starfire SC or the Gretch G2420 - but those don't have the deeper body which gives a better acoustic sound - and they're dearer! Failing that - a cheap 335 type such as HB or Artist.
@@rebeccaabraham8652 I just had a look. They are nice looking guitars. The GB10se is small for a fully acoustic archtop, but projects very well acoustically. That sound is rather brighter, warms instantly when you plug it in.
hello craig, i looked at the AF55 to buy ON THE INTERNET. THE PICK UPS DO NOT SEEM TO BE THE SAME AS ON YOUR GUITAR? WHY?? can you help me I AM LOOKING FOR THE SAME AS YOURS. thank you very much
Hiya - just spotted this (great playing, of course). The GB10 sounds more ‘you’, with a more articulate and slightly more thick and compressed sound. I’d be happy with the AfF55 too, not that I need any more jazz boxes.
Great comparison and playing! You could make any guitar sound good! BTW I did a quick search on AF55 and they all have the black dual P90 type pick-ups that to me affect the aesthetics of the guitar. Yours has the typical archtop humbuckers. Did those come with that guitar? If I cannot find an AF55 with those same hums, then I may have to contend with what Ibanez put out there with the black one. Cheers!
Lovely! The AF was great - that’s what a jazz-box should sound like. The GB sounded much better than those I’ve previously heard, as well. Much less bright: must be the .11 flats. I’d still be trying to get it ‘down’ a bit more, though. When I was first learning about jazz guitars I used to lust after a 20-fret Ibanez, I believe they called it an AJ85. I think they’ve stopped making them, now that I might be able to afford one. Still, you never know your luck
@@lkgreenwell they’re 11s in this video and 14s on my oleo, affirmation and summer vibes videos. I think the difference is more about resistance and dynamic range.

Nice to hear a guitar player swinging over the blues instead of the inevitable blues rockers. Nice!
Wonderful, thanks for the music and the video, what would you say between these 2 and Ibanez AG95 QA? Someone said was an alternative for the GB
Well, that is a fabulous bit of playing there - Leaving it on for background - so cool
Oh my goodness, thank you so much 🎸🎵❤

Thanks Ernest. My other guitars get a bit neglected now. My Cort LCS1 (L5 copy) makes me look like a garden gnome and hurts my shoulder.

Amazing playing and great tone
What are your Amp settings im trying to nail down a nice dark tone
Amazing playing!!!
What pickups are in AF-55?
I’m sorry I didn’t answer this. They are the stock pickups with chrome covers sealed on with wax.

I am so sorry, a friend asked me to find a home for it, so I don’t know. I’ll message him now and ask him to comment.
He said he had them fixed on with hot wax.
Lovely playing. I tried the gb10 em Aa I’m brighton yesterday and it was really nice
I love the look of those.

Its a gorgeous guitar and you played it beautifully as you always play every guitar sir
You are very kind you man

AF55 looks even better with that gloss shine! Which polish have you used for it and were there any problems when polishing it?
Hello, I haven’t polished it. The only change is pickup covers
Haha oops, may be the light. Great vid anyway!
⚠️#2, AF55 has aftermarket locking tuners and the "Infinity R" double black bobbin stock p/u's have also been replaced. Correct?
Hi, they are the stock tuners and pickups. The owner had the chromes covers fixed on with wax.
@@TheJazzucator ah, ok, thanks for correcting me. Happy New year
And to you too ❤🎸🎵@@Jesuswinsbirdofmichigan
Great mixture of musicality, expression and technique👍🏻I really like your style!👏I prefer the GB10 but I love GB, so I'm biased, I guess...
I’ve recently put 14s on the GB10 because I love to be able to dig in without ruining the tone.
From the first note..you tone is beautiful...Nice

Hallo, great video. Cool Sound is Jazz love it!Great playing!
Thanks so much sir 🎸🎸🎸
It's funny how we hear with our eyes. Saw the covered pick ups on the 55 and thought 'ah, upgraded pups - much better sound'!

I spent a decent amount of time with 14s on the GB10. The guitar loved them but it made the guitar less versatile.
